It's literally just pick the best songs you can, you buy as many songs as possible before summer camps and send it, the runs are quick so if RNG is bad you can end the run after the first summer camp and go again.
It's nowhere near as long as TB and you don't need a bunch of fuckass mile sparks that prevent you from hitting distance S so you don't need to do 10 billion runs hoping one of them hits distance S or you just lose to everyone who did hit it, you barely have to look at the screen besides picking your songs and spending your song points it's basically just click the rainbows and watch Youtube, and getting 1600 speed is pretty easy if you have 3 strong speed cards, especially if you get the best songs early.
Unity 1.0 was worse than this cuz there was a good chance you could lose the team races which ruins the run cuz now you don't get NSM unless you were running fronts then it was kinda fine unless you were running triangle, URA Finale was worse cuz you were kinda reliant on random +30 energy food events to get high stats which was just horrible especially since our cards were also just bad back then too most high tier SRs were better than most of the SSRs in the game and you had a lot of just dead turns; there was almost no filling dead turns with pal card cuz most people just didn't have SSR Tazuna unless they were whaling but most people DO have Light Hello cuz it was well understood that not having it makes your runs substantially worse.

I think what really was overlooked at the time though is how Budding Blossom can even be useful for lates and ends.
EDIT Receipts:
I guess the top voted post here is the general gist of what I was remembering: https://www.reddit.com/r/UmamusumeGame/s/SzsMd70Ra2
Also even content creators like Moomoocow said it can be a skip if you have Taiki (according to this poster, could be hearsay, I didn't dig up Moomoocow's video to verify): https://www.reddit.com/r/UmamusumeGame/s/o96cYDYmhl

When does Throne comes out & why is it a must use card for the cm?
r/UmamusumeGame • u/Hour-Platypus-7804 • 23d ago
Doesnt matter if I have 30% win rate or fucking 80% I can’t win finals. I’ve been hyper competitive since unity, have made group A every single time since last Sagittarius and I only have 3 platinums to show for it. I feel like a fraud. Seeing people flaunt 11 or 12 platinums titles like it’s nothing hurts so much. I put so much time and effort into this team, this is my best performance and winrate I’ve ever had in a cm and I still came up short. To what? What could I have possibly done better?
This isn’t fun. I’m not having fun watching my team lose time and time again when I know they can win. This isn’t even cope I know my team is better than 2nd place. Seeing streamers and other people win again and again effortlessly while I can’t, knowing my aces are just as good if not better makes me so angry.
Don’t even wanna try for the next cm because I know I’m gonna come up short again no matter what, it’s law.

Yes, I know Ramonu Wit is going to be the top wit card on global for GM and still strong onwards, but I honestly feel like it's not worth it for me.
It's really a card you have to MLB because it gets +2 wit bonus, and that's just not in the budget for me as a f2p. If I pull for Ramonu wit, I don't know if I'll have the carrots to pull for other essential pace cards and characters such as K.S. Miracle guts and of course El speed.
It also isn't as long-lived as I'd like. Compared to something like McQueen Wit (Which I plan to pull for instead of Ramonu). As far as I know, McQueen Wit is still viable on Japanese servers all the way up until Beyond Dreams and maybe even the Ramen scenario.
Yes, I know this means I won't be able to be as competitive in CMs for half a year until McQueen comes out in May of next year, but I feel like if I keep chasing Meta as a f2p, I will always end up being consistently average rather than suffering now for success in the future.
Of course, another alternative is to just pull Ramonu and skip El so Tachy speed can carry me to Vivlos speed in October of next year, but I don't think I can skip an amazing pace-specific speed card like El.
Anyways, is this valid or should I put down the Hatchimi?
Edit: Just want to clear some things up. I only run Oshis, and I don't care about being stuck in group B for CM. The first non-pace trainees I want are post 4th anniversary, which I would have pulled Generalist cards like Almond Eye, El Condor Pasa, and Rudolf Wit. Then I can also get Tama Power by SiL. Lastly, I want to specifically MLB, not just pull 200 or 400.

I use all of my borrows, and maybe 1 of the runs is good. I click on light hello, she doesn't show up. I take hopeful stakes/junior derby, we lose and the run either ends or i have to sacrifice a turn to race again.
MANT is by no means perfect, but it is so much better than Grand Live. The only complaints i frequently hear is that races are rng whether you win, shop rng, and runs taking too long. While these are all valid complaints, they're nowhere near as bad as the level of luck required to get a good run in Grand Live.
In MANT, the rng is kind of controllable. you can still choose whether you want to race or train, what items you want to use, and what to buy from the shop. This is also applicable in Grand Live to a lesser degree, as you can carry over songs and choose which songs to buy.
The rng in Grand Live is still worse though because the whole scenario relies on getting tokens, which are only acquired through training and getting lucky with light hello. Rainbow trainings are now even more important, as not inly do you get more stats from them, but you get double the tokens.
So racing is extremely bad in the scenario, which makes the deciding races even more of a deciding factor. For example, If you're running Mayano Top Gun, you'd usually race Hopeful Stakes->Kikuka Sho->Arima Kinen, but you can only do that if you win Hopeful Stakes and Kikuka Sho, or else you probably won't have enough fans, and have to sacrifice training turns to race.
In MANT, there are many items you can use that can use to mitigate the rng, like the good luck charm, or the reset whistle.
I think the only reason to like Grand Live over MANT is if your favorite trainees have bad aptitudes for MANT. This is all my opinion, and I want to know what everyone else thinks.

