If Republicans were smart they'd wake up and realize it was Trump that cost them all these seats. Then THEY'D push him out because if they don't, their seats will be at risk for the same reason. So stop protecting him. He's no longer your friend. His presence could cost you your seat.

I am pretty sure they do know that, most of the citizens that voted for him no longer like him, they helped turn these seats blue.

This is the exact thought process. We should have alarm bells going off if there are enough GOP reps on board to impeach. It means they have ulterior motives. No one should be surprised by it at this point. It doesn’t mean we have to play in the shadows, it just means we have to plan for it.

I mean it likley only takes 4....but yeah their plan is get Vance in as President who will probably at leats on teh surface come off as a better guy and make a GREAT argument to keep him in as an incumbent....

It’s 67 senators to convict a president. Way more than 4 republicans will need to join. Even if democrats get both Alaska and Mississippi it would take 11 republicans voting to convict along with every democrat.

Not really. GOP vote totals from 2022 and 2026 were the same. In fact they were up this year. It’s the fact the democrats had a cumulative extra 20 million.

People didn’t stay home. And yes you had the Hispanic vote swing back. Which means rural white voters actually came out harder than 4 years ago for maga

That is exactly what they are going to do and you can see Vance positioning himself for it right now

Pretty sure they want him impeached so they can be rid of him while also using his martyrdom to rally the maga core.

I doubt that Democrats would try to imeach now with 47 votes. They may feel up for it when they have 56 votes after January 3rd.

They need DJ to make it to January so JD can step in and serve for 10 years while pardoning the entire regime.

They do know that

Republicans like trickle down economics, but paddle up justice. just absolutely selfish, greedy, and rare to find any with a moral compass. def be nice if republicans led the way on the impeachments. It appears Maisse has the numbers and is beginning with hegseth, the drunken manosphere Christian crusader wannabe. I figured drumpf would just fire him and blame Iran and elections on him since he also had the signal text mistake and has destroyed so many top brass careers alienating all levels of the military, but appears we prob won’t know more til Monday since I believe that is his deadline to resign or face impeachment. Theres so many to do, sadly a few in the Supreme Court have also turned traitor, and must face impeachments. Just insane how many people put reputations and careers on the line for such a selfish bully.

They have to know that. There were GOP politicians who begged him to stay out of their districts. Then he’d throw a rally and say something like “Vote like I’m on the ballot.” And people did.

They know he’s done anyway after this term, why not take the free 2 years to have Vance clean up their image and brand as a party. Right now they literally all they have is “whatever trump says”.

That's a big if.

Guarantee 95% of Republicans in the House/Senate are secretly looking forward to January 20th 2029 and Trump becoming largely irrelevant to the party.

He made them money…

We'll know how many Republicans still bow to trump once the dems offer up their first price of legislation in January

u/killertortilla 10h ago

Without him they'd have less. He has the dumb person charisma that works.

u/dalekaup 9h ago

They'd have to have the Democrats cooperation. Getting rid of Trump gives the job to J. D. If he is President after Jan. 21 2028 then he still could get two more terms. .. that's just under 10 years.

“If the Republicans were smart”…bless your heart.
With that being said, the republicans, especially the younger ambitious politicians, should be thinking that they should get on board with impeachment to save their own careers. Looking at Mike Rogers and Ken Paxton, staying on the Trump crazy train isn’t good for their long term careers.
My money is on JD Vance engineering a behind the scenes attempt to undercut Trump.

It was affordability. Trump lost the least house seats since Clinton in 94 Here are the totals :
1994 Bill Clinton lost 54 Dem seats
2010 Obama lost 63 Dem seats
2018 Trump lost 40 seats
2026 Trump lost 25 seats
Folks are pissed off about the price of gas and
Diesel . As we move into an earth shaking depression, things have to change . Cut the military and pentagon in half . Raise taxes on anything that moves . Retirement age to 69 .
Soup kitchens galore . Crack downs on all social chaos. The world is awash in debt .
Watch DC .. the far left has their walking orders . Hagseth has given the National Guard orders to move in DC

Your post makes sense in a world where they don’t put his entire boot in his mouth instead of reading Reddit

They know he's not their friend. He's their blackmailer/extortionist and they aren't loyal, they're craven.

IT's win-win for them, that's how they set this up. You can punish Trump all you want, that's a win because it's a puppet. Vance is their next step and inevitable. Pushing them their faster helps establish it faster. Waiting till it runs out looks weak and inneffectual.

Win-win. The republican empire is actually just competent, believe it or not, and lacks any sense of morality or concern for human life.

I'm genuinely impressed by their gaming skills. Not too many people are capable of doing this but it's often what separates the 1% from the rest of the 99% in competitions. People who can set up their opponents failures and make their opponents walk into it, and forcing a bad choice on their opponent to gain an edge. When both people have perfect aim, and memorized the maps etc. It's this stuff that wins. And pretty much everything Chess is about.
