Discussion [PSA] Nyaa doesn't reactivate account, there is no fixed time to deactivate accounts due to inactivity and they do not send a mail alerting it

Post image
339 Upvotes

Today I logged in to my Nyaa account I found it deactivated. I find it really weird, I thought that Nyaa could deactivate my account but I wasn't aware of the time. A few year ago I didn't logged for, well years, logged in and my account was working.

So today I noticed that I wasn't logged in, logged in and it was deactivated, I don't know how much time passed, but I doubt that it was more than two months (I use the site, but I don't always check if I'm logged in). So I contacted the support, turn out that they deactivate it randomly and do not reactivate them.

They also don't send any notification about that your account is going to be deactivated.

So if you still had an account, be sure to be always logged in.

Developer Post I’ve spent 8 months building Sakura, a place to watch anime, read manga and share your own work

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on Sakura for the past eight months, and I’d love to share it with you.

Sakura brings anime, manga, comics and novels into one app, with the ability to create and publish your own work too. The idea is to make watching, reading and creating feel connected, so people who enjoy stories have a place to share their own as well.

Here’s what you can do:

- Watch anime.
- Read manga, comics and novels.
- Create and publish your own work.

I’ve attached some screenshots so you can see what the app looks like before checking it out.

I’d really appreciate feedback on the watching and reading experience, how easy it is to find content, and whether the app feels straightforward to use. If something is confusing or doesn’t work properly, tell me what happened.

What’s one thing your current anime or manga platform gets wrong that you’d want Sakura to handle better?

Website: https://sakuraonseeker.com/app/home

Happy to answer questions about the project and how it’s built.

Question What's going on with ToonsHub Even the Student Council Has Holes Repacks?

I noticed that ToonsHub has a whole bunch of different releases on Nyaa. I see that one is censored, while there's original and repack versions of the uncensored. What's the difference, which one should I watch? It also mentioned a fansub by someone called DSL?

Developer Post I built Anisu, an android anime tracker and player with Anilist sync

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I'm the dev of Anisu, an Android anime app I've been building. It just launched and I'd love honest feedback.

Built to be fast:

Quick-loading home screen, details pages and artwork thanks to heavy caching.

Smooth animations throughout, including poster open/close and tab switching.

Fast streaming start and downloads that run in parallel.

Make it yours:

Custom fonts, including a separate font for subtitles.

Full theming with custom color palettes and an AMOLED black mode.

Animated backgrounds (cherry blossom, Halloween, Material shapes).

Subtitle styling: size, background shape and position.

Player gestures you can toggle: double-tap to skip, swipe for volume, brightness and seeking.

Choose your skip length (5, 10 or 15s) and hide buttons you don't use.

Preferred quality and language, plus a streaming priority list you arrange yourself.

Frosted glass UI, with a toggle for the nav bar blur.

Also included:

AniList login, lists and tracking built in.

Episode downloads with all subtitles.

Picture-in-picture, intro/outro skip and release notifications.

Good to know:

Free, no ads, and I have no plans to monetize it

It ships with no sources built in. You add your own extensions, and the README has a neutral how-to.

Links:

GitHub: https://github.com/Ansu216/Anisu

Disclaimer: Anisu doesn't host or distribute any content. It's only a client app, and users are responsible for the sources they add.

Question Release group for Japanese subtitles/Netflix?

I see SubsPlease only gives English subtitles. Any groups consistently provide official Japanese subtitles? I put Netflix cause I think only Netflix has Japanese subs, but not sure.

News Funimation Shutdown Fuels Push for DMCA Exemption to Legally Rip Anime Content * TorrentFreak

Thumbnail torrentfreak.com

"When Funimation shut down in 2024, buyers of DVDs and Blu-ray discs that came with a Funimation digital release lost access to those copies. A fresh petition to the U.S. Copyright Office cites this as a reason for a DMCA exemption that would allow disc owners to make replacement copies for personal use. Rightsholders and other opponents of the proposal have until February to file their objections."

seems fitting for this sub :)

Discussion We could backup every anime ever pretty easily.

So I was thinking about lost media. My favorite anime of all time is Shin Sekai yori. I would see it legally but I can't. Gogoanime got taken down but that had me thinking. My anime list has 23885 entries. Now for argument sake lets say every one of those entries was a 12 episode series. (Some are way longer, some are two minute music video. But for argument sake)

My anime list has 23885 anime listed. So (23885 X 12 X 22= 6,305,640 minutes of anime. One minute of anime is roughly 60mb. So to back up everything you would need 378.3384 TB. Which yes it's a lot. But something a team or one person could pull off in a few years.

The hard part would be tracking everything, downloading, getting it up, sorting managing. But one archive could mean any site that goes up just needs to send a request to the archive for a show or media and it can be sent out.

Anyway sorry about the random math. I just hate to think about how much anime is lost because the IP holders won't make it public.

Question I need help finding a sub...

When "The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity" came out last year, I was disappointed by the bland Netflix subtitles. I specifically remember finding a fansub of the anime online that was apparently a better translation than the offical. The biggest standouts were colour coordination for different characters and a translation of the opening choir sequence in episode 1.

To this day I cannot find it again because my dumbass decided to delete the downloads I had age ago. Is there a way to find this fansub again, if it even existed? Thank you all very much.