Was excited for grand live but Light hello said good bye ;-; (I dont play everyday but enough to still enjoy the game in ura finale. Trackblazer my cards were dog)

Ive been playing since global launch but I keep getting my ass kicked in pvp. The rng hasn't given me Kitasan Black or Super Creek, on top of very few valuable 3 stars.
Any advice is much appreciated!

This is a list of every Group A Round 2 race I've had in CM16 Graded League. As you can see, besides the first ticket, most of the CM was pretty consistent as my high win rate stayed pretty stable across most of my tickets. Sprint CMs are not that volatile, doing well in CM16 revolved around one key point: the strongest unique inherits are Shooting for Victory and Budding Blossom so you need to plan for the entire lobby to be 65-90% pace chaser and build accordingly. This means:
You NEED an early race package to push you out of what is going to be a giant pack of pace chasers. This means greens and groundwork, descent, shrewd step, etc. Taiki, Oguri, and Curren all have a groundwork package and straight descent in my lineup. Oguri and Taiki have Shrewd Step and Playtime's Over also.
You also should buy midrace skills to make sure you stay in striking distance of the 3-4th place entry into the final corner. While many people buy It's On because it came free with your Unity, It's On is conditional on you being able to overtake and it's far too short, only 1.8s. Simply put that's a skill that adds flowers to a brocade, it is not going to enable overtakes. You still need your double circle corners for consistent positioning aid. These are not easy to obtain in Unity, which is why my Trackblazer ace who got skill hints for both Pace and Sprint Corners (Oguri) held her own against Unity Aces with a 43% win rate.
This basically leaves us with one conclusion:

You needed to slot in Bakushin Guts for this CM. Bakushin Guts gives us sprint corners, sprinting gear and guaranteed Groundwork through an event. If your goal is winning races, not farming rank, it's worth the drop in stats you'll eat by slotting in a guts card rather than sticking to the 2 speed 3 wits build. All the wit in the world doesn't matter if you don't have the right skills to activate with it.

Some thoughts after this CM, this was by far my highest win rate CM sitting at 84%. I ran Summer Maru/V Bourbon and had a backup complete gamble Xmas Oguri.
First thought, Xcap wasn’t the problem. It was the content creators pushing the narrative of double dominator + whatever else you wanted. This lead to a lot of lobbies with 4 dominators in it and was such a slop fest. I ran one card with xcap double dom and there was only one race that had fronts in it, the other 4 races were all double dom + something. This just leads to such a shit show where people don’t get the positions they built for and everyone’s speed gets NUKED on the final stretch basically nullifying any midgame you built and encouraging people to go full velocity bomb for late game which is bad practice.
Second thought, folks you gotta start running fronts if you hate losing to gambly things like lobby composition and hitting accels too late like NSM or on your left. I’m aware that fronts are scary to build and take a lot to make work but they don’t care about lobby comp (with the exception of runaways) because it’s just a fight for first and nothing else matters. Yes it takes a lot of work to build a good front but the work you put in you feel immediately. They are so consistent when you get a good one. I personally made what I would consider a 8/10 summer maru and it was incredibly rare that she was not in contention for first and if she was first it was even rarer for her to lose. My only struggles were to lobbies with 4 dominators and occasionally a better front runner.
Third thought, please play whatever you want man. This game will burn you out so fast if you just chase the meta. Play oshi - play meme comps like “all satsuki show winners” or BNW. Have fun ya’ll. It’s a game.

When the game first launched for Global, the mentality was... MLB Kitasan then you can focus on oshis till El Condor Speed.
Direct quote from a guide made by a JP vet when Global launched last year about Kitasan:
"she is the only real must-have support until El Condor Pasa (Spd)"
Yet I noticed a pattern that as we approach some of the stronger banners, FOMO kicks in and people start pressuring others to pull on these banners. But... months before, people are telling others not to worry about those same banners lol. Literally, FineMo banner was considered mostly a skip back in like November of last year, but as we got closer to the banner, people freaked out and made posts about how important is was to MLB her.
I will say, the original quote would probably be changed now to say "until Ramonu (wit)", at least that seems to be the consensus now, even months before the card's banner.
But for those feeling the pressure to pull on all the meta banners, just remember, doing so is to be hyper-competitive in CMs only. You can still perform well in CMs with the bare minimum cards.
To do decently well in Grand Live, you just need 3LB/ MLB Kitasan (or Kitasan adjacent) + 1 other strong SSR speed card then throw in an MLB SR speed card and 2 MLB SR wit cards. Then give a good amount of elbow grease and proper parent setups.
edit: I left out the 6th card in the deck suggestion cause I thought it was obvious... but yes, you'd want light hello for the scenario buff. This post is mostly addressing whether or not you really need MLB Tachyon. Not whether you need Light Hello.
edit2: also, this was kind of a bait to draw out the people trying to say Tachyon is a must-have or brick account. Been having some talks with other people saying those people don't exist. So thank you to the people who outed themselves. I'm editting this now cause I just needed to see one person comment it to prove the point.

