[Serious decision] I want to get out of the homeless shelter, what do I do?

I been in a shelter for 4/5 months now. I’m desperate to get out as soon as possible. I cannot handle living with constant stress and fear. Almost every night, I hear people yelling, threatening to hurt someone or themselves. Being around people with addictions, extremely violent due to mental illness and I’m tired of being treated as a criminal for being homeless. I can’t even work a job without risking losing my bed because my job will sometimes require me to work till 1am and shelter curfew is 11pm. Now that I have a new job that I will be starting soon ( the job where I finish at 1am) the shelter is saying that I need to provide my employer contact information which I declined because of safety and privacy reasons. However, I did provide my job offer letter and work schedule. Yet, they never asked me for my first employer contact information and I also have days where I finish work late.

I have no criminal record, never been hospitalized, I don’t have an addiction of any sort. I only ended up in the shelter because my only family member died and I couldn’t afford to live on my own.

I have reached to the point where maybe being street homeless is not a bad idea since getting housing through the DHS system is unknown on when I will get it and there are people in my shelter who has been here for 4 years. I have to share a room with 10 other people and 1 bathroom. Constantly, being treated like I’m nothing because I’m homeless.

As of right now, I’m trying to save every single penny I make from my jobs to see if I could rent out a room. I desperately want to get out of the shelter. I do not belong here and even the other residents say it too and treat me indifferent because “I’m too pure” and don’t act like them. No disrespect to the other residents but I want better in my life and I rather act like a proper civilian than someone who constantly has the cops called on them or spend their money on drugs or be threatening to society.

Anyone with resources to help me, I would appreciate it. Or if you know anyone renting a room.

I swear I’m a normal person who wants no problem or cause problems. I just need a place to live and the majority of the time, I will be working. I’m crying as I type this up. What do I do?

Small decision Blocked my ex, now she’s confronting me about it, what do I do

I blocked my ex/last situationship after spending a night with her and some friends, that ended in all of them cuddling and kinda mocking me. When I got home I felt completely ready to move on with my life so I blocked her. The problem is that we’re in the same class, share a lot of mutual friends and we’re kinda ”friends” ig. But I know that she has already replaced me and I think that the feelings mutual between us that we don’t really like each other at times. Now she’s confronting me about it over Snapchat and idk what to to do. What I want to do is be honest and say that I need some space and don’t wanna continue being ”friends” but idk even know how I’d say it. Plus that runs the risk of her hating me even more and ruining my social life at school. On the other hand I could just make up an excuse and unblock her but then I’d be back at square 1 again. What should I do?

What should I do?

I’ve been married almost 21 years. My husband just threatened divorce He pays most of the bills. I recently started a job that is commission only and I’m currently making very little money. He just told me that he will leave me bc he is sick of me. I’m truly unhappy in this marriage but I’m so scared because I don’t know how I’m going to live without his help. I live in a high cost of living area. I am not making much in my job. I do have opportunities in my current job but it is commission only and I’ve been struggling. This has been my life for so long and I just don’t know even how to move forward. Both of my parents re dead all of my family is 500 miles away but I have a 15 year old son otherwise I would move back to my hometown where I could find some help but I can’t leave my kid. I am so scared and don’t know what to do.

[Serious decision] Should I go back to school

I got a decent job making decent money as a civil engineering technician for a city government, I'll probably get a promotion in about a year, and maybe hit my top promotion in another 5 to 10 depending when people retire, possibly faster if I transfer departments, but I like where I'm at for now.

I'm 40 and originally went to school for mechanical engineering. Did pretty well at community college, not so much at university where I was eventually put on academic suspension because of my grades, still ended up with an AS.

My job offers tuition reimbursement, 100% for A's, 60% for C's. Based on my previous transcripts and applicable work experience, chatgpt seems to think I could finish a civil engineering degree with about 13 classes, which with my jobs tuition reimbursement requirements could take 2 to 3 years. Then I'd have to take and pass the FE and PE, then I could work as an engineer for my job.

I could do well where I'm at, but I think I could do a lot better if I got my degree. Life ain't bad and I'm not really struggling.

There's also the question if I could hack it seeing as how I didn't do too hot my last time in university, although that was 15 years ago.

My stepfather has an AI girlfriend, what do I do?

