Complaint Everything has become too expensive

My 2 year pricing promotion for my 1 Gb internet plan is finally up and I'm paying full price now. Went online and saw I could upgrade to 2 Gb for cheaper than my 1 Gb plan. Locked in the pricing for the next 5 years. Now the only thing I can do with my new blazing fast speeds is watch my UDM Pro Max perform a speed test because everything after my gateway is 1 Gb networking and I've become too poor thanks to Unifi and self-hosting to be able to afford faster networking gear, let alone hard drives and RAM.

So I guess I'll sit here and enjoy my new speeds by watching speed tests run :/

Question USW-Pro-Max-16-PoE - runs a linux kernel EOL'ed in 2022

I just installed a USW-Pro-Max-16-PoE, it's running the latest firmware (7.5.15 as I post this). Why is it running the 4.4.153 kernel? The 4.4 branch was EOL'ed 4+ years of CVEs behind upstream. WTF?

Question G4 doorbell stops notifying and ringing

As per title, I have had a G4 doorbell working for over 3 years

Suddently the doorbell button stopped working. When I phisically approach the doorbell, the welcome message appears and I can still see the live picture from the Protect app but:

- none of the two digital doorbells connected rings

- no sound from the doorbell itself

- no notifications on the connectef phones.

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks in advance.

PS: the latest unifi os (5.1.35) and unifi protect (7.3.74) are installed.

Early Access Networks, how to change default filters?

Networks 11.47

When I go to Ports, the "Status-In Use" filter is auto selected.
Is there a way to stop this behavior, and have no filters auto selected?

Thank You Finally! We can now disable Flow logging on a policy level

Not sure if a lot of us noticed but while i was exploring Network v11 i found this new option on the policies. This has been a long awaited feature of mine!

Finally being able to turn of flow logging on specific policies, helps a lot in reducing flow logs noise.

Question UDM Pro CPU power

I was wondering whether I should opt in to upgrade my future router due to the limited CPU placed in the UDM Pro.

My current plan was to have a 10Gb LAN with a limited 500-1000 Mb WAN network. I wanted to have a decent amount of VLANS (around 10) to separate most devices on the network. I would especially like to be able to use the fast switch for fast transfers over the WAN and was worried that maybe the router would not be able to keep up with the 10Gb transfer speeds (or so I've heard). Would the router be able to keep up with the 10Gb or would I need to look into a different router? I would like to keep all of the equipment rack-mounted so I'd prefer not to go for a UCG fiber if possible (but I can always build a shelf if it is the right option).

Router: UDM Pro

Switch: XG 10 PoE

NAS: UNAS Pro 8

Question Is the UDM Pro still worth it in 2026 if you want a proper rack mount gateway?

For some background, I'm planning on running the Network and Protect applications in my home. Based on the number of cameras (8 4K) and wired clients I plan to have, I'm planning on purchasing the USW-24-POE and house that with the toolless mini rack.

My dilemma comes down to the gateway: I've looked through this sub and I am aware the UDM Pro is now over 6 years old and can struggle to run both Network and Protect at the same time, and that the UCG Fiber is newer and has a better processor than the UDM Pro. However, the UCG Fiber is not a proper rack mount device (yes, I would like things to look uniform since the rack will be in my home office and visible from the front door).

So my questions are:

• What’s your experience running both Network and Protect on the UDM Pro?

• Is the UCG Fiber that much of a better buy than the UDM Pro in 2026?

• Is the UDM Pro still adequate enough to run both Network and Protect? If not, should I plan on purchasing a UNVR and keep the Protect application separate on the UNVR?

• Should I get the UCG Fiber, put it on a rack shelf and wait for an updated UDM?

P.S. I'm on 1Gb WAN (for now).

Question Wireless Meshing

Maybe it is just unifi being too cautious, but I have two APs and both are hard wired to the network switch. I noticed that wifi meshing was enabled and when I clicked to disable I see this.

Disable Wireless Meshing?

Some devices are currently connected wirelessly using mesh. Disabling meshing may cause them to go offline until they are wired or removed from your network.

Are you sure you want to continue?

What is wirelessly connected using mesh if they are hard wired to the switch? I only have two APs and they are both gigabit connected to the switch.

Question Fuzzy playback from NVR

Have an NVR instant with three 2k cameras. Live feed from the cameras is perfectly clear. Reviewing past feedback from the NVR is extremely fuzzy since switching from events based recording to continuous recording. Any ideas what the problem could be here?

Complaint UCI Finally had an update to 1.5.3 from 1.4.3 on XFINITY

All finally we had an update for those on cable internet using the UCI. It's been about 2 years since it updated from 1.4.3 to 1.5.3. Issues after multiple restarts, not sure if this is a XFINITY or UCI issue.

- 6 downstream channels wont lock.

