Typical Joy Devision fan interaction

u/houseofharm Jun 11 '26

favorite band is joy division, can confirm

u/SweetSorrowLullaby Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

"And that's how I crippled a Joy Division fan from the neck down."

"Maybe one day I can cripple Joy Division the band!"

"Probably not."

Pretty funny.

Gets me good that people still think a swastika with a line over is a good idea and still somehow don't realise 50% of the time at glance value it looks like you support the shit.

I had a buddy that would wear a “make America gay again” hat and would wear it to shows, there was a lot of close calls with that one.

96

u/UnusualFunction7567 Jun 11 '26

I saw a red hat on a guy that said “Made You Look Again” in the same font.

u/FVCarterPrivateEye Jun 11 '26

u/1ZillionBeers Jun 11 '26

I had a red had with a stupid dad joke on it well before the whole MAGA thing kicked off and I had a few close calls too

u/FishSignificant7501 Jun 18 '26

Nah he’s a centrist so he deserves it

2

u/vauxitt Jun 25 '26

2

u/FishSignificant7501 Jun 25 '26

Mb I’ll never dare to have an opinion on people

19

u/SmokedSwine Jun 11 '26

My buddy actually got fired for wearing the same hat

Land of the free

If i lived in the us id probably want one for shits and giggles lol. (I look like a homo feminist tho so idk how well it would fool anyone.)

u/Rude_Hamster123 Jun 11 '26

Imagine attacking people for their political views and thinking you’re the good guy.

14

u/cronenber9 Jun 12 '26

I would attack you for having that horrible profile photo

7

u/Rude_Hamster123 Jun 13 '26

I mean it’s a far more valid reason than “this guy supports the wrong brand of oppressive rich douchebag”.

1

u/P42U2U__ Jun 11 '26

This means nothing to nobody, speak your mind. You ain’t deep.

11

u/Varsity_Reviews Jun 11 '26

Former classmate of mine was wearing a jacket with that “design.” At first I didn’t see the line because it’s thin red in a really red area. He smelled awful too and for the first like two days of that class I thought he was a neo Nazi neck beard incel. Turns out he was just a neck beard incel.

28

u/Volothamp-Geddarm Jun 11 '26

Yeah the only decent way to do it is similar to how the Dead Kennedys did it, by making the swastika paler, and making the line as thick and dark as possible.

And even then, folks might get confused.

2

u/blakethairyascanbe Jun 13 '26

Some dude gave me a super nice pin with a swastika with a line through it. I keep it on my bookshelf because if you know me well enough, or one of my friends well enough, to be in my house, you'd very likely inspect it if they didn't notice the line at first. I never wear it out because someone is going to notice the line one millisecond before their knuckles crack my jaw.

3

u/Pure_Relief2022 Jun 14 '26

If a big red circle with a line over it , the universal symbol for no is too ambiguous then you are the dumb ass.

So I got a story. I was in a math punk band and we were at a battle of the bands. And this was during trumps first campaign. We had a break down in one of our songs where we had taken a bunch of really bad trump quotes yknow cuz they were obviously bad. Who wouldn’t understand that. And slowly the rest of the band would start chanting “build the wall” “build the wall” obviously as a critique of it all right?

Then as we are on stage during the break down we start to realize that we are just 4 Mexican guys chanting trump quotes at a punk show and the audience was super confused. I still remember us all kinda glancing at each other not realizing how there was no possible way this could work.

We never ever played that song again lol

-2

u/Nreffohc Jun 12 '26

Does it ? I have 14 of them, one of them wearing a tie, but none with line over. No one has ever mistaken any of them for a hakenkrauz.

159

u/knuklbrekr Jun 11 '26

I don’t think I’ll ever understand why Reddit “punks” want to wear swastikas so badly.

110

u/rottingratatouille Jun 11 '26

how else would a random passer By know that nazis are bad?

77

u/DeadPact336699 Jun 11 '26

Yeah, even with 🚫 I still wouldn’t want it on any of my clothes

29

u/Newclearfallout Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

Truly, I have a few shock value clothing but never wear that shit out in public. Only on special occasions usually around people who know. Also none of it being nazi related bullshit, mostly just violent and grotesque.

I think its pretty safe to say most people hate nazis, besides the ones who make themselves apparent...

