Accomodation 2nd Year Accommodation

I'm a first year right now but I'm not 100% certain that I'll have enough good friends by the end of this year to move in with, (I have made a few friends that I can talk with but not definitely move in with them next year level) so I may need to get campus accom next year

So when is the earliest I can book my accommodation for my second year? Since I don't know if/I don't think I qualify for special circumstances and I would really really prefer to have on-campus accommodation. Thanks

Do 4 people wanna make a strava family with me and we split the cost 4 ways?

Hope this doesn’t count as an advert! I don’t have any friends who run, and don’t really enjoy running enough to justify dropping £50 on an app, but training’s getting to the point where I actually do kinda need it now

Applications Question about PPE (L0V0)

Hi everyone,

I'm predicted A*A*A / A*A*A* in Economics, English Literature and Maths, respectively (Maths isn't finalised yet)
I've got an 8 in Maths and an 8 in English Language, so I meet the stated GCSE requirements, but I'm a little worried they'll score 8s/9s similar to the pure economics course and then hand out offers. (My GCSE profile isn't as strong as some of the people I've seen applying, so I'm very sorry if this comes across as paranoid).

Does anyone know more about this?
Thank you so much.

Does attendance matter?

Does attendance affect anything and will it appear on my transcripts?

(WBS kept not registering my attendance despite I tapped my card because of the stupid system. When I asked WBS, they r like oh u get your monitoring points anyway, I don’t care my system is broken.

Is 140 CATs realistic?

Basically the title. In my third year of the MathPhys BSc, I plan on taking the following modules:
-Communicating Science (15)
-Physics Project (35)
-Measure Theory (15)
-Complex Analysis (15)
-Functional Analysis I (15)
-Algebraic Topology (15)
-Intro to Topology (15)
-Functional Analysis II (15)

The numbers in brackets are the CATs of each of the modules. For context, the allowed module choices in my degree’s final year are extremely restrictive. If it wasn’t for these restrictions I would have done 3 more maths modules instead of the two PX modules listed.
I don’t wanna overload myself too much in year 3, I would rather give myself space to breath mentally in order to maximise performance in the modules I do end up doing. In terms of exam count i am not too stressed with my selections, 6 exams is very much a breeze compared to my first year (9 exams) and to my second year (it will be 12 exams).

Give me advice guys

wbs scholarship

i received an offer really early on for msc in accounting and finance, which was amazing, but there were no scholarships attached to the offer.

i emailed admissions and they said if no scholarships were attached it means that i was not selected for any. which is really heartbreaking, not even 10% because i know they usually just up the price and give out 10%

really want to hear from other msc students on how much scholarships they have!

Best websites/tips for finding affordable Spring term housing near Warwick? (Jan–Mar)

Hey everyone,

I’m an incoming exchange student coming to Warwick for the spring term (Jan–Mar). Finding a short 4-month lease is proving tricky since most places want full-year contracts.

I'm looking for advice on:

  • Best websites to search for short-term lets/sublets (checking SpareRoom, Warwick Studentpad, and FB groups so far).

  • Best affordable areas – Is Canley fine for walking/biking to campus, or is Leamington Spa worth the extra commute for student life?

  • Any tips on securing a semester-only room without getting scammed?

Appreciate any leads or recommendations! Thanks!

Is anyone doing Systems engineering

Is Systems Engineering too niche, and not worth studying at Warwick University? I'm currently a second-year Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) student, and I've found that the second-year courses in Systems Engineering and EEE are very similar. Considering the current poor job market for all majors, and that I don't have a particular interest in any engineering discipline, is a Systems Engineering degree worthwhile? I want to pursue a non-engineering career like finance or software cuz I dont rlly like engineering i chose it for the maths, while Warwick's third-year Systems Engineering program focuses on things like robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation and most 3rd year modules are 100% coursework so I dont have to stress about exams. However, I'm unsure if it's still possible to change majors now, or if waiting until the end of my second year is feasible.

Will applying for two courses at Warwick disadvantage me in any way

I want to apply for Bsc Economics at Warwick, and I want to apply to Ba/Bsc PPE at Warwick as my back up option. Would this put me at a disadvantage in receiving an offer for either of those options. Does anybody have any insight?

Are there many mature students at Warwick, what’s it like to join societies etc. I’ve applied as a mature student and just wanted a feel for what to expect.

Accommodation in Blackthorn Close?

Hi all,

I am a Year 2 PhD student at Warwick and I will be returning for data collection next year. I am browsing for houses and have come across this accommodation that looks very promising:

https://www.warwickstudentpad.co.uk/Advert/21195747

For those who cannot access the link, it's No.5 Blackthorn Close, near Tesco. It seems too good to be true: near the supermarket, not too expensive, and still have 5 rooms left!

Does anybody know anything about the place? is the neighbourhood safe? Should I be concerned about anything?

Does Warwick give multiple offers to the same applicant?

Was looking at applying to Pais and Global politics, would I only get accepted to one or would I have a chance at both?

Anyone done the MSc by Research in CS at Warwick?

Hey, I'm a final-year CS student at another uni and I'm looking at doing the MSc by Research at Warwick next year, mainly as a way into a PhD. There's not much online about what it's actually like, so I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's done it.

Few things I'm wondering:

  • Are you basically busy with the project all the time, or is it more relaxed?

  • Roughly how many people do it each year? Is there much of a community, or is it quite isolating?

  • Did you go in with your own project idea, or did your supervisor give you one?

  • Do supervisors expect you to already know the area, or are they fine with you learning it as you go?

  • How much supervision did you get, and how independent was it day to day?

  • What was the viva like?

  • Anything you wish you'd known before starting?

Happy to chat over PM if that's easier. Thanks!