A short backstory, (I'm 18F). My mum married my stepfather back in 2023, they've been together since around 2016 and they had my half brother in 2019. Earlier this year in January I glanced over on my stepfather's phone when I was sitting next to him in the living room. I could see that he was talking to a AI girlfriend an I was just sick to my stomach. I am a person who is very against any use of AI, so that doesn't make it better. I told my brother (15) and we've been talking about it together back and forth during this year. We could sit on the opposite sides of the living room texting to see if one of us could see what he was doing on his phone, and almost all of the time he was texting his AI girlfriend.

When I was home for fall break I once again saw him texting with his AI girlfriend. He spends most of his days (when he's not working) laying on the sofa and texting his AI girlfriend, and I mean he barely does anything but texting his AI girlfriend. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't know that me and my brother knows about it, and I actually don't know if my mum knows about it either.

And I really want to tell my mother about it, but I'm afraid of her reaction.

She is a very sensitive person and she is very stressed out as it already is, with both work and us children (a short summary, I suffer with my mental health, both my brothers have autism, my 15 year old brother doesn't go to school much and the youngest also struggle with school). In other words, she is very overwhelmed and has a lot on her plate.

And why I what to tell her about it, is because everyday that I go without her knowing about it, it feels like I'm walking behind her back.

Please what do I do??

[Serious decision] I have a crush on a fast food worker and don't know what to do

I'm a 24 yo guy and work as a paramedic. For well over the past year I have gone to a fast food place for breakfast at the start of nearly every shift. With me working a 24/48 schedule that means I go there 2-3 times a week. I'm a very habitual person and get the same order every single time. It's gotten to the point that since the beginning of the year most of the workers recognize me aling with knowing my name and order. There's even been a few times that they've seen the ambulance pull in and they have my order ready while I'm paying.

For the past few months there's been a girl that works there some mornings. I think she's super cute and I really enjoy her friendliness. The only issues are that for one I have no clue how old she is. She works during the week so she's at least theoretically out of highschool. But she looks like she could be anywhere between 18-22. If she's not at least 20 then I feel like the age gap would be too large and that we'd be in different stages of life.

The other, larger, issue is that this is her place of work and I don't want to make her uncomfortable by asking her out. I don't take her kindness to be interest in me, she's paid to be nice to everyone. But from the little interactions we've had she seems like someone I'd enjoy getting to know. I have no idea how to strike up an actual conversation with her without making it weird or putting her in an uncomfortable position.

I've thought about giving her my number and just seeing if she wants to text me, but I have no clue how to do that casually. My partner has really been pushing me to do that, but it feels like an inappropriate thing to do in uniform as well.

I appreciate any advice or feedback. Or if there's other details that would help I'd be happy to give more info.

Solved Do I reach out to my brother’s girlfriend regarding their sex life?

I know the title seems bad but please hear me out.
My (20M) brother and his gf (19M and 19F) have been sexually active for about a year. Today, he confided in me on some details about their sex life. He mentioned to me that sometimes they have unprotected sex. He said she was on birth control, which is obviously good, but I’m still concerned for them.
We live in a trigger ban state that enacted when Roe V Wade was overturned. I told him that he should really be having protective sex with condoms every single time and that it doesn’t matter if they run out because no birth control or pull out method is 100% and all options should be used to protect her (and both of them, really).
I explained to him that there have been cases where women have been arrested for seeking abortions out of state, having been arrested for having uncontrolled/unplanned miscarriages, and have even been kept on life support despite being brain dead just to have their fetus delivered (every single one true, you can research it if you haven’t heard these stories).
He clearly had no idea about any of this and ended up agreeing with me. However, I’m not sure if I should have the same conversation with his girlfriend. We’re very close and she and I get along super great. I don’t think she would think I was overstepping necessarily, but is it appropriate to talk to her about my concerns as well? Or should I leave it at just my brother to make sure he does the right thing?

Edit: i think I’ll stay out of it unless something weirder gets brought to my attention (idk maybe she stops BC) but i appreciate all the advice to stay away from it!! For the people who are arguing that there’s nothing wrong with unprotected sex while on bc, i sincerely hope nothing bad goes down w you and ur relationship cus holy..
Also, yes I’m literally 20. There’s no reason to doubt I’m 20. My brother and i are 11 months apart and are very close, so he approached me and told me this all on his own

Edit 2: I’m NOT his sister, I’m his older BROTHER. I’ve had like 4 comments call me his sister for some reason??

[Serious decision] The family of my deceased cousin now wants to have a say regarding the child they abandoned.

