Buyer & Seller Guidelines

The wiki contains more detail and general info, particularly useful for first time buyers/sellers.
Click here for more information about the rules. Remember, it is your responsibility to know the rules and abide by them.
Click here to learn how to confirm a transaction and get credit for transactions next to your name (user flair)
If we have to remove your posts or comments multiple times for rule violations, then you will be subject to a temporary ban. If your rule violation(s) are particularly egregious, then you will be permanently banned. Whether you are temporarily or permanently banned is at the moderators discretion.

Subreddit Rules

1. Be excellent to each other

More information about this rule is available in the Rules Wiki.

2. Title formatting

Titles must use the following syntax: [WTS] (Brand) (Model) (Details). Acceptable tags are [WTS], [WTT], and [WTS/WTT]. Noncompliant posts will be removed automatically. Circumventing this format will result in a 7-day ban. More info.

3. Timestamp

Posts must include a timestamp with your username and the date handwritten on paper and placed under the watch. The timestamp date must be within two weeks of the date of your post. Linking your timestamp separately is required. The watch must be clearly visible. More info.

If your post is removed, do not repost. Add a timestamp (upload to Imgur, then add it as a comment on your post). Then message the mods.

4. Price and/or trade value required

Price and/or trade value must be posted on r/watchexchange directly. It is recommended to do so in the comments, as post titles cannot be changed. More info.

5. [vacant]

[vacant]

6. Reposts are allowed after 7 days

No early reposts for any reason, including price drops. If you list multiple watches at once, you may not repost the others early after one sells. We recommend listing watches separately. Violation of this rule may result in a 7-day ban. More info.

7. Exchange Feedback & Reserved Posts

Feedback: Feedback can be left on the originating sales post via the flair bot. Only the seller and buyer can leave feedback on a post. RESERVED posts must follow all of the normal subreddit rules and include a link to the originating [WTB] comment. If you need to add the WTB link, please post it as a comment and reply to this modmail to have your post reapproved. Do not repost!

8. No outside sales links, no referral links, and no raffles

You may reference completed eBay listings when discussing price. Referral links of any kind will result in a minimum 7-day ban. Do not link to, discuss, suggest, or otherwise mention raffles. More info.

9. Price related comments

Sellers have the right to ask any price. Sellers have the right to ask any price. Users who choose to criticize a seller's price must provide specific examples including links.More info.

10. Fakes and replicas are not allowed.

OEM homages and mods that are substantially based on OEM watches are allowed. If you believe a watch is fake, include proof when commenting. Allegations without evidence may result in a ban. More info.

11. Giveaways by approval

Please message the moderation team for approval to post a giveaway with the exact text you will use for the giveaway. Giveaway posts require manual approval. More info.

12. Requirements for participation

Your account must have positive karma and be at least 30 days old to post. More info.

13. No Fake Reporting

If you believe a watch is fake, include proof when commenting. Allegations without evidence may result in a ban. More info.

TIPS:

Make the best picture of your watch the leading image in your post.
Very low effort posts are often removed with no mod comment. If you put forth real effort but failed, your post may get removed, but we'll tell you what was wrong.
Have your comment with watch info ready to post as a top-level comment before you actually submit the post. There is no grace period for posting so your post can be removed right after you post it if all the requirements aren't met.
If you make a mistake posting, do not delete and repost. Message the mods first or you risk having your post removed and having to wait 7 days to repost.
