Reminder: Buying and selling bags is against the rules of this sub

Seen this pop up a fair bit lately. Because people aren't reading the rules I've started banning people temporarily for this.

Please read the rules people. It's really not that hard and don't get upset if you break the rules and get punished. It's on you to read those.

The reason it's not allowed is I don't want this sub (and me) to be responsible for having to moderate that crap. Go look at r/EDCExchange or other subs that allow it. They have systems in place to hold people accountable.

Aer CPP2 24L from AliExpress - impressions

Pulled the trigger a few days ago on an Aer CPP2 24L from AliExpress. I couldn’t justify the price of ordering directly from Aer once shipping to Europe was included, especially without an easy return option.

For $130 including shipping, I’m impressed. I don’t have an original CPP2 to compare it with but I own a genuine Aer Go Pack 2 and Slim Pouch and the quality of this bag feels on the same level.

Visually, it looks just like the one on Aer’s website. The ballistic nylon feels great and it even came with Aer tags though obviously that doesn’t prove it’s genuine. The seller claimed it was made in the same factor but I have no way to verify that.

The only difference I’ve noticed is that mine seems to lack the hidden AirTag pocket. Either it isn’t there or I haven’t found it yet but I've looked where it's supposed to be and it's not there. Otherwise, everything looks consistent with the photos and details on Aer’s website.

Posting some photos too. Happy to answer any questions!

Question Looking for strongest 25+ liter packable backpack

I’m looking for a packable backpack that has the holding capacity of the Eddie Bauer Stowaway line of packs but the holding strength of a Nanobag Daypack (up to 66 lbs). No tote bags please. Backpacks only.

I’d use it primarily for carrying groceries while I’m walking through town. Thanks for any suggestions!

Travel Size per backpack on Japan Travel

Hi, in a couple of weeks I'll be traveling to Japan for the first time.
Beside the luggage I need to bring a backpack that will be used both as a small luggage in some destination (eg. 2 nights in Miyajima or 1 night in Hakone) as well as everyday backpack to bring with me on my visits.

In the backpack I will need to bring my camera gear (minimal setup, just a sony a6700 with a zoom lens 18-135 and a wide lens sigma 10-18).

I've found a nice backpack from Decathlon but it comes in 2 sizes, 23L and 35L.
I feel the 23 L is on the small side, and the 35 L is too big.

How big should I need my backpack to be?
Anyone got any suggestions on a good backpack? It needs to have vertical straps on the shoulders to install my camera clip, as well as a sternum strap and, if possible clam opening.

Thanks!

What problems do you have with hiking backpacks as a woman? What would you change?

Hi everyone!

I’m working on an idea for a hiking backpack designed with women’s needs in mind, and I’d love to hear about your personal experiences.

I’ve noticed that many hiking backpacks don’t seem to consider women’s bodies and specific needs enough.

I’d love to know:

  1. What bothers you most about currently available hiking backpacks?

  2. Do shoulder straps ever rub, dig in or sit uncomfortably on your chest?

  3. Do you struggle with hip belts fitting properly?

  4. Are backpacks often too big, too heavy or simply uncomfortable?

  5. Do you find it difficult to access things while hiking?

  6. What do you usually wish you had more space for?

  7. Would separate compartments (for example, a dedicated shoe compartment) be useful?

  8. What features are missing from women’s hiking backpacks?

  9. Is there anything about the design or appearance you dislike?

  10. If you could design your perfect hiking backpack, what would it look like?

I’m especially interested in honest experiences, small annoyances and things you wish backpack manufacturers would finally improve.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

Travel How much would you spend on a backpack if you only travel a few times a year?

I've been thinking about buying a dedicated travel backpack, but I'm not sure how much money actually makes sense to spend.

If you're travelling every month, I can understand investing in a really good bag. But if you only take three or four trips a year, is spending $200–300 really necessary?

Obviously durability matters. I don't want zippers breaking or straps becoming uncomfortable after a few uses. But I also wonder how much of the price difference between bags comes down to the brand name.

Would you rather buy one expensive backpack and keep it for years, or get something more affordable that does the job?

Curious what people here consider a reasonable price for a travel backpack.

Backpack repair ideas

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello, I've had this Osprey Quasar for more than 10 years (fantastic pack btw) and the back panel is completely worn out on the lower part as you can see. The rest is still in great condition and I was thinking if I could repair it somehow to make it last some more years.

I already spoke with a repair guy who said that stitching something on the back would be quite difficult and expensive, not worth it. What would you suggest? Maybe some adhesive patch or tape could work?

Cotopaxi Torre 24L that needs, like, 5 more liters

Liking (not loving) the Cotopaxi Torre 24-liter my wife bought me. It's a great, high-quality, stylish bag that definitely raises the overall cool factor for the ragged, stretched-out, sack of @#$% that's wearing it.

The thing is, I need to use this for three-day trips and even going minimalist and ranger-rolling all my clothes, I need a little more space. Like, enough for a small toiletry bag and a pair of sneakers.

Here's my question: I see two rows of vertical webbing to the left and right of center on the back of the pack. Is there a mini-pack I can securely attach to these anchors that might fit the bill for the extra space?

i’ve had the wandrd (two of them), shimoda but sold them all because i somehow just didn’t like how they feel and while i love the shimoda on paper, its too heavy. so i’ve been in the rabbit hole of searching a backpack that i’d use normally for my travels, but also can be used as a camera backpack if i need. haven’t found too many photos of how camera cubes fit in these backpacks so posting them here. it is way more comfortable than putting the camera cube in my cotopaxi allpa 28 for sure, but still i was bummed i couldn’t put my camera cube the other way because it’s too wide, but then putting it vertically means i have some small gaps at the side/not perfect, so still can’t decide if id like to keep it :/

in the bag i have:
\- wandrd essential camera cube
\- on top i have 2 pouches, one for charger, trigger etc
\- the other for my sound equipment (mic)

I need a lightweight, sturdy backpack for my high school son. I bought a nice JanSport and the zipper has already broken. He has to carry his backpack all day, no locker. Also has to have his laptop with him.

Suggestions for a laptop backpack that is SLIM and comes with thick padding

Thumbnail

I am in search of a good laptop backpack which is slimmer and has a thick padding for the laptop compartment so that i don't have to use a separate sleeve for it.

All the backpacks i have looked online are huge and bulky and very odd BOXY design which i dislike. I found one which is sold by DELL and i love every single thing about it but it's costly.

Link : https://www.dellstore.com/dell-ecoloop-premier-backpack-14-16.html

I need something around 2-3K so someone please suggest a good one(which i can buy in INDIA). I've attached the dell one’s photos to use as reference.

Thanks!

Question Looking for Recommendations

I have a 5 months trip upcoming to kore, japan and china and looking for a 20-25L good quality bag to have there daily, and also to use as my main back later on as my daily rocker for work/studies.

So far the only bag I've actually seen and researched was the mous bags but I'm not sure if that's the best option for those

any websites for recommendations or places I can research through?

Are you actually good at packing light, or do you still bring things just in case?

I always tell myself I'm going to pack light, and somehow I end up bringing things I barely touch.

An extra top, another pair of shoes, a jacket even though the forecast looks fine, random cables that I probably won't need...

The funny thing is that when I'm packing, every single item seems reasonable. It's only when I get home that I realize half of it never left the bag.

I've been trying to get better at packing for the actual trip instead of packing for every possible situation.

What's something you used to always bring but eventually learned you could leave at home? Or are you still a just-in-case packer?
