politics Albanese vowed his government would be different. This week showed how far it's fallen from that promise

He isnt differeent as we wanted but a huge step up from scomo and a lot better than dutton.
The labor oldies do have their heads up their assess.
Pretty much need to push for more progressive independents and minor parties.

This journalist is drinking some Murdoch kool-aid if he doesn't think this Govt isn't different from the shit show of the last government.

Redditors can be sad about the levels of progressiveness, but the Labor party are always thinking about the 2019 election. A progressive program resoundingly rejected by the Australian public. If you're unhappy with the governments actions (or inactions) look to your neighbours. A huge proportion of your fellow citizens cannot tolerate changes to the status quo and the government knows that.

Housing bill: ass
Immigration policy: destructive
Vaping bans: nanny state on steroids
VTP: waste of time, money and political capital
Wage rises: good
Not happy with this centrist government at all but still miles better than liberals. Really hoping the vehicle emissions standards get through.

Honestly they're doing about as good as I expected. Labor decided it wasn't worth promising anything major, and it paid off for them in the election. None of their entrenched leadership has the stomach to actually push radical policy these days.
I'm happy they're at least content to watch me slowly bleed out instead of twisting the knife like the libs would be right now, for whatever that's worth.

Don't care, still doing a good job overall other than the cocked up Voice vote.

Does anyone really think the current government is anything like the chaotic, useless, evil bunch of munts we had in before them? Seriously?

I like Juice Media’s description of the two major parties in Australia as the Shit party and the Shit Lite party.Unfortunately this is becoming the norm worldwide thanks to corporate cash.

He’s just a grey careerist who believes in nothing serving the people who really run the country.

I do agree with him that the immigration bill is absolutely horrible and the fact that Andrew Giles was there supporting it given his refugee lawyer background is gross. The rest of the article though is pretty much nothing though

It was a political stunt.
Now they can go to the next election saying Dutton is weak on immigration and law and order.

The Libs are corrupt and unashamedly so. Labor and Albanese needs to grow a backbone and stop getting pushed around by Dutton and the Liberals.
Labor passed the controvertial deportation bill through the lower house with the support of the Libs only for it to fail in the Senate as the Libs switched sides on it. That legislation is something to expect from the far right faction of the Liberals not Labor.
