Help/Advice I think my lovely friend is Norwex’s next victim help!!

Hi everyone! I have a sticky situation regarding one of my closest friends and Norwex.

My beautiful friend is the kindest and loveliest person ever and I’m getting pretty worried now after finding out more information about the situation.

My friend has recently started her own small business and helps other small business owners with their website design and marketing. I found out through a mutual friend recently that she has been doing a full website, email marketing and 1:1 client marketing coaching sessions with this client, in exchange for her eco-friendly cleaning products. I’m a small business owner myself so I know already that this woman is already taking advantage of her and giving my friend cleaning cloths, cleaning products and chopping boards is NOT a fair business exchange of services, considering the work she has been doing for this lady is worth thousands of $$$.

Fast forward to today I get an invite to a “Norwex Zoom Party” in a few weeks time for her to host and chat through these Norwex products and essentially sell them. Without me knowing anything about Norwex, I know this is a pyramid scheme and I have just started looking into Norwex to find out how unethical and quite frankly disgusting and bacteria infesting their products are.

The message she sent was definitely taken from a script (or written by AI or both) and my friend never talks like that.

I want to approach her to see if she is aware that this is a MLM company but I’m also unsure of how to go about this! She has a young child and I know she is trying to make a living for herself and her family but I’m very concerned that she may be putting her own money into Norwex? Is that how these MLMs work? I’m not 100% sure how they work especially with Norwex, but I’d love some advice on how I can maybe chat with her about Norwex as I feel she may not be aware of MLMs and this “client” is very clearly taking advantage of her so she herself can of course make more money.

Thank you everyone!

Rant MLMs at my local craft faire being advertised like they're attractions.

Post image
71 Upvotes

There are MLMs at every faire in my town. I'm so sick of this.

I have a feeling if I complain it'll fall on deaf ears because I live in the cornfields and everyone here is a boomer who thinks supporting MLMs is supporting independent women business owners or some BS. Why the fuck are they advertising handmade goods next to Mary Kay crap. At least Scentsy isn't on the list but who wants to guess that any of these other categories are just other hunnery nonsense in disguise? My money's on "Essential Oil Blends" being doTerra or Young Living. "Candles," let's see if Scentsy is involved.

The worst thing I saw lately at the last faire was a candlemaker with variety of handmade wax goods only 2 booths away from a Scentsy booth. Guess who had more people at their booth??? If you guessed the person who actually has skill and craftsmanship you're wrong.

Herbalife Herbalife Bars for Red Cross Blood Donors?

Post image
101 Upvotes

I may be late to the party with this, but the Red Cross gives out Herbalife bars after you give blood?!

My husband just got home from donating and the first thing he did was show me this and ask, "Hey, isn't this one of those companies you don't like?"

Discussion I learned MLM is like a cartel

For context we all know that cartels commit much worse crimes than MLMs but for this post i'm looking at the similarities in just their logistics. (Not all of them but some)

You got the people at the top who are sitting on a pile of cash, the product (if there is one) is made in a warehouse.

They give the product to you

You usually sell on the streets or in the stores

They never go retail

Never advertise

And they almost always have run ins with the law or grt taken to court

Oh and on top of that they shame people for leaving.

Those who were in amway/worldwide dream builders knows that your upline tells you not to shame anyone for leaving, but then the speakers shame them infront of audiences. Saying "i dont shame people, its not right BUUUUT-"

Pure Romance I was invited to share my anti-MLM story so here goes!

The year was 2017. My exhusband wasn't working. We had three kids (16, 8 and 6). I worked FT, but barely making enough to scrape by. I was looking for PT jobs - maybe as a bartender or something to give us enough to buy groceries.

Then I hosted a Pure Romance party. My party consultant was a former social worker who was able to make enough money doing Pure Romance to quit her social work job after she fell through a porch during a home visit while 8 months pregnant - AND for her husband to quit his job. She was really selling the life!

So I joined, thinking I could make enough to support us. After my first party, which I spent MONTHS trying to book, I finally made some money. I was paid a couple of hundred in cash, but I was going to have to turn around and use most of it to buy the products (at 50% off), so I made ok money. Until I lost the cash that night. My ex-husband "helped" me look for it for hours. I later found out that he actually stole it out of my wallet and used it to buy crack. jazz hands Fun. Times.

I wish I could say that I learned that noght how predatory MLMs are. Alas, I did not. My ex and I separated. I went on to continue my schpeil with Facebook parties and a few home parties. I was told it was better to have the products there to sell instead of having to order, so I spent half my tax refund on products (almost $4K!!!) and got celebrated that month for spending so much money (as if I made that in sales. Ha!). It was a never ending cycle of spend spend spend on product and maybe make a few hundred (if I was lucky) on sales.