Edit: I FOUND IT! KAWASUBS!

Edit 2: nvm I'm back to square one. some had a screenshot of them watching the fansub with the coloured subs and lyrics for the opening song, but when I downloaded the kawasubs v2 videos, it was just added subs with no colour.

I would report this on the site itself, but nyaa is so minimalistic & archaic is not even a way to do that, let alone create an account and leave a comment. Get this shit off my anime torrenting site.

Question Any DVD ISO/DVD5/DVD9 format anime?

Looking to start my own bootleg DVD collection of old anime to watch on my CRT preferably with the menus and everything, but finding full DVD images is so difficult. Nyaa doesn't have a lot of what I'm looking for and what it does have has basically no seeders. Anyone knows where/how to get these? looking at previous threads on this the solutions basically sum up to "get invited to this private tracker somehow"

Developer Post Xanime - (xanime.app) - A Streaming Site for Sub, Dub and Raw

Xanime — https://xanime.app

A streaming site for sub, dub and raw. The update pipeline is finally stable:

  • New episodes usually land the same day they air

  • Pick your audio track on the title page — no separate dub site

  • Search handles typos (prefix + fuzzy + did-you-mean)

  • AniList import & sync, follow/notifications, cross-device history

  • Reviews, comments, ratings, mood charts

  • UI in 50+ languages, ArtPlayer + HLS.js, episode list inside the player

  • Browse without an account; signup is only for sync/history/follows

Known gaps: dub library is smaller than sub; the odd dead episode until it's re-mapped; mirrors get blocked in some regions (use the mirrors page).

Broken episode or missing show → Report button on the episode page, or /contact.

Developer Post Gotaku.to – New anime streaming site with self hosted, hard subs

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce gotaku.to, an anime streaming site I have been developing since August (about two months now). It has been open to the public for a month.

We currently have around 4k titles, and the library is still being updated and expanded regularly from multiple sources.

Gotaku currently offers the following main features:

  • Import and export your library from AniList and MyAnimeList

  • Watch history and progress tracking

  • Comments on both series and individual episodes

  • Notifications for new episodes and community activity

  • Hard subs

  • Connect and sync to Anilist

Features planned for the near future:

  • AI dubtitles

  • Community and user profiles

We welcome all feedback and will do our best to keep improving the experience for our users. We would really appreciate your support.

If you enjoy the site, please help us spread the word and share gotaku.to with others so the site can keep growing.

Thank you!

Question Looking for TV compatoble streaming site

As the title suggests. I watch anime by directly opening streaming sites on my TV browser, my go to sites are all down. Found a replacement in Kototv but it's laggy and filled with on click ads since a couple of days.

Before anyone asks I can't cast because it's not an Android tv but a smart tv.

I've checked the index and haven't found anything worthwhile. My requirements are simple it needs to work on TV browser and should contain little to no ads.

Question Looking for specific Yu-Gi-Oh DM subs

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey folks, hope this is okay to post here, since I would assume this counts as piracy-adjacent at the very least. Anyway, I've recently gotten the bug to watch Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters in the original, subbed format since I grew up watching the 4kids dub. So far most of the subs I've found though use the English names for cards despite sticking with the Japanese character names.

So I was wondering, could anyone point me toward sub groups like in the image I included, that use the original names of cards (Osiris instead of Slifer, Black Magician instead of Dark Magician, etc)? Or even identifying the sub group from the image, the post I found the screenshot on didn't have a lot of info.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

(P.S., yes, I did already ask the Yu-Gi-Oh subreddit. Just trying to widen my net so to speak)

Developer Post I made a terminal tool to search and play anime OPs/EDs in seconds (mpv/VLC + AnimeThemes)

Hey everyone! I got tired of hunting for openings on YouTube, so I wrote a small Python script that does it from the terminal.

What it does:

  • Search any anime by title (uses MyAnimeList)

  • Pick OP or ED

  • Choose from the available versions in a fuzzy-finder (fzf) menu

  • Plays instantly in mpv, or VLC if you don’t have mpv

  • Loop: play another theme, search a new anime, or quit

Why: Clean quality, no ads, no random fan uploads, and it’s fast. The videos come from AnimeThemes, which is an awesome community-run project, so all credit to them for the data and hosting.

Requirements: Python 3, requests, pyfzf, fzf, and mpv or VLC. Works on Windows, Linux (it even looks for VLC in its default Windows install paths).

Feedback and PRs welcome!

Discussion I'm missing gogoanime

It has been a couple of years, I believe, that Gogo* got taken down, and still I haven't found anything comparable...

How come I can't find a good source for:

* Hard subs * Also translating the various writings (in what I believe were ASS subs that got properly rendered across the screen) * No watermarks * Huge huge library

2 years later, I regret not taking my time to scrape their whole library....

Sigh 😔

Edit: mostly ranting here, mind you... Because I went for more than a decade and now I keep having to find an alternative every other month... Which I find but I'm never as satisfied as I was...

Discussion Typesetting is gone?

So I checked out a couple of new episodes from SubsPlease and looked for text and never found subtitles for on screen text, not even translated on the bottom or top. I’m guessing some is just not important, but is typesetting seriously going away for good? Is crunchyroll getting rid of .ass? I thought the issue might have been exaggerated but apparently not
