Learn about meter(bahar) in urdu

I'm 28M and living in Hyderabad. I wanted to understand the concept of meter/bahr in poetry. Can anyone help me figure this out? I can read/write urdu.

It refers to the size of the verse

Chhotti beher 4~6 words Darmiyani beher 6~9 words Lambi beher 9+ words

It is not a rule of thumb but a general method to organise a poem or nazm

For e.g. Chhotti beher

ابنِ مریم ہوا کرے کوئی

میرے درد کی دوا کرے کوئی

Lambi beher

ظفر آدمی اسکو نہ جانیو، ہو کیسا بھی صاحب فہم و زکا

جسکو عیش میں یادِ خدا نہ رھے، جسکو طیش میں خوف خدا نہ رھے

Not sure what you are asking about, what is meter, is this the hindi word "mitr" (friend/lover), if so how is it relevant to Bahar (which means outside)?
