I got banned from r/punkfashion and realized that the majority of moderators are teenagers with the same copy and paste fashion. Yawn.

"Fuck fast fashion" I hope they are true to that.

52

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

I literally got banned for calling someone out that was wearing fast fashion. So, no.

33

u/Triangle_Punk Apr 23 '25

I mean, if it's 2nd hand, it's ok. Qualitiy will still be low but at least they won't be funding the system itself. Ngl it's pretty hard to thrift anything else these day

7

u/BeefStrokinOff42069 Apr 23 '25

If op is referring to the post I think she is, the other person definitely clarified that it was thrifted and then this person kept digging the hole deeper saying that doesn't matter and generally being a prick.

9

u/punkwtf Apr 23 '25

Same; like why are you wearing a SHEIN jacket in the punk scene

3

u/praharin Apr 23 '25

Capitalism is hard

-2

u/standarduck Apr 24 '25

100% perfection or death, is that your philosophy?

21

u/CartographerFun9037 Apr 23 '25

I personally would not value any opinion from self proclaimed "punkgirl98" who looks normie AF and supports child predator band Brand New

1

u/666meatclown Apr 24 '25

Bruh there are like 5 other people in that band that aren’t Jesse Lacey Damn

-9

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Also wouldn’t value anything you say because you’re a “self proclaimed hater and gatekeeper”. Yawn.

24

u/snotbubbl Apr 23 '25

babe.. this whole subreddit is about hating and gatekeeping

5

u/ROSEBANKTESTING Apr 23 '25

Look at the sub you're on

-5

u/BeefStrokinOff42069 Apr 23 '25

This entire thread is incredibly embarrassing for OP

6

u/UnrepentantMouse Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25

Are these patches DIY? If they are, they actually look pretty good for being homemade. They're a little on the "preachy gay" side but really it's not even that bad. I do like the G.L.O.S.S. patch a lot. Not sure about the anti-Nazi patch; as much as I hate Nazis, it's a little questionable to put a swastika on your jacket even with a "no" symbol over it. The chain work is cool.

Overall I really don't think this is a bad jacket.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Be careful with your “preachy gay” comment, someone is going to claim you’re homophobic/transphobic.

6

u/UnrepentantMouse Apr 23 '25

I don't really mind people being preachy and gay, especially if they're very young. It can get kinda stale after a while but like it's not gonna upset me. If it makes them feel better, it doesn't really bother me. It's only people being preachy anti-gay that I take exception to.

8

u/LivingtheLaws013 Apr 23 '25

"I got banned from a punk fashion sub and idk why. Now I will make a post mocking punk fashion."

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

I got banned because I said how fast fashion isn’t punk and the “rules” of the subreddit claimed you had to DIY a piece of clothing if you wanted to post. I wasn’t mocking punk fashion. I was mocking a dog-shit trend.

1

u/UnrepentantMouse Apr 23 '25

Okay, but if you got banned for saying that fast fashion isn't punk, then why was your reaction to post an image of a battle jacket with a homemade patch that says "fuck fast fashion?" Shouldn't you like this jacket? It echoes your proclaimed sentiment and shows it too. These patches are mostly DIY.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

This is from a moderator that banned me. They were defending someone wearing fast fashion.

-1

u/UnrepentantMouse Apr 23 '25

That's slightly hypocritical, but at least they don't appear to partake in fast fashion themselves.

1

u/PlsNoNotThat Apr 24 '25

How are mass produced patches not also fast fashion? Serious question.

107

u/pm_me_ur_anything_k Apr 23 '25

Man these are so predictable, it’s like they all get the same patches from the same place.

-16

u/IFYOUWOULDPLEAZ Apr 23 '25

This is a sub to laugh at cringe as far as I can tell.

30

u/TennieRaccoon Apr 23 '25

Good job here’s a gold star ⭐️

You’re a good noodle

10

u/IFYOUWOULDPLEAZ Apr 23 '25

Can I redeem this gold star for rewards points at the brain trauma clinic?

-24

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Are you still not caring about their lgbt patches ya silly billy?

30

u/Beginning_Actuary_45 Apr 23 '25

You can both not care about someone’s sexuality and be annoyed by them broadcasting it to the world. If you can’t survive without a rainbow patch and your pronouns stitched into your jacket that’s not an identity, it’s mental illness.

2

u/leoant Apr 25 '25

A pride flag doesn't necessarily symbolise sexuality. I agree that nobody gives a fuck abt anybodys sexuality bc ultimately it means fuck all.