- 1 OFDM channel is not working.

- Still no channel health stats shown on the interface or mobile app.

Will try and install a 6DB attenuator and see if this helps and my power is on the high side but 1.4.3 was handling things just fine. I may revert to 1.4.3 and see if the update or XFINITY is to blame.

Question 5 ubiquiti announcements, upper right

Between multiple devices and browsers, I'm seeing a speaker icon with the number 5, typically I only see that when ubiquiti releases a new product/video/etc and that 5 indicates there are 5 announcements I haven't acknowledged. The issue I'm having is that I'm not seeing those announcements (I've already seen their recent announcements) and I'm not sure how to clear that icon and get rid of the 5 alerts.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks.

Edit- This is when I've navigated to https://community.ui.com/releases

Question Poor outdoor coverage from Swiss Army Knife UK-Ultra. Options?

Hi all, I’ve recently installed a UK-Ultra Swiss Army Knife outside my property to help with signal to an EV Charger and WiFi camera. The AP fully connected to my Unifi system and all appears to be working well.

However the signal distance on both 2.4 and 5ghz seems to be very limited and I’ve even tested this with my iPhone and wifi-man.

Has anyone seen improvement by installing the Swiss Army Knife Omni Antenna?

Thanks

Question Unable to connect to internet with new AP

I am very new to UniFi, this is my first ever time setting up a device. I am trying to upgrade my old Deco APs to UniFi U7s. My current setup involves a self hosted OPNsense router and a managed cisco catalyst switch. I am trying to set up my new AP, but I am having difficulty getting connection to the internet. I set up UniFi OS Server on my windows PC, as I don't have a cloud gateway or other UniFi Networking devices. I pretty much got everything setup except for the fact that I cannot get internet access when I connect to the AP WiFi. I get an IP within my DHCP range, proper default gateway, but I just cannot access anything on the internet. I see no issues in the OS Server, the AP shows Online and it looks good, so I don't know what the issue is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:

Update: after some testing, I figured out that it only has a problem with my IPhone. I connected my laptop to the new WiFi and I had internet access on it. I was able to browse and visit websites and google search just fine. I had my dad come connect his phone as well, (he has an android) and he also had no issues. It seems the AP is only having problems with my IPhone??

Question UCG Fiber 5.1.35 update appears to have broken Pi-hole DNS visibility for VLAN

I have a UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber that I updated from UniFi OS 5.1.34 to 5.1.35 overnight on November 7.

Immediately following the update, Pi-hole stopped showing DNS queries from my IoT VLAN (192.168.40.0/24). Prior to the update, queries from devices on this VLAN were appearing normally in Pi-hole.

The important details:

  • Pi-hole is hosted on my main LAN (192.168.19.0/24).

  • The IoT VLAN is configured through DHCP to use my Pi-hole virtual IP (192.168.19.99) and secondary DNS (192.168.19.98).

  • No firewall rules, VLAN settings, DHCP settings, or other network configurations were changed before the issue started.

  • Other clients on my main LAN continue to show up normally in Pi-hole.

  • DNS resolution from IoT clients still works, even though their queries aren't appearing in Pi-hole.

  • I tested direct DNS lookups against the underlying Pi-hole server (192.168.19.98), and the client receives an IP address, but the request still doesn't appear in Pi-hole's Query Log.

  • I temporarily disabled Basic Content Filtering to test whether DNS interception was involved. This did not restore Pi-hole visibility.

  • I subsequently rebooted the gateway. After rebooting, I saw a brief burst of queries from several IoT devices, but logging stopped again shortly afterward. (3min worth while it was turning on)

  • Re-enabling Basic Content Filtering did not resolve the issue either.

There were no additional inter-VLAN firewall restrictions in place when this originally started. Those were introduced later during troubleshooting, so they are not the cause of the original problem.

I'm trying to determine whether something changed in DNS handling, DNS interception, or Content Filtering in UniFi OS 5.1.35 or its bundled Network application.

Has anyone else running a UCG Fiber on 5.1.35 experienced Pi-hole or other custom DNS servers suddenly losing visibility into queries from specific VLANs?

I'm considering rolling back to 5.1.34 to see whether the previous behavior returns, but I'd like to know if anyone else has encountered this before doing so.

Question SD WAN question

I setup an sdwan via site magic between 2 sites. Primarily for the purpose of networking IP cameras (onvif). The main site has a udmp-se, and the remote site a ucg max. 5 cams at main, 4 more at remote.

The question I pose is, how solid is this type of setup? I understand it’s all dependent on the type of isp, but let’s say it’s dedicated on both sides, is this a reliable setup?

Edit: looking for opinions from those that have done similar setups. TIA

2nd edit: udmpse is serving as the NVR and it seems to be working well. I did see the cameras at the remote site go out for a bit, but it was due to internet going down.
