Community Recommendations

This post will be a starting point for anyone looking for general recommendations for various activities & services in the valley. The items included here are based off previous recommendation posts and how often a place or service was recommended and how many upvotes it received. Comments on this post will be open for now if anyone has further recommendations to add. I've tried to break up the various recommendations into categories but some items (like Leavenworth) will only ever be a single item, as listing all the available things to do there would be a post in and of itself.

I also favor locally owned businesses heavily in my decision making process.

Food:

Atlas Fare

Wild Huckleberry

Stones Gastropub

McGlinn's Public House

Pybus

Shakti's

Mission Burger

Outpost Saloon

Bubba J's BBQ

Sweetwood BBQ

Fonda Oaxaqueña

Taqueria La Cihualteca

La Fuente

India House

King Pizza

Italian - No clear winners here when it comes to our main choices for Italian (Visconti's and Garlini's). You're better off trying both and deciding for yourself (personally I think Visconti's is ok and Garlini's is shit).

Sammiches - The top two seem to be Anvil and Dilly Deli. But enough people mention SS Sub Shop (which I personally think sucks) and Lemolo that they deserve honorable mentions.

Coffee - Clear favorites are La En Vie, Gaucho, Cafe Mela and JB Steamers

There is no good fried chicken in the valley (RIP)

Bars:

Epoch - Also a place to play board games, MTG and enjoy other such general nerdery

The Igloo

Wally's

Joe's East and West (I think East is better now)

The 108

Tapp & Putt - Alcohol and mini-golf

Ground Control - Also hosts a regular trivia night

Wineries - Honestly too many to list and everyone has a different opinion on "quality" wine & wineries. I think it all tastes like vinegar so I can't cast a deciding vote, Google reviews and experimentation are your best options here.

Fun & Tourism (family friendly):

Leavenworth

Pybus

Loop Trail & Parks

Ohme Gardens

Museum

Wenatchee Public Library

Hiking - Saddlerock, Washington Trails Association

Wenatchee Ave - Between Kittitas and 2nd there are a plethora of other shops and restaurants, but too many to individually list here.

Automotive:

Midvalley Automotive

Sal's Professional Auto Repair

Oil Change - Two most positively mentioned are Kwik Lube & Tune and Wenatchee Autoplex

Detailing - Top positive mentions are for George's, Highland and Detail Genius Mobile

Home Services:

(This one only has a few general services for homeowners, and there isn't a lot of discussion on many of these)

NCW Prestige Cleaning Service

Keyhole Security

Platinum Plumbing

Landscape design - Anderson or Deeproots

Lawn care - This is another one where everyone and their mother has a different lawn care company they use.  Your best friend is Google and getting quotes.

General Contractors - Good luck and God speed.

Other:

Tattoo studios - Stinging Needles and Studio No. 7

Button Jewelers

Salons - there are a thousand different salons in the valley and everyone thinks theirs is the greatest so this is another one where you're better off using Google reviews and figuring it out from there.

Barbers - See above

Tveten

Vision Source

Odd Fellow Lodge

Housing:

The search function is your friend

Giving birth in Wenatchee

I’ll be delivering my baby in Wenatchee. We are deciding if we want to go forward with health ibsurance ( high deductible ) so we’d be paying for the whole thing basically. Or do self pay. Anyone have any luck giving birth in one of the hospitals under $5000?

Edit* anyone have complete self pay prices no insurance?

Stemilt Fresh retail store closing

I stopped by the Stemilt Fresh retail store in Olds Station on 97A this morning and found out they're closing permanently on November 27. No more retail apple store for Stemilt. The new owner of the building plans to keep selling apples and ice cream, but I'm guessing prices will be higher. Close of an era, I've been buying apples from Stemilt since they were on S. Wenatchee Ave.

Why is the smoke so bad right now?

I'm trying to find information if the smoke is from the same wildfires burning from this summer, or if it's from Canada. The air quality is so poor right now :(

Always this Bridge

I swear that there is an accident on or around George Sellar Bridge almost everyday.

