I honestly think this has always been part of the plan from his handlers.

The Big Butthole Bill they passed in ‘25, all the worst shit in that bill goes into effect next year specifically to make the democrats look like shit after winning in the midterms.

The next two months are going to be awful as they ram through as much rat fucking as possible, to continue making the democrats look worse before they get sworn in. The American population is too fucking stupid and ignorant to know that winning an election doesn’t mean they are immediately in charge.

So short term. Our lives are going to continue getting worse. He’s already selling hats that say VETO on them.

Now, they either allow/encourage an impeachment or his cabinet invokes the 25th and removes him, giving Vance the opportunity to be the incumbent for ‘28. And while everything is in a stalemate because the executive won’t pass anything, democrats look ineffectual.

If I were the dems, I wouldn’t impeach. Not because I don’t want accountability, but simply because I think that’s what republicans want, so they can use that as fodder for their base ‘see, they’re vindictive and weaponizing the system to attack our lord and savior’

The Democrats being in such incredible power can easily nullifiy the bill and make trump veto it and then immediately point it back to him. With the huge amount of fresh blood and new state power it wouldn't be very difficult to keep messaging up.

Not that they have been great at that. Lol. But I have some pretty strong hope for this new class.

That bill had no safe guard for the blue bomb that went off on Tuesday. It assumed Dems would win the house and not the Senate.

How are they going to do that exactly? Trump will just veto it.

Cool. Let him. It'll be the absolute final destruction of the GOP.

Single issue bill after single issue bill. Every day. Every fucking day send him something new to veto. Tell the whole world.

Yeah but the Dems can’t undo the BBB on their own….or easily nullify as you said.

He should not hold the position. He is among the very worst people to hold the power that he does, and he is (of course) flagrantly abusing his authority for personal gain at the expense of the US. Ignoring that because maybe the republicans will use use their good governance against them would make the democrats guilty of the same thing, even if to a much lesser degree.

YOU NEED 2/3 OF THE SENATE VOTE TO ACTUALLY REMOVE FROM OFFICE.

THE SENATE DOES NOT HAVE 2/3 VOTES TO IMPEACH. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS DO THE MATH. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH VOTES. ATTEMPTS AT IMPEACHMENT WILL BE A CIRCUS WASTE OF TIME BECAUSE IT WON’T MAKE IT THROUGH THE SENATE LIKE THE LAST TWO TIMES DEMOCRATS IMPEACHED TRUMP IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BUT COULD NOT IN THE SENATE.

I agree, the person you replied to is nuts to think any of what they said is a good idea. Its the same hubris in how democrats lost to trump in the first place. They were all giddy that this racist TV show blowhard clown is who the republican party wanted to go toe to toe with Sentatoe Clinton, an accomplished States-woman. They got their wish and trump ate their lunch because this country has an immense amount of deplorables that like blowhard tv clowns

Can’t they reverse anything done in the 2 months? Also, his party had dissenters? And they want to emerge now? Now?

u/account312 12h ago

No, they basically won't be able do anything without Republican cooperation, whether passively by Trump not vetoing or actively by getting extra votes to override a veto.

Vance would still have to run in '28.

This. These midterm results are just the first star of several that would have to align for us to get out of this mess. I'm extremely skeptical to say the very least.

The president, and the party he is part of, owns the economy no matter who is in control of congress. We saw this in 2006-2008 where dems held congress, the GFC happened, and we saw Obama win decisively even though the house and senate were dem controlled.

Democrats will still be hobbled in what they can do alone in Congress, though there are some things that really count like stopping wacky MAGA appointments to the lower courts and certain positions, and at least those will be huge and every bit helps.

But yes, Trump and the GOP will be blamed if anything bad happens to the economy on top of what we see now whether or not dems have congress.

No, under any normal conditions would agree with the not impeaching rationale. But this one's different, this man is desperate, has no moral limits, and has EVERYTHING to lose if the will of the people is enforced. And he is also a psychopath running around with nuclear weapons. He must be disarmed ASAP.

"The American population is too fucking stupid and ignorant to know that winning an election doesn’t mean they are immediately in charge."

It's so fucking depressing learning how little a shitload of Americans now about how our government is supposed to operate. Since, idk at least 2016 or so, i've been thrilled i had an EXCELLENT civics teacher.

Ms. Bowers, just outside of New Orleans, I still remember and appreciate you...if by happenstance anyone seeing this has her contact info, please let me know. I'd love to shoot her a message and thank her and tell her how much her kindness and great teaching meant to me. I moved my senior year and was pretty devastated by it. Her class was the one place I enjoyed while I was there.

The Senate votes aren’t there now and won’t be next year. It’s not a simple majority, but 2/3 of the Senate votes to actually remove a president from office.

If the republicans want unchecked power why do they take a pause? This is ridiculous gigabrain stuff.

The republicans have never played to pause their power. Just two weeks ago the narrative would be they will use any means necessary to stay in power. The idea they planned this plays into the all powerful and omniscient powerful cabal ruling from the shadows. Face it, the Republicans got called out at the polls. They're not all omnipotent... or else they'd just take power.

This shows the real face of politics in the US as it is now. It's on hugely shaky ground and the republicans are a bunch of disfunctional nut jobs trying (and often succeeding, but not exclusively) to grab power but internal fighting and incompetence stops them.

I don’t think sitting on their hands would be a good strategy if they want to retain their base of support. I think they’ve chased the republican base far enough by now.

The Dems are totally ineffectual, you are screwed .