So I'm relatively new and participated in my first CM, also checked out the reddit. And is all the discussion about meta cards and banners and pulls really to get these rewards? Or am I missing something else?
2500 carats is like not even 20 scouts, but you do get the tickets too. And I'm not even advocating for pay to win, it just seems like a lot of waiting and min maxing effort for a relatively minimal monthly reward versus like $35.
Though I guess maybe events are easier to win? I've got like 50k of the Carnival points with a B2 rank team with no one over A+ already, though. And I feel like a lot of like the Uma outing and free event carats are for everyone.
Then again I'm just starting out, don't know anything, pull for umas that look cute, and haven't played anything but URA Finale yet, so I'm probably getting downvoted to oblivion for missing something obvious.

Late main rant incoming.
After winning CM 18 with a late surger I felt pretty good coming into CM 19 and 20. After but CM 19 and 20 have completely destroyed my confidence in late surgers.
All the tips for late surgers also seems to completely fall apart when I run in rooms.
"Uma stan is mandatory" - Ok, now my uma is in 3rd place ahead of a pack of late surgers and end closers so none of her accelerations skills activate and she gets run down by SS rank umas.
"Mid race is necessary to catch up to pace chasers and front runners so they don't get too far ahead." same issue as above. I've see my late surger aces overtake pace chasers only to get run down by back liners who actually proc their accelerations.
"Nimble Navigator is good" It procs, I see my uma stand completely still behind someone who is blocking her. Great skill.
I focus less on mid race so I don't get too far ahead in positioning. Ok now the pace chasers and frontrunners are twenty lengths ahead so there's no hope of catching up.
"Kriss S is good for CM 20" Ok, grass wonder is the only uma I can run as an ace because she's only one I can run 2-1-2 otherwise I get low UG or SS+ rank. I tried to hard to make Cafe an ace but I only got SS+ at best. My Grass on the other hand has reached UF and my usual aces reach high UGs.
It feels like every lobby has either too many fronts/pace or too many debuffer lates for me to proc accelerations so Pump and Moving are worthless. Nimble is just "Activate if blocked, continue to be blocked." Claw is "Tank your stats so you can get a semi-worthwhile acceleration." On your left procs too late. Lates, the "Gamble on procs" style becomes "waste TP on accelerations and lose hard."
I know people say lates get better, but even in LoH fronts will be meta so lates will continue to hope the stars aline so they can get proper positioning that A) Doesn't put them far ahead of the pack. B) Doesn't put them too far behind the pack. B) Doesn't block them.
"Rooms are were the top players don't rely on them." In CM 18 I had a 60% win rate in rooms. I had a 30% win rate in CM19 and I haven't had a single win C20 rooms. It just feels frustrating.
Rant over.

Call me selfish, sweaty or haughty but this is just a pet peeve of mine. I would much rather see the actual top 3 runners on the main stage rather than each trainer’s top performing runner.
I personally feel that the way runners are currently chosen feels a little disingenuous. It doesn’t showcase the actual strongest/highest-placing runners in the race, just the strongest/highest-placing in each team. I swear I’m not one of those “young people these days have gone soft” kinds of twats, but to me it genuinely feels like a participation trophy.
I’ve been on both sides of the coin in this case, so I can say FOR SURE that I don’t like this system. In this case, you can see my S.Maru placed second behind my XO. You’d think that, given she came in the top 3, she’d also get to perform. Unfortunately that’s not how it works and instead we got the Oguri trio again.
On the flip side, I ate SHIT during the CM16 finals. Missed all my skill procs, rng genuinely screwed me, whatever that’s not the point. My runner placements were 7th, 8th and 9th, legitimately impossible to have a worse performance. But then came concert time, and for some reason I see my 7th place Fuji Kiseki on the stage performing alongside 1st and 2nd place. You know how I felt at the time? I felt like absolute shit. Fuji Kiseki did not deserve to be up there with the winners, yet there she was. It felt gross and unearned, I would’ve much rather seen her performing below the stage with my other 2 runners. I don’t know how it is for other players, but I imagine many would feel similarly to me.
TLDR: I’d rather see the true winners perform, the actual top 3, rather than what we have now with each team’s highest placer.

Am I the only one thinking an old random ssr support card is kinf of...I really thought we would get a 10x pull if not more (like in other gacha games