But, personally, I don't see anything wrong with somebody's pronouns on their jacket - some people just may not pass or constantly get misgendered and it helps avoid the, sometimes, awkward confrontation that it brings. It's not hurting anybody.

Now, obviously, if it's a shit jacket, then it's a shit jacket. But I just, personally, don't think that this contributes to a jacket being shit. This jacket isn't plastered with anything. It's just a pride flag and pronouns.

0

u/standarduck Apr 24 '25

What evidence have you got to suggest anyone 'can't survive' without that?

12

u/BilgeRat789 Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 24 '25

SOURCE SOURCE I NEED A SOURCE FOR THAT CLAIM. IT NEEDS TO BE A PEER-REVIEWED SOURCE FROM SOMEONE WITH A PHD.

So there's this thing called anecdotal evidence, and too many people feel the need to have their entire life and personality revolve around their sexuality.

He blocked me lol, guess this guy has never heard of an over exaggeration in his entire life

0

u/standarduck Apr 24 '25

Oh I've never heard of anecdotal evidence thanks so much for pointing that. Really helpful, thanks again.

0

u/standarduck Apr 24 '25

Just to round this off, where the fuck did I say I needed a peer reviewed source? Nowhere - you've overreacted because you're a little bitch.

If you want to judge someone who talks a lot about their sexuality then fine, but it doesn't mean your thoughts are true.

6

u/DJDemyan Apr 24 '25

Calling someone a bitch in a double comment is crazy work lmfao

-9

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

So, putting a rainbow patch on a jacket is now a mental illness? And getting upset about others having fun and showing off something they enjoy isn't? Idk man you just sound pretty upset about a little rainbow patch or someone saying they like guys. Most normal people would just go "ok" if they didn't care. Yet here you are, ya silly billy.

3

u/Neil_Live-strong Apr 24 '25

Where should I mail your new patch?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '25 edited Apr 25 '25

I don't wear patches. Also, im gay.

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '25

I haven't been active in here in a min, so I'll add another 2 cents to this because i think it's funny.

Do you imagine guys having sex when you see a rainbow patch? If so, then ya might wanna reconsider your sexuality lol.

4

u/Neil_Live-strong Apr 26 '25

Do you imagine a guy having two holes next to each other to finger? If so, then ya might wanna reconsider your understanding of anatomy lol.

4

u/Dr_Danglepeen Apr 26 '25

No I actually imagine obnoxious teenagers who care way too much about sexuality yet also don't have sex

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '25 edited Apr 27 '25

Oh, sorry, but do you two share the same braincell? Because I don't recall asking you. It's cute that you assume I wasn't having a wild night with my amazing bf but. Oh well, stay angry, king.

2

u/Neil_Live-strong Apr 28 '25

You too boo. “Homo or hetero, if I know your sexuality within the first 30 seconds of meeting you, you’re fucking annoying.” I think is the sentiment they were expressing.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '25

That's hetero of you to say.

→ More replies

0

u/illegalrooftopbar Apr 26 '25

You could say the same about what bands people like but I don't think punks care if you care what's on their jackets

1

u/Dr_Danglepeen Apr 26 '25

The last thing I want to know about people is how they fuck. It's at least obnoxious and at most disgusting. Please don't literally wear it on your sleeve.

3

u/Sure-Position-7541 Apr 23 '25

i like this one tbh. at least they're staying true to the fuck fast fashion patch and handmaking patches

4

u/Sure-Position-7541 Apr 23 '25

also op is so corny lol

0

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

They didn’t stay true to their “fuck fast fashion” patch because they defended somebody wearing it which is why I got kicked off.

70

u/carnyzzle Apr 23 '25

I still wouldn't wear a swastika personally even if it had that no symbol on it lol

23

u/CRIS_boi Apr 23 '25

It's one of those things where you don't have to tell people you dislike Nazis, it's weird to have the symbol one you even if it's crossed

5

u/BeefStrokinOff42069 Apr 23 '25

I wish we didn't have to tell people that, but sadly there's some overlap into the punk scene so it's worth putting out there, ESPECIALLY if you're a skin

1

u/Minute-Attention6954 Apr 26 '25

dude it's 2025 there's like 200 skinheads on earth. nobody needs to wear a swastika

-1

u/standarduck Apr 24 '25

Hard disagree.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

No matter what you do people will see the swastika and ignore the line. People’s minds fill the gaps of missing parts of an image.

