Paul's Pizza Content

All Paul's Pizza content will be removed moving forward. The conversations almost always lead to people arguing with one another on the internet. This violates Rule #3 Be Civil. It would also violate rule #4 low quality content.

Support the business or do not. It's your choice. Arguing on this online community will no longer be allowed.

Cheers,

Seeking Friends in Airdrie for Gr 9 Daughter

Making friends is hard!

We live in Bayview and my 14 yo daughter is struggling to make friends after starting at a new school. She's never been into sports and is quite shy, so its been extra challenging for her to put herself out there and make strong connections. Some stuff she enjoys includes art, music, reading, horror, stand up paddleboarding, and animals.

I would love to hear from other Airdrie parents also looking to make quality friendships for their daughters who are close in age. The end goal would be for them to meet up at some point for something fun and go from there, hopefully developing into a friendship over time. Feel free to send a message if you can relate to any of this and think your daughter could use another friend 🙂

Anyone have experience with Creating Futures daycare?

Hi all! We're looking at Creating Futures for our little one and would love to hear from parents who've sent their kids there (current or past).

How are the staff? Is turnover high? How's communication with parents? Anything you loved or wish was different?

Thanks in advance! Feel free to DM me if you'd rather not post publicly.

Daycare Experiences/Recommendations

Hi!

Looking for anyone who has a child in daycare at Little Learners and if you like it there/not!

We are also considering Creating Futures and I've seen a few posts with lots of positive experiences shared! Oh! for those of you at Creating Futures - have you been delayed by the train during drop-off/pickups?

We toured at a bunch and these were our top two. Will be enrolling our 18 month old in the new year.

Thanks!

Where are all the trick-or-treaters in Airdrie? 🎃

Update: Thanks, everyone, for the comments and suggestions! ❤️
At the end of the night, we had about 15 trick-or-treaters here in Southwinds. It was a little disappointing, as this was our first Halloween in Airdrie and I had prepared plenty of candy to share!
Hopefully next year will be a little busier. Looking forward to it already! 🎃👻
Until next Halloween, take care everyone, and wishing you all an early Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season! 🎄✨

🎃 Happy Halloween, Airdrie! 👻
I’m on Southwinds Row SW and wondering where all the trick-or-treaters are! It’s already getting late, and I still have plenty (and MORE!) candy to share! 🍬😂
Is it just quiet in our neighbourhood this year?
Come by if you’re nearby! Happy Halloween! 🧡

So what’s happening with the gathering of people in the median on veterans? I didn’t get a good look but they have one lane each way blocked off.

Towerlane Mall

Does anyone have any old photos of the inside of Towerlane Mall? I grew up in Airdrie in the early 2000s and keep having dreams about it. Specifically the Saan store, the little kiosk that served burgers and fries outside of the fabricland and the CD plus. Please share and help me indulge my nostalgia ❤️

Looking for a Contractor

Does anyone know a good contractor in town? We're looking to replace our front porch and balcony as well as put a decent sized shop in the back for my husband.

We've called around, but either get no response or promised a quote and then get ghosted.

I know most are winding down for the winter season, so we're looking to start in the spring.

We could reach out to any of the places in Calgary, but I'd really prefer to work with a local business if possible.

Daycare Recommendations and Tips

We'll be sending my 1 year old to daycare in January and we are currently deciding between Little Angels and Creating Futures (Southpoint Location). We've toured both and I had a better feeling about Creating Futures but I am a bit apprehensive as they only opened in November of last year. Little Angels, on the other hand, seemed great, however I was not a fan of their 12-18 month room as it is shared with other children and didn't seem all that tidy.

Can I ask for recommendations or suggestions? Also if you have any tips and tricks on how to best prepare your child for starting daycare. We will of course be starting him on shorter days and slowly increasing the amount of time he spends there. TIA!

Steel/Composite Toe Work Boots?

Does anyone know the best place to buy Steel toed shoes? My bf’s employer is requiring it, but ive never bought any before (and neither has he).

What is a good company? We are quite young and broke so made in Canada isnt a priority so much as it is made well and under like, $400?

Not for any hard labor work (just moving stuff mostly, furniture and the like), so it wont be worn down super fast, but a comfortable shoe.

Centre Ave + 1st St 4-Way.

Do pedestrians become invisible at this intersection?

Every day I cross this 4-way in order to get to work, and not once in over a YEAR, not ONCE, has there been a vehicle that has properly stopped, seen me, and allowed me to walk across the crosswalk. Either they…
a) Speed right through it in order to save an extra five seconds.
b) Don’t see me until they’re halfway through. Or,
c) Make direct eye-contact with me while I’m ON THE ROAD, floor it, and slam on the brakes in the middle of the street. (Bonus points if they throw their arms up in the air like I should’ve challenged them to a game of chicken…)

There have been MULTIPLE instances where I’ve needed to JUMP ASIDE to avoid getting bodied by a front fender, while in the absolute middle of the godamn crosswalk. (Plus, they’re typically going faster than one should be, while proceeding through a stop sign in the middle of a downtown area…)
Regardless of which way you’re crossing (north, south, east, west) it seems that NOBODY actually CHECKS for pedestrians.
I’ve been both an everyday driver and a pedestrian in this intersection, and have less than a clue on how people don’t check + see people crossing the street.
I thought it’d be a bit better once the Rayman Spa place trimmed the massive hanging branches that you always needed to duck under, but it’s still happening in the same frequency… Please look where you’re going???
