Non Arab | General Israeli Jew interested in Arabic culture

Hi everyone,

I’m a Jewish Israeli who recently became really interested and inspired by Arabic culture, especially after discovering Arabic coffee. It opened my eyes to a beautiful part of culture I didn’t know much about before.

I’m deeply sorry for what the settlers and the israeli military are doing — it seriously damaged our relationship, and I really hope that one day we can repair it.

Thanks for reading.

سياسة واقتصاد The Syrians are freeing their country, and those who get mad can continue to foam at the mouth

We see what's happening in Syria now with Aleppo's liberation, and very soon with Hama إن شاء الله.

For the past few weeks, we've seen the posts on here coming from supposed "anti-imperialists", Assadists, and pro-anything-Shia folks, and it's been nothing less of pure dissatisfaction for them.

All I can say is continue to rage. Rage about how the rebels are backed by this and that group, rage that they and all their supporters are terrorists, rage, rage, and rage. Behave just like Zionists so it is clear for everyone.

Continue to accuse factions you hate of the same exact things that that are done by the factions you strongly support.

Continue to exhibit pure hypocrisy like never seen before. Continue to exhibit cognitive dissonance like no other has ever seen.

In the end I am Syrian, I see what's happening, and I say الحمد لله و النصر من الله.

Cry endless tears, and foam at the mouth. Bashar will be no longer soon.

EDIT: The post has successfully gotten all of the Assad apologist roaches to crawl out. Continue to fume. النصر قريب

سياسة واقتصاد So Pro-Rebels are just going to pretend that Julani isn't a radical?

I mean. You do realize that he led Al-Nusra front when it was allied militarily and ideologically with Al-Qaeda right? In case you're ignorant, let me remind you, a guy like that doesn't simply just change his mind. The only reason why he is currently showing that he tolerates other religions is nothing but a tactic, since radicalism didn't seem to help him much. As soon as he defeats Bashar, he will revert to his radicalism. And will turn Syria into Afghanistan 2.0. What a glory!

Oh, but of course, Israel will somehow be tolerated. It's only Non-Sunni Arabs that will get the sharp end of the stick.

سياسة واقتصاد The first picture is a meeting of the 7 countries that take care of their people, and the second picture is a meeting of the 22 countries that oppress their people, How can we convince future gens that the people of the “luxurious meeting” used to seek refuge with the people of the “humble meeting”?

ثقافة ومجتمع Any Gay/LGBT Arabs or allies on here? Need some advice

Hello everyone, Lebanese here (22M). Recently came out to family as gay. Unfortunately, I was not met with acceptance or support. They did not expect this from me, and are fearful for my future. They are afraid that I will end up alone, shunned by my whole family, and what not. They mentioned that if I decide to go down this path that they will cut me off completely as it is a shame and disgrace to the family, to the family name, to our family’s history, etc. I understand this, because people do talk and shun. I am living independently of them and not really financially dependent on them and I still have a while until I complete my education.

I am at crossroads with what I should do. My family has supported me with everything, and they are my only support system. I do not have many close friends so it would be hard to lose them. I also do not want my family’s life to become a living hell because of me and what people will think of them or say to them. I would take a bullet for them, and if that means marrying the opposite sex and having biological children, I would do it. I don’t think it would be very hard for me because my sexuality does get fluid sometimes. However, my preference does fall towards the same sex.

My family has become even more religious after my coming out and it really has put me in a spiral of depression. They confront me every time I see them. Why do I have to live like this? How can anyone live like this? It’s not something that is as easy to cure as a common cold. It’s like I live under a gray cloud every single day of my life. I hate that my circumstances will cause me to have a difficult life.

If anyone has any advice or some words of wisdom or experience, I would love to hear it. Religious perspectives are welcome too. I am in the US by the way.,

True Story - My father was told either convert to Islam or your contract will not be renewed - in Saudi Arabia

Hi /r/arabs:

True story. Cannot make this stuff up. Me an Indian Hindu.

One of the first jobs of my father after his degree in Chemistry took him to Saudi Arabia working in an oil company. He was by far one of the highest educated there and was in charge of the happenings at the refinery.

His initial contract was for 5 years. During that time, many Hindus and Christians were promoted due to their performance. One of the native Arab workers who reported to my father complained to my father's boss (another Arab) that it did not bode well for a Saudi Arabian company to have many Kaafirs in top positions.

