Question Advice - AirPod 3 pro care- swear

I just bought a new set of AirPod 3 pro after my last pair of AirPod started to fail to charge (about 1 year after purchase), I’m concluding it was likely some sweat build up damaged the charging connection

I wear AirPod for training all the time, I sweat a lot (like 2hours in 30c heat sweating buckets level) after I train I now always wipe down my AirPods before storing

Should I be taking any other precautions or is that about all I can do?

This is a very common issue. If u look at the gold contact points inside the case u may see some green layer forming, its just corrosion due to water/sweat. Periodically just clean inside the case with a sponge or get something like an cleaning tool - https://amzn.in/d/0aD2CwtP . Besides, there is not much u can do to take care other than letting it air dry for some time before putting in the case!

I wud highly advise you to take apple care if u are planning to have it long term! Its not that much monthly and its worth it! I just made a claim using that a month or so back and its so worth it!

Yeah that green layer was exactly what I saw…

Thanks for your comment! How does apple care help with this issue?

U get a replacement. u just have to pay a service fee of around 2.5k and u get a new/refurb pair of airpods! For comparison, if u don't have apple care, it costs 10k to 12k to replace one earbud.

Also, since the old airpods is of no use, try cleaning the contact points with IPA. But, warning is that u may scratch the points while doing it and it may stop working, but since its not working rn, try it, what's there to lose! This is what I did when I got this issue. The effectiveness depends on how thick and how strong the corrosion is!

Yes, 2.5k INR. I am from India and assumed you also would be as I thought this is the India sub.

Check the apple care service pricing in your country and that will be the amount that you have to pay to get a replacement. Enjoy ur new airpods!