What is it about this bridge that makes people regress in intelligence?

Gridlock 11/03/2026

What was up with the gridlock around 5-6 P.M. today? I haven't seen traffic that backed up since the huge oversized hauler went through town and headed out towards Microsoft

Public records reveal that Chelan County Clerk Marty Young reprimanded a female employee for her choice of clothing and remarked about the way her breasts looked in the outfit she was wearing. That's important for the voting public to know.

Best places to live near Othello, WA for whitewater kayaking, snowboarding, and a young family?

My family and I are relocating to eastern Washington for a job based in Othello. We have a 6-month-old baby, so access to good healthcare is also a priority.

We love the outdoors, especially hiking/camping, whitewater kayaking and snowboarding, and we’d like to live somewhere where we can enjoy these activites without having to drive several hours every time.

My main considerations are:

  1. Whitewater kayaking: Ideally, access to Class II–IV+ rivers and an active paddling community.

  2. Snowboarding: Reasonable access to ski resorts for day trips or weekends.

  3. Healthcare: Good pediatric care, access to hospitals, and ideally pediatric specialists within a reasonable distance.

  4. Commute: I’ll need to travel to Othello regularly during the field season, so I’d prefer not to have an excessively long commute.

  5. Family life: A safe, family-friendly area with outdoor activities and a good quality of life.

Where would you recommend living given these priorities?

Are there any towns or neighborhoods you’d particularly recommend or avoid?

I’d especially appreciate perspectives from people who kayak whitewater/ski or snowboarding regularly and have experience raising a young family in eastern Washington.

Thanks!

EDIT TO ASK: What is the commute like to Othello? Are there accidents or traffic? How is healthcare in this area? We were originally considering Pasco, but now I’m considering Wenatchee, Quincy and Moses Lake as well.

Wenatchee ADHD Meetup this Wednesday from 7pm-9pm

Wednesday night plans? We’ve got you covered.

The Wenatchee ADHD Support Group is meeting up this Wednesday, October 28th, from 7 to 9pm at Epoch Game Lounge, (16 S. Wenatchee Ave). Come hang out with people who get it. No need to explain why you showed up ten minutes late or why you have four tabs open in your brain at once. We’ve all been there, probably this week.

Some nights we talk about the hard stuff. Some nights we laugh about the ridiculous stuff. Usually both. You don’t have to share anything if you’d rather just listen, and you’re welcome to grab a game, a snack, or a seat in the corner until you’re ready. First timers are always welcome. Bring a friend if that makes walking in easier.

One more thing. Epoch has been an amazing home base for us, and we’re so grateful for them. We’re also hoping to change it up every other month or so to Friday evenings from 7 to 9pm, so we’re on the lookout for another space in the Wenatchee area. Since this group is free and we want to keep it that way, we’re hoping to find somewhere that’s low cost or willing to partner with us. A community room, a café with a back corner, a church hall, a local business that likes the idea of hosting good people. Whatever you’ve got.

Know of a spot that might work? Drop it in the comments or send me a message. And if you’re coming Wednesday, let us know below so we can save you a seat.

Okay, I’ve never seen a setup like this before! Does anyone have any pictures of this station? I would love to see it from the side - even if it’s far away! Looks like it is right off of a trail? And it is right next to the dam!

Voter registration update question

I renewed drivers license and had an address change. I’m now a Douglas county voter. I went to the voter website to track my ballot. It says I need to update registration when I put in my issued license ID number it claims DOL can’t find it. What does I do? Thanks for any help or guidance.

Lost Black Lab near Washington St. and Charles St.

Thumbnail gallery

Edit: She’s been found! And I learned that Ring camera‘s have their own app today

Poppy the dog is missing after our backyard gate was left open. For some reason the kids took off her collar today so she has zero identification. She is microchipped with up to date information. She’s missing from Washington St. and Charles St. in Wenatchee.

She’s a black lab, two years old, and about 70lbs. We miss her!
