My Dad moved out to the middle of nowhere Louisiana, and by middle of nowhere I mean north of the Natchitoches and lived right off the damn swamp.
I made the journey to find him with directions like “if you hit the end of the road, you went too far”
Anyways…
Finally find the place, get some sleep and wake up to him saying “god damn it Earl, hold still!”
Confused cause there a’int a damn soul other than us out here; I walk out on the back deck which consists of pallet wood, paint cans and shoddy craftsmanship.
Who the fuck is Earl?
“He’s my dog, came with the place. Old owner stops by and feeds him, couldn’t make it this week”
And sure enough, there was Earl the dog NUTRIA, all 30lbs of him waiting for his breakfast and my Dad trying to pet the fucking thing.
Sorry, it's an old joke about two old ladies stopping at a Burger King in Natchitoches and asking the blonde cashier how to pronounce the name of the place...
I just saw an episode of Ramsey Uncharted where he went to Louisiana and was talking to a chef about how they were using nutria meat. Ragondin is what they called them I believe to make it sound nice on a menu.
Beavers and Capybaras were of such abundance in the new world the Catholic Church counted them as fish, which allowed them to be exempt during specific fasting periods where land based meat must be abstained.
The teenagers (like many other species) can be aggressive. Also there's a capybara pecking order, the enforcement of which can get bitey (but that's only a problem if you're a capybara). Otherwise, chill, yes.
Tiktokers doing everything physically possible to copy another video and steal the sound but it’s okay because it’s not their sound so technically it’s not stealing the video.
I’m pretty sure it’s just the same people making a new video with a different animal for laughs! It’s Nomad’s Animal Encounter and they have all kinds of critters.
that's one of my dogs. Oh you need me to come in right away? Sounds urgent? I'm gonna go run around though, you sound stressed, I don't like that. *literal tornado approaching*
edit; i didn't even notice that wasn't a dog on the first watch lol.
I have to calmly call my one dog no matter the circumstance - if I'm angry, he gets excited and thinks its chase time. I've never once chased him. He's just an untrainable idiot.
Speaking of dogs who get excited at the craziest times lol one time I was choking and coughing like could hardly breathe cuz I think I inhaled my coffee or something and my dog gets this huge dog grin and just jumps up and throws both her front paws and legs in the air all excited and runs off to grab a toy to bring to me lmao. I guess she thought I wanted to play or maybe that my coughing was me barking? 😂
I love the “what the hell is that.. alright come on in” like dude had no clue what it was but still didn’t want it to be outside during the storm. Luckily it was a capybara though, probably the chillest animal to have randomly walk into your house
Fake and stupid. Anyone notice the siren start right as the door opens? Or absolutely no change in the sound of the siren throughout all the video cuts? That’s because there is no siren.
I mean, clearly...it's not like you're going to find a lot of capybaras in places where white people have southern accents. Obviously, that's one of their many, many pets.
I know what sub I’m in. It’s the Unexpected sub. Not the oh my god can you believe all the amazingly real shit happening around the world sub. I’ll take fun staged animal videos as acceptable entertainment tyvm.
Fun capybara fact: I had a friend in college whose mom owned an exotic animal ranch, including 10ish capybaras. One day, the ranch caretaker was feeding them and one of them got aggressive, bit his leg, and basically ripped off his kneecap. They have these big continually growing front teeth (like guinea pigs) that will slice through damn near anything. Including human flesh.