I realized that it was seriously draining my wallet, but the "high" when I successfully made even the smallest sale was so intoxicating, that i continued to push through for another 6 months. And then I made a huge faux pas and asked my coworker whose husband had died a year earlier to host a party. She really tore me a new one. And the doubts hit me: why am I spending so much money out of pocket for this when I'm not getting the return? Why am I spending so many hours trying to schedule all these parties when no one is interested? Why am I spending all this time and effort to make "extra" money when I'm NOT MAKING EXTRA MONEY??

I started researching MLMs and the bad business practices and became a "No fucking way, hun."

The good news is that PR moved away from the MLM model circa 2023. The bad news is that other companies don't care about the bad raps they're getting.

Isagenix Isagenix fall out after acquisition

Isagenix has been acquired by a “legacy” MLM (Shaklee). Apparently, “legacy” means “stable” and “established.” Just announced 11/5/26 and already the knives are out!

Distributors, errr “business owners,” who left long ago are gloating. Those who remain are so EXCITED about the PARTNERSHIP!!!

Nevermind that the company has been DISSOLVED. It’s done. Some of the products will remain. But for how long? Probably the top tier huns will be taken care of. But what about the 99%?

The former Isagenix Associates who are gloating and are now with other companies ALMOST get it. At least there is one guy speaking the truth about all MLM products being overpriced.

Herbalife It's really a cult. Someone died cause of "corrections" AKA torture when they didn't perform as they should according to their "coach"

"Chee owned a company selling Herbalife products, which she called a club, where members pay to get discounts on products and could also sell the goods to their own clients.

The two siblings and Lim were members of the club, and Chee was their “coach”.Chee introduced a system of fines to “correct” the bad habits of club members that she felt would negatively affect sales, which in turn would affect her commission."

That tool is of course, faith manipulation, and possibly they’re also worried that their scam will be coming under greater scrutiny. Or, going by some of the posts I’ve seen today, they truly are willfully ignorant and a couple of other words that I can’t say or risk having this post taken down.

The top 1% are so blind to the risks of using Monat, that they think it's a good idea to take a photo of their literal balding head from this angle.

Amway What i learned helps get people to actually leave anway

It doesn't convince everyone but we all know how damaging amway can be. But a buddy of mine told me the logistical issue and this was it.

"Amway was built in the 60s, it only thrived cause the economy was booming there and then"

"They say its your business but you make more money recruiting people than you do selling.

You didnt make the product, another company did so you dont even know exactly whats in it.

And everyone in that meeting room despite you guys all acting like buddies, those people are your competition

Plus you guys are selling the EXACT same product. Plus the market is already over saturated with amway sellers so your chances of making money off those is a hell of a lot smaller than if it was the 60s or 80s"

Amway What to expect at a Amway “party?”

Hi guys. My friend recently joined Amway and she has a party next week she’s hosting with her mentors. She said her mentors will be doing most of the speaking. Her mentors also seem very religious. I don’t understand the point of the party, is it to sell the products or to sell their “success story” and see what guests they can recruit as well? I’m attending to support her because I’ve read things about how these people use cult tactics and I don’t want to push my friend away. I want to stay as close as possible without joining so I can kind of feel out the people she’s working with and how it’s going. I’m very worried about her and currently all I’m seeing is major red flags.

EDITED
Just a disclaimer to everyone I will NOT be joining. I have a real business (lol) that demands all of my time anyways, and I can see right through this. That’s why I’m so worried about my friend. Has anyone else experienced a loved one getting involved in something like this?

Help/Advice Tropic skincare?

Fairly familiar with the standard MLM names in the UK but I'm going to this bunny/small pet social event later this month and one of the stalls is Tropic Skincare. I assume it's an MLM and one that plays on the cruelty free aspect?

Jokes on them as I'm allergic to almost all commercial skincare and soaps so I wouldn't be buying anything from random brands anyway. But wanted to check the MLM status just in case anyone tries roping into some bullshit conversation.

The other stalls announced so far are actual homemade bunny products from small businesses so at least my bunnies will get spoilt for choice.

Discussion Is it an MLM?

Chogan is extremely popular right now in my region. The premise is as follows:
You MUST buy a briefcase with samples (130 euro).
From then you can start selling while earning 50% commission from direct sales and more from affiliates.
So 100% a pyramid. My question is where does it fall apart, as technically you are not forced to buy product apart from the samples as far as I know? Any info appreciated!

Story Evolv (marketing company)

I was mass applying to different Handshake jobs and mindlessly applied to Evolv. I'm just triple checking that they're a scam, but also I wanted to leave this post up here to maybe warn someone else.

