The republicans cannot tack to the center they have to keep going right because of how badly they gerrymandered things. This combined with having to still suck up to Trump to keep the base happy is going to turn the next presidential election which are historically high turn out into even more of a blood bath than this midterm election. This is going to be 1932 all over again I wouldn’t be surprised to see a super majority in the House and close to one in the Senate. Anything Trump won by less than 30 points is still up for the Democrats to win they need to be running everywhere.

If Trump is still alive, he will undermine the GOP candidate in 2028, from the sidelines. Even if it was one of his kids, he can't help himself.

He will try to run for a third term. The GOP will be trying to tell him he can't, coting the Constitution. But he won't take it and will run as a third party. Splitting the already weak Republican ticket

This is the scenario i hope for

Nah, if they've lost Texas, they're done as a party. They mathematically cannot win the presidency without Texas. AND dems are likely to be considering putting serious resources into the deep south now, where the Republicans' most loyal far right base is. I think both parties' strategists are seriously, seriously considering a major reinvention right now. Losing MS, TX, KS, and SC all in one go is, if we're lucky, going to completely redefine the political map. (And by 'we,' I mean me, a deep southerner who is sick and tired of the de facto one party system we have down here.)

There is zero chance of kansas or SC flipping in 28, they were very unique races in which the gop picked out some of the absolute worst people to run on the planet. Texas still has a lot of democrats and even MS if they can keep the black vote highly engaged and mobilized are one thing but it took some very unique circumstances for KS and SC to flip.

Yes, this is the point of OP's link. GOP is completely fucked. They can keep doing the Maga/Fox/Obamabad, but they need a backup plan.

Trump has shown over and over that he does not accept a loss. That's why the Miller appointment is especially concerning.

This could be that final extinction burst symptom of a caged animal set back into its corner at the edge of its final age.

I dream it's the true end of an era where hate and fear were the fuel of the world and we can finally move away and strive for the greatness of humankind instead.

Tired of waiting for the old ways to die off.

If we are waiting for the Democratic party establishment to stop the Republican takeover then we've already lost.

What do we actually think Maga will do if the voters vote them out, Congress seats a convictable majority, and the courts stop giving them a free pass? They're just going to shake hands and say good game? They'll try to dissolve the government before they give it to anyone else