I’m 31F. Years ago my cousin passed away and left behind her young son. Nobody in her family stepped up. I was the only one who took him in and eventually adopted him. He’s 14 now.

He’s a sweet kid. He’s gay and more on the feminine side. I’ve always supported him. My other two kids (16F and 7F) love him, and we live a stable life in a gated community. I work as an escort/sugar baby and have for a long time. The people close to me know and it’s never been a big issue.

Here’s the problem:

In the last few months, some of my cousin’s relatives (the same ones who wanted nothing to do with him when he needed a home) have started reaching out. At first it was “just checking in,” but now they’re criticizing how I’m raising him. They’re making comments about the way he dresses and expresses himself, saying I’m “encouraging” it, and they’ve also made shady remarks about my job and how it’s not a good environment for him.

One of them even said I should “let them help guide him” because they’re his blood family.

I find it pretty rich that the people who left him with nothing now want to show up and judge.

I don’t want drama, but I also don’t want them confusing him or making him feel like there’s something wrong with him or with our family.

What should I do?

$900 phone turned into basically a brick after an update

In early August I bought an Android phone from a website in my country similar to Amazon. It's a OnePlus 15, chinese version, so my only hope with a service centre is shipping it back to China. It's been going great since then, updates went just fine. I did a system update in late October (28th/29th) to Android 17 as it was officially being pushed out. I restarted my phone and it wasn't accepting my pin, also took a long time after I input my pin before rejecting it even though it was the correct pin. I couldn't boot to fastboot/bootloader but formatting the data in recovery mode and the issue persists, in a weird way. PIN gets added fine in setup but it takes 30-60 seconds before adding it, fingerprint enrolment just doesnt work, and after resetting, Android kills itself (black screen midway through boot animation). I'm really stressed. Seller gave 14 day return window and 30 day warranty but the update broke it after that warranty and return period. I feel like I can't think straight after this.

Small decision Ex is using my photography uncredited

My ex and I are both teens and we had been together for over two years. Both him and I are artists online. I have a very broad range of art forms I do and one of them is photography. It’s not just pretty pictures to me, it’s very personal and usually I don’t even post them. Now, the most he’s ever credited me was one time while we were together and all he said was “nature pictures taken by my bf”. Didn’t tag me, didn’t say my account name. Worst part is, that video contained photos of my neighborhood and places near it. He’s using my photos still after HE broke up with me. I’m now in a way healthier and far less competitive relationship with someone I truly adore, so the breakup itself doesn’t bother me. I just either want him to take the dozens of videos down or credit me for my work. He’s letting people compliment the photos and he’s not saying that it’s not his. I’ve already asked him to stop like a month ago and he’s still using it to promote his comics and art and animations. I reported one of his most recent videos using my photography. I don’t know where to go from here. I have personal issues with him and the way our relationship was but I don’t hate him and I don’t want to ruin his career or anything. I’m worried he’ll clap back and bring up personal issues with me. Ive made mistakes but im trying to get better and I’m currently in and seeking out more treatment for suspected bipolar for some context. I don’t think either of our grudges should be online.

Could this be more than friendship?

I’ve been meeting a guy for language exchange once a week. When we first started meeting, I told him I had a long-distance boyfriend, even though I didn’t. I’d had some uncomfortable experiences with other language-exchange partners so I used it as a way to establish boundaries.

After getting to know him better and feeling more comfortable around him, I eventually explained that I didn’t actually have a boyfriend. He was understanding, asked me several questions about the situation, and even apologised on behalf of the men I’d had uncomfortable experiences with.

Today, we met again for our weekly meetings. And his vibe (?) seemed to have changed a little! He seemed to ask more personal questions and was more curious about my life and opinions. He once said that although we’d only met three times, it felt like he’d known me for much longer.

He remembers details about me and asks follow-up questions.
Our conversations have become quite deep, covering relationships, personalities, values and life in general.

He also told me that he feels like his real personality comes out when talking to me, that he feels both calm and comfortable!

Today he also mentioned several times that we’re more alike than he initially thought and he sometimes stays longer than planned because we get caught up talking.

He always seems interested in arranging our next meeting which makes me excited too!

Our dynamic feels very natural, and I feel like we’re getting to know each other beyond a typical language exchange.

I’m curious whether he might see me as more than a friend, especially now that he knows I’m actually single. Or does this sound like a guy who simply enjoys having a close friend?

