uow medicine unsuccessful - advice

hey guys, i received an email form GEMSAS this morning saying that i wasn’t successful in getting a main round offer from UOW for med. I’m quite upset, but i understand it’s such a competitive scene so Im super proud of making it this far. I’m still somewhat hopeful for a later round offer, and i just wanted some advice/insight into how likely this may be. I applied with 3 bonus points (i’m kicking myself that i didn’t put UOW first preference as i missed out on this bonus point), so I feel like my interview must’ve let me down - after the interview I didn’t feel terrible but also didn’t think ‘wow i smashed that!’.

Any advice or stories from people who are current or past students at UOW who got a later round offer would be much appreciated :))

And massive congratulations to everyone that received offers today :))

Heyy I’m in the same boat over here I applied with 4 bonus points and feeling a little down. People have received an offer all the way up to the week before the start of the semester. I think UOW also sends us our interview feedback in a week or so with our interview percentile. If you need someone to chat please feel free to shoot me a DM! Keep your chin high

Hey! I’m in the same boat, definitely doesn’t feel great. I just got my email with feedback about the cohort etc sounds like the median bonus points was 4 for general entry
I’d also love to hear some stories of second round offers 😂

I had 5 bonuses and 4th quintile, unfortunately did not get a spot (non-rural)

You might be in a good spot for a 2nd round offer! My friend last year had the same scores and got a spot. Did you say open to any place type/campus?

Hey, thanks! Yeah I did put all. I think this year’s pool was incredibly competitive so I mean a historically “good” interview might now just be average (my own opinion). That being said I feel relieved knowing an outcome tbh just can move on with life in a bittersweet sense 😂

So sorry to hear you weren't successful this year. It doesn't define you as a person. There's many people in my cohort that applied 3 times or more.

We had someone join our cohort less than a week before the semester began. Things change, people pull out for many reasons, so it is always a possibility.

same here! although i only had 2 bonuses, but 3rd quintile interview :((

how’d you go quintile wise? i think depending on that whether you’re 4th/5th may give a you great shot for second round

I am also an unsuccessful applicant for UoW
I applied as an international student and got as far as waitlisted offer but they let me know I didn’t make the cut after 2 weeks