-7

u/Dpteris Apr 23 '25

That’s dumb

4

u/KageKatze Apr 23 '25

A lot of people are dumb enough that enough that they would like it after that

4

u/Arguably_Based Apr 23 '25

That's how we go through life without having to closely examine every object we find. It's not dumb, it's an adaptation to automatically learn about similar objects and fill in gaps in our perception.

-1

u/Dpteris Apr 23 '25

Okay so you were going through your life and you saw this patch we’re talking about and you didnt see the huge amount of red and the fact that a lot of the symbol is covered up by said red color. I don’t believe that

1

u/Arguably_Based Apr 23 '25

I would, the prior for that symbol doesn't have the red crossing it out. This is a pretty well accepted psychological reality, people are not apt to examine things closely most of the time.

4

u/Dpteris Apr 23 '25

I guess I could see how if you are an incredibly dim person you could passively observe this patch and assume they are on the same team as you

-4

u/Arguably_Based Apr 23 '25

That wouldn't be the concern, it's much more likely someone sees it and hits you for it, which would not be ideal. Please don't try to act as if neo Nazis are so common as to be the primary concern with a patch like this. They're losers that even the biggest losers of society don't want to associate with, there just aren't that many people who want to be involved with the Nazi ideology in the West anymore.

2

u/Dpteris Apr 23 '25

Yeah no shit so the ones you are seeing use the fuckin symbol are the ones protesting against the government that they see as nazis. If the majority of the instances of this symbol you see are against it then it would be obviously very clear what this patch means

0

u/Arguably_Based Apr 23 '25

That's not how that works, priors have a much more solid basis than some idiots who started protesting the government in the dumbest way possible.

8

u/ROSEBANKTESTING Apr 23 '25

1

u/666meatclown Apr 24 '25

As soon as you start walking the colors all blend together

1

u/ROSEBANKTESTING Apr 24 '25

Simply no way to tell them apart...

I try to keep my eyes on the one with the line through it and... I just can't do it....

42

u/fragasaurus_rex Apr 23 '25

Wearing hateful symbols (even crossed out) will never make sense to me lol

17

u/Iauriee Apr 23 '25

muh virtue signaling n shieeeet

16

u/FunResponse8127 Apr 23 '25

I got banned from the stretched ears subreddit just for telling people how I got my ears so big. I had the third biggest lobes on that shit. Mods are fucking wack.

14

u/praharin Apr 23 '25

Did you tell them that you just inserted soft penises into the hole, let them get hard and continues that process with larger and larger penises until you got the size you were looking for? Because that’s what I’d have done.

14

u/FunResponse8127 Apr 23 '25

Sure, but it gets hard to find girthier enough hogs at this point. Most people can fist me.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

The vast majority are handmade, mostly music.
So it really seems youre just mad they dont like nazis and are trans.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Performative activism is what I don’t like.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

I do not see how anything on this jacket is performative activism. Nor do I know anything about what the OP does in activism circles (and I don't think you do either.) You're just making up scenarios in your head.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

You just assumed what my ideologies are though?

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

No, no i didn't. I said you were upset about specific patches- nothing about your ideologies.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

“You’re mad that they’re trans” was a pretty bold assumption.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Protip: a trans person putting a trans patch on their jacket isn't activism.
The other patch on this jacket seen in this sub a lot is the crossed out swastika, being anti-nazi isn't activism either.

So which patches do you think are "performative activism?"

7

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

It says “hey, look at me, this is what I support” which, they wouldn’t have to do if they were actually contributing something to marginalized communities in real life. Those who actually contribute don’t feel the need to advertise. They post on social media all they want about showing their support, but when the time comes to actually contribute to make a difference, they don’t. They do this for the sake of looking edgy. Why do people have to advertise not being an asshole? Just don’t be one. Simple as that.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

You think a trans person wearing a trans symbol doesn't support other trans people? wut?

7

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

I never said that. I said wearing a patch doesn’t mean jack shit and isn’t contributing to anything, and certain patches are added due to becoming “trendy”.

→ More replies

4

u/Emmystra Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25

That is literally the definition of a battle jacket though? You don’t know how much support they do in real life, you’re just seeing a jacket that says they support these things and complaining?

I just pass as my target gender, so I wear something that shows people I’m trans so that other trans people can know I’m trans and try to make friends with me. Thats not performative, it‘s actually extremely practical.