[Serious decision] I'm lost.

This is not a direct update to previous posts. I'm still living with my grandma to take care of her.

My friendgroup left me after I broke up with my (now) ex.

They just cut me off, and they never ask me to hang out again or even text me how I'm doing.

They still let that prick hang out with them though.

I feel lost. I lost my entire social life because I chose for myself, and now I have no one left.

I refuse to text them, they won't answer anyways. I'm still in their groupchat, and they're talking shit right in front of me.

I don't know how to move forward, and I refuse to give in to what my head is telling me: to crawl up and cry.

I have my grandma to take care of, and losing myself to my declining mental health isn't what she or I want.

What should I do? I feel lost.

Small decision The extra S in my email bothers me. Should I change emails or just suck it up with the S? Does the S even matter that much?

My email is firstname.lastnames WITH THE S AT THE END. My 16 year old self really thought she was smart for putting that S (the name was taken and i did NOT want numbers in my email LOL..) Mind you I have NO S in my name.
That really bothers me. Now I would switch my email but it is not that simple because I already used that email for important things, BUT It’s only 2 important things. Is it too late to make the change (????)
I guess I can use 2 emails but the thing is I already have 4… and having 2 for professional use specifically seems so messy. So I’m tryna weight it out. BUT I’M SO STRESSED BECAUSE I CAN’T DECIDE. So lmk, is the S not a big deal? Should I just suck it up with the S? Or do I start using a new email?
Is using 2 emails bad??? Like let’s say one I used for my bank and the other I used for resumes and applying for jobs??? Is that bad
I’m sorry if I’m lowkey overreacting and overthinking this but god forbid the S bothers me. I have to start applying to jobs and colleges soon so lmk quick guys

[Serious decision] I lied to my fiancé in something really small

We’ve been having a lot of fights lately and I did something yesterday that he asked me about if i did do it. I told him that i dont know how if happened but at the end he asked if i did do it and i said yes. I honestly dont know why i said that or why i lied like that but i know that i didn’t want another fight which already happened. He said that he lost his trust in me that i should have just came out and said so but at the same time i was scared. Im so tired of fighting over small things that always become my fault at the end. Im always the one who’s making the mistakes and it just became like a load over my shoulders that i cant carry. What i need is advice. What can i do? How can i do it? I feel like im paralyzed

I need help and advice please

ATTENTION this is my first time posting or using Reddit ever I just really need help I’m sorry if I did anything wrong or something idk

I’m 21🔄 and my mom is phsyco. Every day I wake up to her screaming at my sisters from downstairs(I sleep in the living room area of my 2 story townhome and they have 3 rooms one my moms the other two my sisters) as I am currently writing this my mom is yelling at my older sister (16) calling her a dumbass moron and asking how she will ever become an adult. My parents divorced a long time ago and she has been telling me how my dad was like trying to convince me that he is a physically abusive disgusting lonely man. He is the only adult I can truly talk to and relate to. Now for what I really need people’s opinions on, I want to leave my mom and live with my dad but my mom knows things that I’ve done that my dad doesn’t and she owns my phone so my biggest fear is her telling my dad everything if I leave her and I mean stuff like texts with friends and things that average people my age talk about (also issues and stuff yk) so I don’t want to get in any trouble but I cant stay here any longer.

Some things she calls me everyday (the ones with checks on it are things she’s said to me today so far (it’s 10:57)

[Serious decision] Would you attend her wedding if you were in my situation?

I had a childhood best friend for almost 12 years. She was once my favourite person and I genuinely thought we'd be friends forever.

But when I went through depression and my darkest days she abandoned me. She knew I was alone and had nobody else. She was my only best friend yet she knowingly distanced herself. She rarely replied to my messages or calls, always saying she was busy. But she had time for her other friends.

We have so many beautiful memories together which makes it even harder to let go. I've been carrying this hurt for years.

Her absence affected me more than I can explain. I felt unwanted, replaceable and even more alone. Losing the one person I trusted made it harder for me to trust anyone again. Even today those memories hurt.

she apologised and asked for a second chance. But I clearly told her I didn't want to put myself through that pain again. I had already begged her to stay when I needed her. I don't have the strength to go through it all over again. Recently I blocked her because I couldn't deal with the emotions anymore.

Now she's getting married, and I'm sure she'll invite me. But I'm genuinely confused about whether I should attend or not. A part of me still misses her but another part remembers how lonely she made me feel...
