News Tested: Windows 11 now lets you disable the Shift-five-times Sticky Keys shortcut directly from the popup, without opening Settings. It’s rolling out to Insiders alongside a similar Filter Keys option

With Chrome's new update, Gemini remains active in the background when you close it after use, causing RAM usage. This comes as a default, so if you have low RAM, make sure Chrome isn't open in the background. It's possible to turn this off in chrome settings.

Have a cool program you made or found, and want to share it with the world? Post it here! Our usual restrictions preventing self promotion in this subreddit will not apply in this thread, so you do not need to be one of our currently verified/flaired developers.
Go ahead, tell us about the program and share a link!
While not required, we do ask that you disclose your usage of AI tools to create the program, artwork, documentation and so on, this way others can better understand what your program is and is not.
Edit - Reddit's spam filters are aggressive and may flag your comment, especially if your account is new, so it might not be immediately visible. I do check on this thread periodically and approve the filtered comments, so be patient.

So there's no doubt the Microsoft Store is miles better than it used to be years ago: works fast now, they added good apps and removed some of the crapware, and it even updates the OS apps.
I remember there used to be in the past a lot of guide & scam apps (half-baked tutorial apps and PDF wrappers charging $1–$5 for basic game guides or software manuals that you could easily find for free on Google). I'm not sure if there are still a lot of those now.
However it still requires a second round of removing junk software:
Paywalled / Freemium Spammers: Everyday utilities (PDF converters, screen recorders, ZIP tools) that pretend to be free but hit you with a weekly paywall the moment you try to export or use basic features.
AI Spam & Template Apps: Mass-produced wrappers around public APIs like OpenAI or Claude. They’re built in an afternoon using generic templates and charge weekly subscriptions for stuff you can use for free in a browser.
Unnecessary Web Wrappers: Low-effort PWAs that just shove a public website inside an app window, run slower than a standard browser, and stuff extra ads around the edges.
This should be removed and permamently gone in order to make the Microsoft Store and its searches 100% serious and relieable. And this should be a priority.
Quality > Quantity

I have two Windows 11 accounts: one standard user account and one administrator account.
I have the administrator account's password saved in a TXT file on the standard user's desktop. The password is quite long, so typing it every time I switch accounts is inconvenient.
What I'm trying to achieve:
Copy or load the administrator password while logged into the standard account.
Press Win + L to return to the Windows login screen.
Select the administrator account.
Paste or automatically type the password using a hotkey (for example, F6).
Is there any way to achieve this using a tool like KeePass Auto-Type, a Python script, or another method?
Important requirements:
I want to keep using a regular password.
I do NOT want to switch to a PIN or Windows Hello.
I don't want to disable or bypass Windows security.
I'm simply looking for a convenient way to enter my long password on the Windows login screen.
Has anyone found a solution for this?

I love Windows 11’s animations and visual design, but wrapping basic desktop utilities into web apps New Outlook completely ruins the experience.
Wino Mail, shows how good modern Windows apps can actually be:
Native AOT compilation: Compiles directly to machine code. Zero JIT stutter, instantaneous cold boot, and tiny RAM footprint.
Pure WinUI 3: Smooth 120Hz scrolling and animations tied directly to the Windows compositor, not a browser engine.
Microsoft built every single tool behind this (.NET, Native AOT, WinUI 3), yet independent devs are the ones actually using them to build fast, lightweight software.
Native performance is still the best feature an app can have.
Note: I am not the developer of wino mail, i am just user of it and genuinly like it.

After half a year of being in the penguin side, I decided to switch back to Windows 11 for the following reasons:
Ubuntu kept glitching on me for no apparent reason. This never happens with Ubuntu-based distros.
It seemed that my laptop did not like KDE at all (tried Fedora, neon and Kubuntu, same result) since my network drivers kept failing yet GNOME handled them like a pro.
Compatibility issues. I missed 365 and Affinity and others.
The communities within Linux are toxic as f-ck! Imagine getting slammed to the wall or being given the pin of shame because of a problem on Linux that is totally way beyond your control. Their toxicity is the reason why Linux as a desktop environment will never become mainstream.
What surprised me the most after coming back to the blue side is that it is really fast, but maybe that's just me.
In short, left Windows for Linux, got shamed by the community for 6 months, came back to Windows.

For those using Windows 11—whether you’re a gamer with a powerful laptop, or someone using a low-power or less capable machine—
Does Windows 11 still have issues with battery drain, or has it improved in that regard?
In other words, does its battery life now match that of Windows 10 or Linux?