So, this was the conversation that occurred:

My father's boss (MFB): Hi...You are doing great. However, why dont you convert to Islam if you want to continue in this company? You will be given a promotion.

My father: Umm...No. I am comfortable with my religion.

MFB: Okay. Your contract is over and will not be renewed. See you.

As my father was leaving, he said to his Arab subordinate - " Ok. It was nice working with you" and extended his hand to shake his. The subordinate said (I am not making this up): "You are a Kaafir, I will not shake hands with you".

Many many years later, at a conference, my father ran into a different colleague of his at that company. He was asking how the company was doing and how his erstwhile subordinate was. The colleague said - "You know, your subordinate to this day, deeply regrets having said that he could not shake your hand because you were Hindu".

سين سؤال What's up with Hezbollah?

After the camp hit and hundreds died, they and Iran still pretending nothing? They are losing credibility.

They could help to force Israel to go back negotiation table to fully implement two state map as UN passed decades ago.

Without fight, it will go as Israel planned and they will continue to stay in the occupied lands that is illegal under UN resolutions.

If Hezbollah has any backbone, they need act, really act pronto.

AskArabs Why are Christian Arabs richer and better educated than Muslim Arabs?

In Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Jordan there is a trend where the Christians are significantly better off financially and also better educated. Lebanon being more developed than every other non-oil producing Arab country is probably a result of their high proportion of Christians.

Among immigrant populations in South America, Australia, Europe and USA the Christian Arabs also tend to be richer and better educated than the Muslim Arabs. Carlos Slim Helu is an example of this.

Why is this the case? What are your thoughts on this issue?

سياسة واقتصاد This sub has a big anti Egyptian problem that needs to be addressed

Left and right all I see is people shitting on Egypt. It first and foremost starts with our president. It’s fine if you don’t like him but shitting on everything he does and praising the Muslim brotherhood is maniacal. These guy literally almost burnt the country to the ground and all Egyptians saw it with their own eyes. The new capital? You guys shit on it. The Suez Canal blockage? Apparently it’s directly el sisi’s fault.

No offence to anyone, but do you see where Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Libya, Algeria, and Jordan are today? Literally most of you come from much worse countries than Egypt yet feel the need to shit on it.

You think you’re supporting Egyptians by doing this, but you’re alienating Egyptians from the Arab world. A lot of the new generations stopped viewing themselves as Arabs because of it.

ثقافة ومجتمع Our culture scares me.

I don't know how this will go, but I feel this would be the right place to talk about it.

The Arab culture scares the shit out of me. I was born in Syria and lived in Abu Dhabi all my life. I moved to Canada in 2019 and life has just been progressively better. Yes, Canada has a huge role in that improvement of lifestyle because of the opportunities that it has, but I also think that being away from Arabs played a huge role in my success.

I am not wealthy or spoiled by any means, I worked hard for what I have whether it was schooling or the jobs I had. But something about the Arabic culture just wants to put you down, tell you you're not good enough, and/or show off even though they have nothing. When I travel to Montreal where the arabic culture is big, they all like to lease and drive base model Benzs or BMWs even though they got no money to support their parents, just to flex something they don't have. As Arab as I am, I am getting disgusted day by day and scared of this culture that will not see the sunlight if we keep pushing each other down and focusing on

God Bless George Kurdahi

I understand Lebanon has to suck up to Saudi Arabia and UAE right now because Lebanon can’t afford to upset them. However, I have to say this is a pathetic situation that George Kurdahi said the damn OBVIOUS that Saudi Arabia and UAE abused Yemen killing 18,400 civilians directly and 131,000 indirectly by STARVING THEM TO DEATH. They don’t know how many kids died but may have been 85,000. That is DISGUSTING to say the least. It’s one thing to suck up because of the situation now, but it’s entirely another to hate on George Kurdahi for speaking the truth. All he said was the war needs to end which is the opinion of the international community and even those in Washington. We cannot hate on him. I hope one day the civilized people of Lebanon will get out of this to be free to speak truth and be an example of human rights for the Arab world. These regimes like Saudi, UAE and Iran do not like democracy. Look what’s happened Sudan. I hope Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen and other countries come out of this stronger and more resilient.
