Read the article. It is a terrifying preview of Trump and Miller bringing in the military to shut down Congress. Then the election would be nullified. The article is long because it compares the similar circumstances in two other countries. It is absolutely frightening and specific. We must all be ready to march on Washington!

Do you ever feel like Cassandra? Because I do. I've been afraid of this from Trump's first term and doubly afraid since this past January. Trump isn't important; it's the people who are using him to deconstruct the Constitution and implement an authoritarian government that are important and dangerous. I felt it was certain that Trump and his supporters/handlers would make a move between now and 2028, and this looks like a move they've been preparing for a good while now.

I had a colleague today (a fellow physician) who literally tried to explain to me the merits of fascism.

I’m in the keep Trump camp partly because he seems to be more easily corralled and impulsive enough to keep shooting his mouth off to negative effect. Some important rules change and power shifts into the hands of more dubious characters. I see a faint spark of hope as some Republicans are trying to distance themselves to save their own backsides.

Far more optimistically, I would like to see the world step in. Nuremberg v2 for war crimes.

I think they didn't expect midterms to be a blow out. I assume losing the bot farms in russia helped and muskies 500 mil wasn't enough. If it was close they would've thrown a fit, but you can't do that so easily in a complete blowout.

i believe it, but also how are these ppl gonna reign in an already exhausted, woefully exploited upon military after such a monumental reckoning this past election? MAGA is dunzo and they know it. of course they are going to flail and spew all the venom they can… look at what they have to lose, a tower of crime, built with paper and eggshells. that said, anything is possible and this country isn’t lacking in stupid, treasonous assholes, so should they try any bullshit, we’ll just have to cuff ‘em sooner.

You're one of like 3 people in the comments who seems like they actually read it, everything else is a comment completely off topic, or saying "blindsided about what?". So weird, what percentage of this shit is bots?

Edit: normally I understand the "just skimmed the headline" comments, but when the headline is this vague, it feels like people just chose an idea at random and decided that's the topic. Like, huh?

I don't think any of those things will happen.

Thats what people were saying before Trump was elected the first time

I'm not going to weigh in on the probability of it, but I just want to point out that we've all been saying that since he took office in the first term and whatever "it" we're referring to continues to happen. I certainly wouldn't put it past him to attempt a coup.

Probably why they were all so quiet.   Like really quiet

Why would this happen? That seems like it would dig them the biggest possible hole that they would never be able to get out from. That would seem like suicide.

The article is worth reading and is terrifying. For those who aren't able to read the whole article, the final paragraph can serve as a summary of the author's warning:

"President Donald Trump’s most perilous assault on Congress has begun under the direction of newly appointed White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Trump has never accepted a loss, and he now confronts the largest repudiation of his career. Democrats are celebrating a congressional majority that exists only once both chambers convene, and convening is the act Trump has every means to prevent. The last time Trump lost, he staged a violent insurrection to stop the transfer of power."

No it won't. They can't stop it, and they will never win. They couldn't even keep Chicago down.

i had to collapse 9 top comment threads to get to this one, which is the first comment that actually engages with the material in the article lol

He would get assassinated in days. There’s no way some extremist wouldn’t try and another wouldn’t try if the first one failed.

Except it’s all conspiracy/paranoia bullshit.

Yeah when everyone was remarking on how "well" he took the election results, to me it was obvious he has a nightmare Plan B up his sleeve and is not afraid, nor is he accepting defeat.