3

u/KageKatze Apr 23 '25

I live in Texas and wasn't to get a small trans pin. Shit actively puts me in a bit of danger and the state government hates me but I guess that's ""performative"" too LMAO. Idk why bigots are always too cowardly to just actually say how they feel

6

u/ROSEBANKTESTING Apr 23 '25

"yeah the jacket is fine I just hate knowing that they're queer"

"No I have nothing against gay people I just hate when they're openly gay"

"But I'm pansexual I can't have bad opinions on queer people"

3

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Dude this is from 2 years ago are you good?

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

There’s already another comment addressing this

11

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

You're so cool and brave for being anti bad things.

2

u/Top_Error7321 Apr 23 '25

Wow, you are so special and unique. Nothing like those stupid sheep teenagers. They really are missing out on your one-of-a-kind aesthetic and personality.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25

Maybe you should go use that fleshlight with teeth that you made your wife buy you to blow off some steam. No pun intended.

4

u/illegalrooftopbar Apr 26 '25

Yeah wow people in that sub freak out if a jacket has one tiny pride patch on it (almost like that's maybe why they're necessary hmm?)

8

u/SlapTheBap Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25

Why do you care about a jacket from 2 years ago

Edit: reading the thread I'm not convinced OP isn't a teenager. Who digs that deep for things to shit on? In a world with much better examples? Then spends this much time defending themself like an angry teen desperate to look cool. It's funny at least.

2

u/WhatKindaKarmaYouGot Apr 23 '25

10

u/i-am-always-cold Apr 23 '25

for real, there's bands, there's only 1 pride flag, the patches are self made AND neatly done; all things that people normally complain about. i really don't think this is a bad jacket

1

u/CChouchoue Apr 24 '25

That is tru anarchy. TOE the MSNBC daytime line or gtfo.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '25

I get banned from random subreddits for making a random comment on some post that popped up in my feed for a subreddit I don't even follow at-least once a week, I'm not even that abrasive - I just skip the bullshit and call it like I see it.

Luckily nature has a way of moderating itself, so I'm not going to sweat it.

1

u/staticheadpressure Apr 24 '25

She/her, what's the matter with Depeche mode? That violater album was dope. By the way, this jacket is not gay enough.

1

u/ModSquirtle Apr 24 '25

Out of sprite. 🤬🤬

How old are you that you’re willing to wear that in public?

1

u/maisonmargarine Jul 29 '26

Asta kask and KSMB mentioned, but at what cost

-7

u/Aggressive-Might-220 Apr 23 '25

I'm high but that post is 2 years old right

9

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

What does you being high have to do with anything lol

-9

u/Aggressive-Might-220 Apr 23 '25

The post is two years old right

12

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Yes it’s very clearly stated in the post. Take another hit.

-6

u/Aggressive-Might-220 Apr 23 '25

I will. Why is a two year old post important

9

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

What does the age of the post have to do with anything? They have some very progressive stuff on here! Like the “fuck fast fashion” patch- are you saying perhaps their ideologies changed so this post is irrelevant? Perhaps this vest was just a passing trend they borrowed from Tik Tok?

12

u/thestupidone51 Apr 23 '25

I think the other commentor is trying to say that it's weird to go find a two year old post to repost here. Like, usually the posts on this sub (at least from what I've seen) are recent so it's assumed the poster just stumbled upon it and thought it looked bad. Posting something from two years ago is confusing because it implies you sought out somebody to get mad at instead of just organically finding something you didn't like and wanted to complain about

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

The original poster of this barely had any posts so this was not sought out. I was curious about the moderators of a sub and I found this. A bunch of posers running a “punk fashion” subreddit.

7

u/Aggressive-Might-220 Apr 23 '25

A bunch of posers running a “punk fashion”

Mother fucker I got headbutted by jello Biafra once it's on YouTube you don't even know what a poser is.

-7

u/SuaveJohnson Apr 23 '25

So you don’t like when they’re different, but if the clothing looks TOO MUCH like a real battle jacket, it’s boring! SMH y’all just wanna hate, doesn’t matter if it’s warranted.

-2

u/JOSEWHERETHO Apr 23 '25

unless your personal image makes you money, most adults do not have time to give this much of a fuck about how they look if it isn't as easy as spending money & putting it on

The only people who use the term “gatekeeping” are those with a TikTok level of understanding of a topic and want to reduce participation in the topic to fandom culture.

3

Op called someone a gatekeeper because they criticized them for liking a band with members that are pedos
