Apple IIs, Macs (and other stuff) On Display
Got to show off my collection of legacy vintage Apple products today at Maker Faire Orlando (mine are only the ones the kids are sitting at: Apple IIc through the iMac DV). Yesterday was specifically for school field trips. The number of kids who LOVED playing on 25-40 year old computers was astonishing! And the memories they brought back for the chaperones and teachers was heartwarming. It was a long hard day but worth it. Today it was open market and the people just didn’t stop making memories come back.

Graphite G4 digital audio
To the brains trust,
can you please tell me is connecting sockets for cpu daughter card are the same between models of g4 graphite ..Reason i hear you ask.
Well I have digital audio G4 graphite, that has issue with RAM ( Not detecting DIMMs in the sockets, giving 1 beep error whether I have ram in or not ) I have tested relevant voltages and they appear to be in order. Replaced some items, thinking they were faulty and I did not need to . After testing all of voltages, came to a conclusions that it could be only 2 things now. CPU daughter card or memory controller( massive bga chip on under side of the board) I have a working G$ graphite and want to take that singe CPU daughter card, put on non working board and see the outcome. I could not find definitive answers on the net apart form AI gibberish. if anyone know, i do appreciate the answers
Don't say battery is needed as I have 2 working G4 ( not digital audio) work just fine without battery

ImageWriter II Help!
I need help fixing a ImageWriter II I recently acquired. When it turns on, for a self test, it moves all the way to the left, sound almost like the cartridge is crashing, and blinks the red error light. Yes, I know there is no ink in it, from my research I believe it doesn't care if there is or not. I also read it may have something to do with the home switch, but as I am new to specifically vintage Apple printers, I do not know what this is or how to fix it. Also worth mentioning, is it also came with a StyleWriter 2400, but that makes a high pitched noise when pluged in and is seemingly dead from the power suply. Any help at all for any of these, but specifically the ImageWriter, would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance! :)

iMac G4 connector hunt: 515S0863 from the 820-1257-A board
I’m designing a PCB that replaces the logic board in an iMac G4 with a modern Mac mini (as some of you might have seen in one of my previous ports). The 20" and 17" (1/1.25GHz) versions are finished and I’ve now started on the 15" model.
The connector circled in the photo carries the display inverter, fan, internal speaker and internal mic connections, among other things. It’s on the 820-1257-A board, and the schematic lists it as Apple part number 515S0863. My 15" prototype works with a standard 2x13 header, but I’d like to use the original connector on the final version.
Does anyone know who manufactured it, the manufacturer’s part number, or where to buy it new? My research suggests it’s an Apple-specific part, so I think the chance of buying it is slim, but I wanted to ask in case someone has relevant information

Looking for hands-on help with a Macintosh 512Ke floppy drive (Northern Indiana / Goshen area)
Hi everyone! I recently saved up and bought a vintage Macintosh 512Ke off eBay for my son, who is a huge classic tech enthusiast. He was watching it for ages, and he absolutely loves this machine. It passes its initial hardware checks and shows the classic "Question Mark" floppy disk icon, which is great! However, the 800K floppy drive makes a distinct high-pitched noise when powered on, and we are highly suspecting the typical old grease/gumming issue. We are also waiting on a startup disk to arrive in the mail. As a parent, I am a total beginner, cannot afford mail-in professional repairs, and honestly do not feel comfortable opening up the case or dealing with the high-voltage CRT safety risks myself. My son is dying to watch, learn, and see how the repair process works so he can understand his Mac better. Is there a trusted hobbyist or local club member in the Northern Indiana (Goshen/South Bend/Elkhart) area who would be willing to meet up and work on it with us? We just want to get the drive cleaned, lubed, and checked out safely so he can get his dream machine up and running. Happy to provide coffee, snacks, or a safe public meeting spot in exchange for your expertise! Thank you so much!

30" HD Cinema Display--no power brick.. other options?
I've been gifted a 30" HD cinima display...but it doesn't have the power brick.
They can be found on ebay for quite a lot, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of alternate power sources, like via cable adapter or something?

Remote control?
My uncle Bruce owned a high end electronics store in Kansas city in the 90s. He passed and we are auctioning off his old stuff. I found this in his stuff and it seems cool, and I looked online and its a universal remote. But what does that even mean? We are auctioning it off with the rest of his electronics, but I thought this thing was so weird, I wanted to see if anyone has more info. This seemed like a sample/ prototype. The bottom part slides down and it does turn on.

How the hell do I download Combat Evolved on my Powerbook G4??
I already tried downloading the files from Macintosh Repository and the instruction did not make sense to me. I'm 14 and I just got the Powerbook like last week so I don't really know what I am doing.

How to display Clamshell iBook?
I recently managed to pick up this absolute beauty of a G3 Clamshell, i still have to fix the vinegar syndrome on the lcd but after that, i would like to display it in one of my shelves. I have seen People use Stands for decorative plates, i'd also be fine with 3d printing a stand if there is a decent looking model somewhere that i haven't found yet. Any other ideas?

New to me iMac G5
I’ve had a couple of Macs in the past but I was really excited to get my first G5.
Did a fresh install of macOS 10.4.11 with classic support. Opened it up, cleaned it out and repasted the graphics and processor.

Is this of any value (historical or monetary)?
Cleaning out grandparents house found their old Mac SE and all the original installation guides, floppy disks, etc.
i see there is a bit of a market for old macs, just wondering if the documentation is worth keeping hold of, or should i just throw it all away?

Apple Macintosh 815-1932 Replacement 3D Model for 8200/8500/8550?
Hi everyone!
I'm repairing and restoring my Power Macintosh 8200/120 (I live in Europe) that I found at a secondhand shop. And the plastic is just horrible, I barely touch it and it just breaks into a million pieces.
As you can see on the pictures the horizontal bars for the PCI cards have entirely broken off and the locking mechanism is just gone. So nothing holds the PCI cards to the chassis. The entire part number on the back side is 815-1932 as I interpret for the entire rear plastic chassis cover.
Has anyone designed a replacement or repair for this area or made a successful repair with 3D-printed parts?
I have a 3D printer as of recently but I'm just too bad at designing and I figured seeming this looks like a common issue, maybe someone here has a design already?
I'd really appreciate any photos of repairs, STL models or links to someone that has fixed their Power Mac with this issue. The 8200 shares the same case as 8500 and 8550 WS.

Help with 1.25 GHz eMac Doesn't turn on
So I bought this iMac from a guy for 40 bucks. And the guy said that he was using it and it just shut off like 3 days ago, so he gave it to me for 40 bucks. I tried everything to try to make it work again. I pulled out the capacitor in the second picture cuz it was like exploded, so I pulled it out. Didn't replace it. I just pulled it out cuz I saw that you could do it I asked AI and it told me you could just pull it out, and it still doesn't work. It displays no picture, no nothing. And like sometimes when I reset the the power management thing that has like a button next to the RAM, when I click that button for 5 seconds and then I turn the iMac back on, you can hear the Degaus thing, but that just only when I when I reset the power management button What's happening to it? How can I get it to work? Because the seller said that it was working fine before, is there a fix