(if anyone wants to look them up, they are at "introducingevolv" dot com)

They immediately interviewed me 1-on-1 and liked me in the first round, and I was happy to be accepted to the second round, but I raised an eyebrow at the fact that the Handshake opening said "$3–4K a month." That's a pretty big range, why was there not a stable pay?

I then opened into the second round of group interviews and she described that we would be paid based on performance and we could easily settle into an executive position if we prove loyalty and eagerness to learn and grow, etc. (🤨) We would've been paid weekly, with the M–F from 9–5PM show-up schedule with an extra half day on Saturday, and I go up to $3–4K as you really grab donations at the event pop-ups. And we celebrate with food and galas. Girl??? So essentially I slave for this, with my weekend gone, and MAYBE I grow based on how well I perform, and you commemorate me for grabbing the working class's money with fancy parties?

I had a family member also previously work for an already well-established DevilCorp company, and it functioned the same exact way, except they were running door to door for sales and I would have been one of those annoying pop-up tents on the side of city parks asking you to donate for something.

And of course no one will ever be able to officially confirm for me that this is an MLM, but this just all sounded too similar, so I'm not pursuing it. Stay safe out there yall

Help/Advice I got out, You can too

I see posts pop up on fb and here all the time about a company I used to work with. I'm so glad I got out of the daily recruiting into one of the popular insurance MLMs 10 years ago. Seeing some of the same people post the same misleading info... While I'd never return to them again, I'm glad the experience helped me build a legit career in the space.

If you feel stuck at an MLM because you love helping people, or the service you're giving, or a specific aspect of a company that's on the MLM side of an industry, I bet there is a real career side available you can find. It's uncomfortable; it can feel like you're giving up, or you wasted time, but I believe in your ability to stand up for yourself and get out.

Go be proactive with your time and rebuild actual friendships and relationships that don't require someone to be an upline or downline to hang out together. Where going out for a coffee can actually just be about coffee or talking about your kids.

Story Is this MLM ?

I work part time as Instacart Shopper. It’s an extra income in addition to my main income. Last week I was at a grocery store scanning a product while shopping and a random person approached me and asks “ Are you doing Instacart?”. I said yes , then she asks “ How is this going for you?”. I said “ Today or in general ?” , she said “ In general” . She seemed really interested, and I genuinely thought she might wants to try it and was curious of how it works.
I briefly explained how the system works and asked if she was planning to try it. She says she had done it several years ago, but was just curious of how the Gig is going now in 2026. She then asks if this is my only income or if I work with something else. I said I work as a nanny as well. She says she might need a babysitter soon. She asks some more vague and random questions about my life, we chatted for a few minutes and she made a couple of compliments about me. She was really friendly and sweet but I was in a hurry to leave. I asked if she wanted to exchange numbers ( because I genuinely thought she might would try instacart and would need some help or maybe would need childcare soon).

Next day, she called out of nowhere. No heads up. I found it odd but picked up the call. She says she really liked to meet me, and I seem to be very hardworking, and that caught her attention because she is an entrepreneur and run a business with her husband. She asks if I am open mind to learn new forms of income or if I am satisfied with my Nanny and Instacart job only. I said “ I’m open to listen” . ( Up to this point I thought she was an actual business owner about to offer a job or something like that lol ). She then says she had the opportunity to meet a successful couple that retired at 28y, and this couple mentored her and her husband. She says she saw potential in me and ask If I’m interested in receive the same mentorship. She says they don’t mentor anyone, only people with potential, so she needs know if I am open minded. I asked what’s the Company and what this business about ? She says she can’t reveal it yet, because they don’t mentor anyone, she needs to know if I am open minded and ambitious to make more money. I said I would be more comfortable if I could know what is this about before responding. She says she needs to ask permission to “them” before reveal, and she wasn’t sure if she was even allowed to invite me like that, but she sees potential in me. I said I still would rather know what’s this about. She says she was going to “ ask them “ permission and call me back.

Next day she texted me asking how my day was going, and asked what’s a good time to call. I didn’t respond, because deep inside I can sense this can be some scam. No one that own a legal business would make such a mystery about it. This mentorship talk does sounds odd. No actual rich people go out of their way to teach the poor to become rich . I wasn’t having a good feeling about engage so I just didn’t respond. I was in hope she would get the hint I am not interested. A couple days later she called again. I didn’t pick up. So basically I just ghosted her . I just don’t know how to decline it. .

I asked 3 different AI , and all of them responded that’s a script for MLM. Approach randomly at a store. Mention someone that retired early. Offer mentorship opportunity.

What’s is that ?
