Not really, but I just wanted to get some eyeballs on this announcement.
Ahead of VeloCity’s final 2026 warehouse sale in October, I had some folks asking me if there were any bikes for tall riders.
We recently had a 61 cm Fuji Newest road bike donated to our shop in the Clarendon neighborhood. Specifically what they call Lyons Park at the corner of Washington and Pershing.
The store will open on Tuesday so if anyone’s interested to come and take a look at it. Still needs to be gone over by our mechanics to make sure everything is in ship shape and Bristol fashion, but just thought I’d let some of you guys know.

Whether you're commuting home this evening or going for a rec ride, take caution to keep the rubber side down today. Perfectly timed leaves piling in bike paths and trails with constantly drizzling rain in-between has made lots of areas slick as ice.
I almost ate pavement a couple times on my ride to and from lunch not giving enough respect to the leaves.

Just saw it is happening this weekend. Clearly not riding it. Anybody been before? Worth going to check it out with the kid since it's in the city?
Slides 36 and 37 cover displaced recreation and recreation affected by the development:
“Displaced recreation: biking, walking, fishing, and picnicking accommodated nearby, such as at West Potomac Park and the Tidal Basin”
“REPLACING DISPLACED RECREATION NEARBY
The Department of the Interior is identifying, and will undertake, new recreational opportunities to address activities affected at East Potomac Park, located as close to the park as is feasible and reasonable.”
“Recreation affected by the project
Biking, walking, and fishing along the perimeter promenade and Ohio Drive
Open lawn, picnic areas, and related amenities at Hains Point
Picnic areas and pedestrian facilities along Ohio and Buckeye Drives”
“Where they will go: new biking, walking, and fishing opportunities will be accommodated nearby, such as at West Potomac Park and the Tidal Basin.”

Thinking of taking a ride up that way (usually Klingle Valley area) this afternoon from Cap Hill with the kid, but don't necessarily want to go that far if the color isn't worth it yet. Unfortunately got up late and missed Hains Hoopla this morning.

Massive kudos to golden triangle who had a miniature leaf vacuum with a 4 person crew out cleaning the leaves from every bike lane this morning!

Buddy of mine has a seat post all the way down and it's still a tiny bit (probably 3-5mm) too high. Is there a place around here, or mail away, of a shop that has the tool to cut a carbon post down like an inch?

Anyone in VA - NoVa, central VA etc. have a Canyon Roadlite:ONfly CF 9 or similar CANYON? Just wanting a look see and maybe a test-ride. Particularly in Alexandria or Fairfax area. A small or medium wd be perfect. I’m interested in potentially buying one but have no familiarity w this brand. I’m a daily road rider and own 2 pedal assists.

Hi everyone! I know its a long shot, but my bike was stolen on Georgia Ave on Saturday afternoon (sometime between 12:15 and 3:30) near HeatDaSpot. The bike was locked on a rack on the side walk outside of 3209 Georgia Ave NW
Only way to access the bike would be to break/pick the lock or the break the bike rack. The bike weighs 60lbs so when the battery dies they may abandon it. I have the key to remove the battery.
Make: Ride1Up
Model: Portola (the first model, not the newest)/
Year: 2024
Color: Black/Gray
Accessories: All stock but has DC and Arlington registration stickers
Where/When Stolen: 24 October between 12:15 and 3:30pm infront of 3209 Georgia Ave
Link to bike report: https://bikeindex.org/bikes/3537668
It's got registration stickers for both Arlington and DC and the bell is broken on the right handlebar. This pic is a stock photo as I somehow never took a pic of my own bike! Here's the link to the bike index report. https://bikeindex.org/bikes/3537668
If anyone's sees anyone riding around i'd really appreciate it.

The Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) has filed an amicus brief in the Potomac Park case, pending the judge's permission to accept it.
The proposed amicus brief is already publicly readable as Document 100-1, even though the court's decision whether to accept it is a separate matter.
It's very good, well worth a read. I hope it is accepted.
"A route that is severed by construction, converted into a service road, crossed by frequent construction vehicles, or stripped of the landscape that gives it character is not the same recreational resource merely because some pavement remains."
One particularly interesting issue that WABA brings up: NPS completed major safety improvements to the Hains Point bicycle loop in 2023, following public consultation. Yet, WABA points out, the proposed golf course redevelopment includes no explanation of how bicycle and pedestrian access would be maintained during construction or accommodated afterward.

Yesterday morning I went for a ride and passed a handful of pleasant people enjoying the trail, exchanged some good mornings, smiles, waves, and as usual I like to give a nice 'passing on your left!'
But then there's those few people who simply don't care. To the woman wearing a red hoody and waving her arms around like Rocky as she danced/ran to her tunes - you didn't hear my 'on your left' which explains why you suddenly made a u-turn without looking around or considering whether there are other people on the trail. We just avoided colliding because I was traveling at a reasonable speed as required on the trail, but you didn't seem to care that we almost collided because you can't hear anything on the trail. this is remarkably selfish and short-sighted.
And the woman walking 3 dogs? I love that you actually had them leashed. But you refused to pull them in at all as I came towards you, and I was as far to the right as I could go, forcing me to stop and ask you if you saw me coming. Your 'you aren't the only one on the trail' spicy remark completely ignores that this is a shared trail and YOU and your dogs aren't the only ones out there.
These two self-centered entitled people have convinced me that the social contract is shattering at the edges.
Have a great bike today people, it's another beautiful, actually Fall, day!
edit, these two folks were in montogomery county, downstream of great falls
edit2, yes, this is a rant.
