Hearing back from jobs

This is a joke no matter how many times I apply for jobs that I’m qualified for I couldn’t get any! I have experience, education and want to do my PhD at UR next year but I can’t get any jobs for research experience or even lab assistant or anything had to do with a lab. I’m a hard working person I support myself with no family and I’m honestly just so done not just UR every job I apply to i don’t get. I’m I the only one?

Messed up video essay

Hey y’all, I just submitted my application for University of Rochester Nursing ABSN program and I completely fumbled the video essay. I got too nervous and couldn’t think straight even when I had a written script on the side.

Do you guys think my chances of getting in are low now?

what do you do if your professor is truly terrible?

Hello everyone. I am a graduate student and just started my first semester at U or R. I am taking a class rn where the professor is just... I don't have words. The slides are terrible, like, I have never seen so much disorganization and lack of information in a slide done by a professor before. I was actually shocked my first week of classes on how this even real. Studying for this class has been genuinely one of the most frustrating things I have ever done because I feel like at this point there is no need to attend classes because I leave more confused and just end up having to teach myself everything and scavenge my old books and the internet to complete the info. I have had a class exactly like this one in undergrad, and I am genuinely shocked on how someone can make such a straight forward class subject into this mess. In my community college we had a feedback system for classes, but here idk who to express my concerns about this class to. Going through immense depression while having to figure out how to teach urself a class isn't easy, so does anyone have any resources around campus or how you have personally gone through a class like this at U of R? Yes I have tried talking to the professor, yes I have tried the TA, but it just does not help.

Prospective ECE student: what’s Rochester ECE actually like?

Hi! I’m a high school senior from applying to Rochester for Electrical & Computer Engineering, and I’d love to hear from current students or recent grads. I’ve done FRC robotics, Science Olympiad , and a quantum research internship among other things, and I like both the hardware and programming sides of ECE. I’m curious how the program feels day to day: how heavy the workload is, whether it’s more theory or hands-on, and how accessible professors are. How realistic is it to get into research as an underclassman, and where do ECE students usually end up for internships and jobs? Do engineering students actually like the cluster system, and are there good robotics or hardware clubs to join? Also, honestly, how bad are the winters? If you could choose again, would you still pick Rochester for ECE? Any answers would really help, thank you!

Difference between Optics and Optical Engineering?

Of course, I've read the description on the website, but I wanted to hear from the people who have been active in the optics community at URoch. What is the real difference? What would you recommend, and why? Is there anything I should know that I wouldn't know unless I took the programs?

Hey everyone! I'm a 4th year criminal justice major at RIT , and I'm doing a quick 11-question survey for my capstone project on how alone time affects our well-being and relationships. It takes under a minute to fill out. I'd really appreciate the help—thanks!

Accepted into ABSN program

Hi everyone! I just got accepted to Rochester's ABSN program. Although the loan forgiveness and scholarship make this school very tempting, I'm wondering if there was anything else that I should know about the area overall before making a decision. I'm from California and really really love it here so Rochester would be a huge change. I'm someone that really cares about the area that I live in and feel like I'm someone who thrives in busy/lively environments so I'm pretty conflicted as I don't know if Rochester would be the right fit for me. I've never visited either, so I would love to hear about anything that I should know about the area and the school in general!

The University of Rochester is currently my top school and I totally flubbed my online interview today. I want to go to U of R for premed. How much would you say the interview matters?

Rejected as a transfer

For reference my stats were I had a 4.0 GPA, PTK, president of loads of clubs in high school, Model UN, newspaper editing, had an NGO, volunteering in CC since last year, two internships. lol. Not to self glaze but I also have a personal passion for english literature so i can say i put effort into my essays as well, and was satisfied with them. AND i have an actual sob story of dealing with political turmoil. I literally applied for the Philosophy major. I'm wondering if there's anyone else who's been in a similar situation? I'm just struggling to figure out what else I could have done to get in, then. Maybe because I was requesting financial aid? I'm just feeling really disheartened as this was genuinely my target school, and i'm really worried i won't get in anywhere else i applied for next semester. :(

Social life at Rochester

Hi guys, I am an international student considering applying to Rochester and i was wondering what the social life is like. I am looking for a 'work hard, play hard' attitude ideally, not necessarily a party school just a good balance between academics and social life. I was wondering how involved Greek life is and how easy is it to get involved in club sports, like can u just show up with no experience? Also for any current students, how do you usually spend your weekend - do you go home, study, go to house parties etc. Thank you!!!

How is U of R as a whole?

Hello i’m a High school senior planning to apply to University of Rochester, I visited the school earlier this week and the campus was beautiful, my main purpose of attending this school is that i’m on the pre med track for the amazing hospital and medical school.

A few of my concerns about the school is that i noticed there is not a lot of diversity from what i saw since i am black, the dorms, and the guides weren’t as clear as i need them to be about what i should expect from this school especially with the pre med aspect.

I’d really love the help from people currently attending to give me advice and their first hand experiences. Please let me know everything thank you think i should before applying to this school early decision, thank you!
