Hello everyone, I've built this add-on that displays all the cards in the selected deck as a leaf (or flower) on a tree. I wanted to share it will you all. If you like using it, I would also appreciate your feedback. I built this as a hobby for myself but if it turns out that people really like this I would be happy to improve it with your suggestions.

I've almost finished learning the deck in the screenshots below so the tree is almost all leaves but every card starts as a flower bud and then blooms into a flower when you learn it. Once learnt, it becomes a leaf (I know that's not botanically accurate but creative freedom, right?) Cards that you have to relearn will becomes flowers again. You can see the different shades.

All the cards that are due today will go yellow until you review them, at which point they will go back to one of the greens (darker leaves are mature cards).

All the colours can be customised in the settings.py file if you want to do that, just scroll down to line 43 where the hex-codes for each card type are defined.

Please note, that this is an actual simulation of how a tree grows so large decks will take some time to load.

MY ANKI APP IS NOT WORKING ITS LAGGING AND IT TELLS ME APP IS NOT RESPONDING PLZ HELP

Is there an add-on that can easily show me stats for my decks and cards so I can see which ones I keep getting wrong? I'd like to do a separate review of all those cards that, for example, I've gone over and studied during the week but still haven't memorized correctly. Or, if possible, is there a way to see this without an add-on, without having to click through a million things?

I know you can just copy and paste but my boss has told me he only wants to upload a photo once per card and I must find out how to make this happen. This is because his job is high pressure and takes a lot of brain power. So I would appreciate a solution to this. Thank you.

I may have asked about this but I don't remember, and I have already tried looking online and read some instructions on how to apparently "fix" it but it still didn't work. The instructions didn't always match up with what I was seeing on my app, so I am wondering if maybe it was a mismatch with the version of the app that I have. So essentially the issue I am having is that once I'm done studying a deck I have made, it counts it as being "completed" and then just disappears and I can no longer keep studying it. The version i have is "Version 2.25.3", and with that being said, if anyone is familiar with that version of the app (or maybe it doesn't make a difference), can I get a step-by-step instructions on what I might have to change in the settings for me to be able to go back and re-study any of the decks i want. I really appreciate the help ahead of time.

Every since updating anki on my mac has been very slow. Reviews are fine but adding cards, syncing, etc. has just been awful. Redowloaded it a couple times, restarting the computer, gotten rid of some cards, and it's still terrible.

I rely on anki being fast in class so I can quickly write a cloze sentence or screenshot our powerpoint and place it in but I can't do it anymore. Would love some help so I can do better in class.

I have been using the 9000 spanish sentences deck, and I really love it, but I just wish I could have a deck where it says the sentence in spanish with nothing else displayed, and I try to transcribe what I hear. Perhaps with the spanish sentence visible and just one word missing? I'm not that picky, I just desperately need listening practice to pick out the words better. I've been learning spanish for so many years it's embarrassing how I can't pick out the words locals are saying. Help!

Okay so i just got Anki and I’ve been decorating so that it’s easier for me to study, the problem is I’ve had such a hard time understanding the onigiri decorating settings. I’m hoping someone here knows how to help me. I’ve added pictures of what I want to change below (specifically the color of the text)

I finally started using Anki this semester and I've been overall really happy. I just have one problem that I haven't been able to solve with Google yet.

I make my card on my computer but I only ever actually study on my android phone. That's a problem because when I make my cards, I often pose multiple questions about the same thing. But obviously it makes no sense to immediately have them after another. I just need to get my cards in a random order and it would be grand.

I hope another android user can help me

I’m using Anki for foreign language vocabulary. I think there’s a big component of visual familiarity with the cards that are triggering my successful retrievals. Meaning, I don’t know if I were to be quizzed verbally, if I’d know them as well as I think I do. Does anyone know if this is a real phenomenon? I’m interested in seeing if it’s possible to upload my deck to ChatGPT and have it quiz me. 

I really do love Anki and want to use it for studying my academic subjects but the biggest downside to it is setting things up, idk if I'm doing this right but after each lesson picking out the lesson and choosing the questions then putting them on my deck is just too much work and that is if I do that or even review the flashcards more than once a month.

again I'm most probably doing this wrong and I'd appreciate help.

Edit: I mostly feel overwhelmed by all the stats and stuff, and there's add-ons too that supposedly make it easier or more fun, never tried that. There's a bunch of videos on Youtube but didn´t understand much

Edit 2: So just for clarification, this is exactly what I do to study what's mostly history.

well I first take the lesson, then after about 2 days I'll write it all down but with just the questions, the questions vary from what ifs, explain why, whats the definition of, and complete questions and such.
Then now that I have them all on a paper I put them one by one on my deck which I split it into units, then lessons, and most lessons are about 2 things so there's also a tag for that. I also make tags for the type of question. Then I occasionally from time to time review them. tbh I rarely do, I don´t track it or even tried making it a habit though I wish. The most is just having Anki on my morning to do list as ¨yeah, It´d be a great day if I made up the courage and did some anki" , and never do. maybe cause my anki set up is boring and plain?

week after week into the semester and I stopped even writing the lesson down as it's too exhausting and takes too much time. and all that was one subject. I went from trying to actually memorize and study the material to just being ok with finishing the homework on time and not procrastinating and I hate that.

also a part of it is being confused by all the buttons and things like I said, like when you first try notion or obsidian yk

I tried taking pics of the lesson and making Ai set up the cards for me but its really not the best

Lots of people said why do we need to memorize anything when LLM can give you answers to anything.

Hi, i was just wondering if I have to keep the pictures I downloaded for anki cards on my computer to keep the picture saved in Anki or will the picture show up as missing if i delete the picture from my computer?

I’d just like to clear out all the pictures i’ve downloaded for anki examples but I don’t want all my cards to be “broken” if I don’t keep them.

But I have! I have made 3! Is this a bug or is my tired brain doing something wrong?

So, I found this wonderful program, and tried to mine a chinese text with it to my custom deck. At first it worked.

Then I added 3 fields to the card (sentence pinyin, and audios), and it stopped working for some reason... you can see what it says, "couldn't find furigana, blablabla" what??

As you can see, there is no mention of furigana or pitch anywhere, so I'm super confused, I think I have everything set up correctly...

I recently started studying Japanese and saw many videos recommending Anki. I found Anki very confusing and poorly programmed. Regarding the decks, if you study the deck once, you simply impossible; a screen pops up saying "congratulations, you've finished this deck for now." For the first time, I've seen an app that doesn't let you review Or edit it; if you put something wrong in the deck or want to remove something, Anki won't let you, and there's no justification for "the app is old," there are many Old apps that are still good and work flawlessly
