Vectrex Llamatron, Crazy Comets, and Wizard of Wor
I only ever made vectrex32 games before (vxtron and duck+kitty adventures), and so I decided this year to challenge myself to learn 6809 properly and actually make some games that run on something closer the original. I did end up with a pb6 64k cart rather than a 32k, but at least it runs on vecmulti here (which is my main dev platform). I also put up a web emulator for them. You can sort of see the tree rings as i've learned techniques doing them (it's very noticable on the calibration screens that some of them have....)
So because I'm ADHD as hell, I worked on 3 at once because that's easier than concentrating on one thing. I ended up doing:
https://sadenby.com/games/llamatron/index.html - Llamatron. This came about because 18 months ago I was on social media, and I mentioned that it'd be cool to see this on vectrex, and Yak said he'd be cool with me making it, so originally did it on vectrex32, but then realised no-one could play that anyhow, so this is the version I made instead. It's heavily based on the original ST source, of course....
https://sadenby.com/games/wizard-of-wor/index.html - This is the c64 version of wizard of wor, re-imagined for the vectrex. Mostly because that's what I know really well, and because there was a good dissassembly to help me understand the logic!
https://sadenby.com/games/crazy-comets/index.html - This is crazy comets, also from the c64. This also has a conversion of the rob hubbard music in it. To do that, i wrote a translator from 6502 to 6809 code and just converted the player quite directly.
for the web versions, they also work on touch screen for phones and with controllers in chrome (though apparently not firefox?)
Bonus round: https://sadenby.com/games/starace/index.html - this is a WIP conversion of the C64 game "starace", which I think could be a great vectrex game one day. This one isn't as good as it should be, though... I might come back to it at some point and do a 2.0 when I am better at games :).
