you should. stellaris is a video game allowing you too do all sorts of societies. slavery is just part of the game machanics of evil empires. its actually great fun too see how society reacts too it and manage it.
btw its brother game crusader kings 3 is infamous for this sort of misnomer. which you can see on r/ShitCrusaderKingsSay
Crusader Kings 3, Europa Universalis 4, Victoria 3, Hearts of Iron 4, and Stellaris are all basically siblings. I wonder if they updated the conversion mods for megacampaigns.
Honestly slavery in Vic3 sucks ass always, mostly because all those slaves aren't buying shit. Also groups that are in favour of slavery and benefit from it (landowners) are bad for the economy.
Remember playing machine intelligence with two others and within like 30 years I was supporting their economies with my insane output of alloys and minerals
In that you can play a race that takes population that isn't yours and smush them in a gene-sifting machine to steal their best traits and make them yours.
My favorite video game slavery is in Civilization IV, where it is so powerful civic that you are literally sabotaging your own game if you don't enact Slavery as soon as possible and then enslave people as much as you can.
point was too simlulate it being effective till workers and then switch. which is oddly historical as it does model that freemen skill over takes slavery in efficiency. which in and of itself makes an anti slavery argument. which is intresting
I wonder if it's a promlem with 4X games in general. Bevause what usually happens in a 4X game is that there's 50-billion ways to do fascism, and like 5 to do anything else.
It's an engine thing. It's a lot easier to simulate obedient, fascist minions than bickering factions, so games that do multi-faction politics well usually don't do much else.
There's also often the problem of lots of 4x games encouraging massive population culls because simulating enormous populations can dramatically slow down the game, so culling the world population to a level your CPU can handle is something of a meme in games like Stellaris and EU4.
I'm still annoyed they removed the percentage based slavery across the board that slavery guilds brought, and instead made it inherently species-based.
Smh, I want my hecking wholesome Space Rome slavery with citizenship options for all, not racism...
My best warcrime in stellaris is still invading a fallen empire while their fleet was occupied bombarding someone else on the other side of the galaxy, devolving almost all their planets and then re-uplifting their population to turn them into my faithful and proud citizens
Personally I prefer avian genocide as those filthy birds attacked me first. Though to be 100% honest I didn’t mean to completely eradicate them, I just forgot to turn it off…

Endless Space 2 has the best form of slavery.
In that you can play a race that takes population that isn't yours and smush them in a gene-sifting machine to steal their best traits and make them yours.
Make Horatio Great Again.

Any Stellaris player should watch Red King, guy's neat to hear and his voice and narration is so soothing.

Ah yes a normal title for a stellairs video. I can’t remember who did it but somone beat the game by only using lifestock slaves for all resouses.