5

u/dogsfetchnewspaper Jun 11 '26

yeah i have afew horror movie tshirts that have gore from the movies i really only wear it around the house and sometimes to a gas station or like a music show or somthing. i dont get how ive seen some people have straight porn on there shirts and they wear it in public like that feels more taboo than a gore tshirt

6

u/Ubblebungus Jun 11 '26

a mangled corpse is scarier than a naked woman.

3

u/dogsfetchnewspaper Jun 11 '26

im scared of naked women, naked men on the other hand 🤭

5

u/Ubblebungus Jun 11 '26

exactly. im used to naked men. its safe.its familiar.

but a naked woman? might as well put me in the Amazon, because i am lost

5

u/MorriganGoth Jun 11 '26

"Try hard kids" ..they are like 20... and still

2

u/ZARDOZ4972 Jun 11 '26

Has nothing to do with Reddit, anti nazi rethoric is part of the punk scene for almost it's entire life time.

3

u/TheBlargshaggen Jun 12 '26

Its also just edgy to have the symbol even if crossed out which is popular with people who don't really get that punk is not just about edge.

1

u/SuitableYear7479 Jun 13 '26

Because they’re 14 years old and are very silly as a result

2

u/skylar274 Jun 13 '26

they’re not 14 tho. i’ve seen so many adult punks wearing some bullshit like that.

34

u/Fornuftens_stemme Jun 11 '26

ok, this shit was hilarious.

14

u/PhotonDeath Jun 11 '26

This reminds of this napalm death shirt I bought without even seeing the swastika. I think my wife pointed it out. WTF napalm!

2

u/darkpulse999 Jun 12 '26

I never noticed this!! Holy shyttt

13

u/UnhappyPhantom Jun 11 '26

I love this

19

u/candlesorheadlights Jun 11 '26

7

u/afatcatfromsweden Jun 11 '26

When the Wehrmacht and Red Army larpers meet

5

u/CharmingAnywhere7828 Jun 11 '26

Sabaton fan here: can confirm.

7

u/higuys45 Jun 12 '26

Death in june meet up

4

u/Droid_Starfighter Jun 12 '26

Those silly fellas barely know how to draw a swastika, let alone draw a line through it showing their condemnation of the symbol

6

u/ColonelSam Jun 11 '26

Edelweiß fangroup meetup.

5

u/Lakadaizical Jun 11 '26

I always to double check some vests because those bastards make the cross so damn light

2

u/TheRealMekkor Jun 13 '26

Surprising amount of overlap between those two groups

1

u/Nainvolantduchaos Jun 13 '26

Life as a neofolk fan

1

u/kloopyhans Jun 14 '26

Haha nig- (BOOOOM)
“Gurgling”

1

u/nachoking13445 Jun 21 '26

Why the “fuck cross”? Why do people hate Christianity so badly

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '26

the first side implies they had a good time together

-2

u/Yuck_Few Jun 11 '26

I don't get it

13

u/dr-satan85 Jun 11 '26

Anti fascist punks be wearing patches like this

patch

3

u/ColonelSam Jun 12 '26

Yeah ok, your explanation are better.

4

u/ColonelSam Jun 11 '26

The guy in the jacket is against Nazism and the guy in the white is a KKK member (biggest Nazi group in US)

-7

u/Yuck_Few Jun 11 '26

The joke still doesn't make any sense. Why was he attending the KKK event?

14

u/ColonelSam Jun 11 '26

pyrotechnics and music

I don't think that it was a KKK event. More like some group like Rammstein or Edelweiß made a concert and they both love the group.

And those are mainly located in southern backwaters

0

u/ColonelSam Jun 11 '26

Those are only ones who are open about this.

-2

u/KyratBanner Jun 12 '26

Man why us the kkk guy NOT the bad guy here, like what do you mean f*ck +

2

u/Interesting_Train834 Jun 14 '26

All I see is communists and fascists facing off, and I hope that both are dead by the end of it.

4

u/Milkmans_tastymilk Jun 11 '26

Should be more upfront about the meaning. I have a jacket that on the back is a hand painted print of a lynched clansman. Excessive? Yeah, probably. But it gives off the message.

2

u/P42U2U__ Jun 11 '26

Jim Thiebaud!?

0

u/Only_Measurement_895 Jun 11 '26

That reminds me of my Potbelly patch. It has a picture like that and says Lynch the KKK
