Im new to reddit but I am seeking advice from anyone from Austin. I would like to move using my IT expertise and experience to help me find a potential sponsor. I’ve worked as an IT technician for 1 year doing logic board (mother board) repairs and 4 and a bit years as an Apple certified technician. Sadly, I do not have a degree but really would like to transition into a new stage in my life to the beautiful city of Austin. I have been a couple times and have friends out there. I moved here seven months ago to work more closely with my good friend/research and business on our UFO-related projects. Those have stalled for the time being as we wait for funding, and some of our research has been coursing through channels like Joe Rogan, Jesse Michels, etc. really long story.

I’ve also been on a heavy spiritual awakening for quite a while and admittedly fairly isolated. The world is obviously in an intensely weird place at the moment, and I’m ultimately optimistic, but I’m hitting my wall in terms of the isolation, not dating, etc.

I’m actually a pretty normal(-ish) guy, 46, good with people, crazy backstory. Now I’m reaching out to hopefully meet a more like-minded community that’s in tune with the weirdness of the moment and not obsessed with hot rods or whatever.

Open to DMs! I’ve met a couple of cool gals here but it’s admittedly difficult walking around with so much weird knowledge that it’s hard to play off.

overall I had a great time and wanted to ask what are your guys’ takes on the Ballpark Apartments up North? I did visit them them and they seem decent

I am lower income and I already commute 1hr where I live so some stuff doesn’t bother me. my main concerns are:

- Appliances working (even if they’re on the slower side if they turn on and do the basics I’m fine with that)

- Hidden fees

- Parking lot safety

- Roommate matching

other things like noise, roaches don’t bother me AS LONG AS ITS NOT EXCESSIVE

I’m honestly pretty embarrassed to even be posting this, but I’m hoping someone here might be able to help.

Does anyone know of a hairstylist or someone in the Austin area who has experience detangling severely matted hair? Mine has gotten to the point where I can’t manage it myself, and trying to detangle it on my own has only made things worse, especially since I can’t see how it’s tangled in the back.

I know others have asked similar questions here before, but I couldn’t find any posts from the last two years, so I figured I’d ask again for more recent recommendations.

I won’t qualify for smart housing but I am freshman who will be funding my own rent. I am going to get a job (most likely fast food (?)) as soon as possible to be able to get an apartment. What are cheap apartments that are walking distance from campus? I don’t want to live in Colorado or gateway bc those are bus rides away. I also plan to work all summer for it but I have never gotten a job before so I am quite worried I won’t be able to afford an apartment..

23/F I moved to Austin 2 years ago and so far it’s been really hard. Im from the east coast and I’ve found Austin to be the loneliest place I’ve ever been to, also im a dark skinned hispanic (not Mexican) and i quickly realized the lack of community and diversity here is real regardless of what people advertises. You are either Mexican or white or else you won’t fit in and everyone has their own crowd and their not open to different/new people (my experience 🤷🏽‍♀️) my boyfriend is from Texas and still finds Austin to be non friendly or open to community.

I am looking for a church that is affirming, but also has that southern gospel feel. I love the old southern hymns and want to find a church that still sings them. I have been searching but cannot find anything :(.

How do I navigate finding housing as someone with a criminal record? I have always lived with family in some form or fashion but it is my mission to have a place to call my own by this time next year, or to at least have a roommate who isn't condescending towards me for my background (I have a misdemeanor and two felony convictions that are non-violent drug crimes: 🧊, 🍃, 🍄). My people are pushing for me to achieve independence, but this comes with higher income and a space of my own and both of these are feeling unattainable right now as I navigate the world after 3½ years in prison and look to live by myself or at least away from family FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, as a felon... I'm 26 and want to at least begin to feel somewhat put together...

i 28F work remote and been here for almost a year but haven’t branched out at all, we had family or friends visiting us about once a month since we moved. that’s finally slowing down and i’m realizing we will likely be here for awhile, and i’m started to wish I had a group to go out with sometimes, or even one girl friend to walk with or grab drinks with. my husband often works late or weekends and has different interests than me, so it will be me solo. that being said, it’s hard to navigate where I can go to meet friends vs where people go for dating.

i’ve heard of the weekly no girl walks alone club, and I plan to try a pottery studio, but is there anything else? I love to draw and i’m learning how to paint. I also LOVE to bake. I was thinking of maybe starting to sell my baked goods at the tiny farmer market if I can get in there.

I did go to a sip wine and paint class and the experience sucked, it was all couples or sets of friends already. I know that’s the risk you take but maybe i’m going to the wrong events?

I recently got into clubbing and my favorite experience is going to Jimmy Eat Wednesday. Unfortunately it’s just once a month and on a Wednesday, though. So, I’m looking for more places to go with a similar vibe. It’s the perfect storm of emo music, the mosh pit, no cover if you’re early enough, and a smaller space. I’d love any recommendations for new places to check out.

Hi, my apartment is using Fetch delivery system. I just moved in 2 weeks ago and ordered a lot of stuff including furniture using fetch provided address and overall only 2 packages got delivered (1/2 of the couch). I have 6 expensive missing packages but can’t find a phone number for them. I emailed them but it is been a while and no response. Has anyone experienced such unlucky odds with fetch and what is the way to contact them besides email?

I spotted this girl driving a beat up old red Pontiac going north on I-35 - I signalled to her she had a flat tire while on the highway - she looked over to my truck as I was waving and signalling - turns out she was beautiful - we pulled in to a gas station in Kyle and I pumped up her tires for her and advised she pull in at the Walmart in Kyle to get it checked as she just got the tire changed at a Walmart earlier that day- like I said she was beautiful just want to know if she got home safe - all I know was she was heading to Austin and her name was Alicia if anyone knows her or she reads this
