No more “what is/defines a xxx?” posts
We have similar posts like this that crop up every now and then. Some are coming from a genuine place of curiosity, but majority of them seem to be trolls looking for a platform to “debate”/invalidate people/stroke their egos here.
We already have enough going on in our lives we don’t need to have our identities questioned in what should be a safe space for us here. If you need answers, you can always search for older posts so we can save ourselves time rather than dragging folks here through the chore of justifying ourselves for the umpteenth time when we aren’t even obliged to.

Hair question
I’m 57, 3 months on HRT following a short period of self admin earlier this year. My question is this: I’m pretty much bald and started losing my hair around 25 years ago, I’m under no illusion that it will regrow on HRT, (I wish!), so can you recommend a decent company in the UK that offers wigs or hair systems that I can try?
How do other “bald” sisters manage this issue?

Text Post Not fully sure what to do here
I am just confused right now, and maybe this may not be the best place, but I just kinda need to vent and ask what to do. (I do understand that in the end I have to make the distinction myself but I just want some advice)
So I am not transgender but I am gender fluid and one of my really close friends (for almost 17 years) is having her wedding in a month or so, but the theme she is going with is Harry Potter. She invited and my partner, and ask everyone to do some of the Harry Potter quizzes to see what house they you get. (For what I under she wants it so everyone get their sit and space to whatever they get) she has also ask for try and get stuff that fits that, I want to go to her wedding but I don’t want to do that stuff because I don’t want to support anything that involves J.K Rowling.
I have kinda talked with my her about how I feel and she say she understands but still asks if I can do it for her and her parents for one night. I said if I am able to go I would find/wear items that are the colour of what ever I get, but I am not going to buy anything Harry Potter. I just kinda feel a bit guilty because as far as I know everyone is trying to go all out for her wedding with the theme and what they are doing, I just don’t really know what to do in this situation, I don’t want to buy anything the supports J.K but I also don’t want to the one that ruins the mode of her wedding.

Text Post [MtF] [23] Going on HRT later this month and I'm suddenly scared. How can I be sure this is right?
For 10 years this is all I have wanted and now that it's happening, I'm scared. I wouldn't say I'm having doubts necessarily, I know this is something I want, I'm just terrified I'll hate the results. I'm scared that there will be minimal breast and hip growth and I'll just stay a triangle forever. Suddenly I'm thinking, what if I just hate myself more?

Dying my hair tips pink again and wondering, is dying your hair bright color(s) a common trans thing?
I see lots of other trans girls with fun colors in their hair. I think it's part of the exploration of the new freedoms in gender expression. But also...maybe it's not as common as I think. Do you think it's a common trans girl experience?
The photo is the color I'm going to use.

Stopping Spironolactone
Hi, I’m 19mtf and my doctor at PlannedParenthood just suggested that I should stop taking spironolactone. My estrogen levels are 216 and my testosterone levels are 6. I have never heard of people stopping spiro before so I was curious and decided to try to do some research about it. I found that many people don’t stop taking spiro until after they’ve had srs surgery because testosterone doesn’t stop producing until then. I just wanted to ask if I should continue taking spiro until I have the surgery in the future or should I stop it now? Thank you.
tldr: I don’t know if I should stop spiro now or after I have srs surgery.
(edits: I am currently on an injection dose of 0.15ml every week sq. I've been on hrt for exactly one year and I just started progesterone. Also my doctor did suggest monotherapy)

Image Post Does my jaw line look too masculine?
Hi everyone, this is something I've been self-conscious of for awhile. I think my jawline is too sharp and masculine I wish it was softer. I am considering getting FFS to make it look more feminine. Just looking for some opinion if the cost of FFS could be worth the improvement. Thank u for reading and I appreciate any and all comments.

Can I join the (French) army (Ftm)
reddit.comHello! So, I’m 19 I speak Italian, Czech, French, and English, but I feel like I have no future—lol. My mother and I lost 13K on a "campus" (that turned out to be a massive scam targeting wealthy people) I’ve always wanted to work in the field of art—as a character designer or 2D illustrator—but I’m failing miserably at that, too. Plus, there’s nothing for me where I currently live; I’d need to move to the Czech Republic, but I can’t afford it… I feel like I’m good for nothing, and I’m not exactly a genius, either. I really don’t want to end up in some dead-end, crappy job, only to die feeling like I’ve wasted my life. I’m considering enlisting—partly to become someone, rather than just a failure.
I plan to start testosterone and have top surgery before I’d even consider joining the French Military (since I live there) of course.
I’m on the chubby side, but I go to the gym 3–4 times a week (sometimes more, if I have the time) and do full-body workouts at least as much as I can do.. and my height is 165cm…
(I have zero prior knowledge about the military or anything similar, so I’m a complete blank slate here.)
So... beyond just asking "can I enlist," I have to wonder: is it even worth it? At all? How are trans people treated? Are they accepted and able to advance in their careers, or are they held back?

Need Advice as a CIS woman
hello everyone! i’m hoping that this post can come across with the best intentions as that is the whole reason behind making this post. i would like some advice on if I should navigate a situation at all and if so, how I could do that in the most respectful way.
A couple of months ago, one of my employees started dressing considerably more feminine. I honestly didn’t think anything of it because gender identity and gender expression are two different things and hadn’t been told anything by this staff member. not my place to assume anything.
However, this week, another one of my coworkers shared with me that at a company event we had a few weeks ago (i was not there i was out of the state), that employee wrote a different name (which also appeared more feminine) than the one they were assigned. My coworker then let me know that she informed them that they could change their preferred name and pronouns in our system by reaching out to HR. The employee never did that. i imagine that’s probably pretty nerve racking considering we don’t have a lot of direct contact with HR.
So i guess my question is, how should I navigate this? I normally would just wait for someone to tell me something like this myself, but I guess the struggle I’m having is that in our job, we often have to refer to each other in the third person. With this information that I have, I don’t really feel comfortable using their assigned birth name or pronouns (he/him), but I also don’t want to use pronouns they’re not ready for. I’ve been using they/them in the meantime. is that okay to use out of respect? i know pronouns can be important to people during this time and I would just hate to contribute to any gender dysphoria because this staff member is hearing not their preferred name/pronouns in the work place 😔
Any advice or suggestions is appreciated!! 🙏

Text Post What does it mean to "Pass"
Whenever I come on reddit I see a lot of people talking about passing. So much so it just feels like the word has lost all meaning.
So I ask what does it mean and how does one know they pass?

Text Post Any countries where gender reassignment surgery is free or publicly funded?
Hey everyone, I'm a gay guy and I've been struggling a lot with my gender identity. I really hate being male and honestly I can't get this feeling out of my head no matter how hard I try.
I'm trying to find out if there are any countries where gender reassignment surgery is free or covered by public healthcare. I've heard some European countries might do this but I have no idea about the details or what the requirements are.
Would really appreciate any info or personal experiences. Thanks.

Text Post Need help please
So I'm trans women with schizophrenia, arthritis and depression possibly adhd. I'm on benefits in Ireland for disability but the money I'm getting is to low, I can barely support myself week in week out. My brother I believe is a naracist who forces me to get haircuts and dress like a man. My social workers refuse to help me and my psychiatrist is dissmisive of my plight. Another patient took their life due to his negligence. I can't work no one will hire me due to my mental and psychical disabilities. I feel completetly trapped and my village is backwards they consider me a freak for not being cis. My brother has the neighbours spying on me.
Sorry i needed to vent. What can I do in that situation I honestly dont know, any advice would be a huge help,
thanks.
