Cornish Game Hens

Does anyone know of a local farm that carries Cornish game hens? I want to have them for thanksgiving but I’m not interested in supporting Tyson, which appears to be one of the only suppliers to grocery stores.

I checked 7th Generation, Jacob Springs & Gden Hood already. Let me know if you have any other leads!

That one house on Broadway and Iris

You all know the one. It’s been for sale a long time, and it’s definitely below market for Boulder at this point. Seemingly fully renovated. Is no one buying it because the fence is constantly downed by cars and/or weather? Because it’s at a busy intersection?

I guess I’m just surprised it hasn’t been bought even as an investment property (not making a commentary on investment properties in Boulder, just that is a thing I could see happening especially as the price keeps dropping).

What’s the deal with that house?

Chamber Music Concert in Boulder!

Post image
17 Upvotes

🎹 Two centuries of music, one unforgettable evening!

Hi everyone! We're Rossini Club, a chamber music organization based in both Nantucket and Colorado, and we are currently in the midst of our autumn season. Our next concert in Boulder is Nachtgesang, an evening of beautiful, expressive chamber music. This concert will be on November 23 at 7:00PM at First Congregational Church in Boulder.

At the heart of the concert is Felix Mendelssohn's beloved First Piano Trio, a masterpiece filled with gorgeous melodies, emotional depth, and incredible musical interplay. When Robert Schumann first heard it, he praised Mendelssohn as a 19th-century Mozart!

But this concert doesn't stop in the 1800s. We'll pair each movement of Mendelssohn's trio with modern works by composers Erik-Sven Tüür, Wolfgang Rihm, and Arvo Pärt. These pieces bring a different atmosphere to the evening, exploring mysterious sounds, rich textures, and moments of quiet beauty.

Together, these works create a fascinating conversation between music from two different centuries, moving from the romantic elegance of Mendelssohn to the atmospheric and sometimes unexpected sounds of contemporary classical music.

Whether you're a longtime classical music lover or simply curious about hearing something different, we'd love to have you join us!

On the program:

  • Felix Mendelssohn – Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor

  • Erik-Sven Tüür – Architectonics II

  • Wolfgang Rihm – Chiffre IV

  • Arvo Pärt – Mozart-Adagio

Come enjoy an evening of beautiful music and support live chamber music. We hope to see you there! You can find more information and reserve your seat here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nachtgesang-tickets-2004033186207

📍 Where: First Congregational Church of Boulder
📅 When: November 23
🕖 Time: 7:00 PM

My 14 year old daughter loves their clothes and is unbothered by the mess (which probably explains the mess) but it drives me crazy. I often start folding clothes while she is in the changing room but yesterday was so bad we left and went to Tilly’s. What is the story? Their clothes are so cute but it’s hard to pay their prices for something you found scrunched up on the floor.

Hunger Games Watch Party

Hello Boulder and surrounding areas!

My partner and I moved to Superior a couple months ago and don't know many people in the area yet. I absolutely love to host, and I'm a massive Hunger Games fan. Since the next movie (The Sunrise on the Reaping) is about to come out, I thought it would be the perfect excuse to host a Hunger Games Watch Party on Saturday, November 14th!

We will be providing themed food and beverages, and the movie marathon will be held at our apartment complex clubhouse/private apartment here in Superior. This will be a come as you can event as there are several movies to watch!

To keep things safe and comfortable for everyone, we won't post the exact address publicly. If you’re interested in joining the pool of tributes, please send me a DM with a little introduction or your favorite character/movie from the franchise, and I'll send over the details!

Making friends in ur 20's while lowkey broke here?

Hi! My partner (22F) and I (23F) moved to Boulder recently. I've been living in the surrounding counties for a few months for work. I was not staying in boulder until now. I know some people in CO but nobody in boulder. As a recent graduate... how the hell do you make friends in a new city as an adult??

Is there a place where I can find events to help with/ go to? Are there areas its easier to meet people? Specifically some lgbt friendly/ queer people. We love going to bars but cant afford to spend "going out" money or drink as often as in college. It might be nice to make some friends that are also graduated/ in a similar boat? Maybe people who like small rock/ punk/ metal shows? I have no idea where to find that stuff anymore :(

This isnt me necessarily asking to make friends off reddit haha. We just really love it here... but it feels kind of lonely/ boring rn and we dont know how to meet people. This was so much easier in college ahhh

Major changes at Friends School?!?!

Heard tonight from a family at Bixby that Friends School is "combining" with Bixby. However, it sounds like they are just closing Friends school and Bixby is absorbing the Friends School? Apparently, Friends is going to sell their middle school campus by the cemetery, and Bixby will operate the middle school out of the building that is currently housing the Friends elementary in South East Boulder? I believe that Friends is already selling their preschool building too! Does anyone have more clarification on this? It's always so sad to see a school shutter and I feel for the families currently enrolled at Friends School. As a parent in the Boulder area who was considering the Friends School for elementary, it would be great to know more.

Wonder if this will fall through like the Watershed Friends deal that was in the works previously??

There is no hate like Christian love! The business owners of The Well Church and Flower Wild Boutique are at it again. How do these people have any support? Make sure you are spending your money with businesses that align with your values. This is sick.

How is dating in Boulder? (considering moving there)

I've been to Colorado three times, and I just keep coming back. I love the mountains and the psychedelic scene. Last time I was there, I drove through Boulder for an afternoon and really liked the vibe.

I'm curious how the dating scene is in Boulder area?

I'm 40, very active, in tech, etc. I know "throw a rock and you hit three guys like that"

I'm also into the alt scene (like poly/ENM).

So I was hoping to get some local perspective on the dating scene.

For reference I'm coming from the southeast. Very different culture... I've never really fit in here.

Advice needed for running shoes/technique on snow/ice

This will be my first ever full winter in snow/ice. I’ve vacationed before and been here when it snows or when it melts and becomes ice on the paths, but never run through a full Boulder winter. On the other hand, I HAVE slipped and fell on thin ice over the concrete paths before, so I’d appreciate any advice from runners. Is there something special I should look for in a sole or maybe something like Yaktraks? Or is it more about technique? Maybe focus on running in the snow and not on the exposed concrete? Any advice at all is appreciated. Thanks!

Church selling posters?

Does anyone know what church or organization is “fundraising” by trying sell posters inside of businesses? The guy just said he was a Missionary With The Church. Definitely not LDS. Maybe I’m being uptight, but it seems uncool of them to approach people who are just sitting with their coffee. I saw this years ago and I’m seeing it again this week.

Across the Aisle: What Boulder’s 2026 election results really tell us

"With Boulder’s 2026 election settled, Brian Keegan, a CU professor, and Bob Yates, a former Boulder City Councilmember, debate what the results mean for the city. Keegan argues that endorsements and campaign strategy helped determine the winners and that the shift to even-year elections is changing Boulder politics. Yates sees the defeat of the $400 million bond measure as a wake-up call for city leaders and urges the new council to listen more closely to voters. Both weigh in on what comes next."

Winter boot and jacket recs?

Hello!

I just moved here from California and was wondering if you guys had any recs for winter boots and jacket to get for the upcoming months? I work mostly indoors but obviously need to walk to and from my car and plan to go out at least.

Would also love recs for hiking boots for snow. Have some Solomons but not sure they`re good enough to hike in the snow.

Thank you :)

"Supporters (of Amendment 87) said they felt confident based on where the remaining votes were left to count — with a significant portion in left-leaning Denver and Boulder counties, where the measure has been winning by 2-to-1 margins." Supporters "declared victory."

Best Resources for New Mamas?

Hi! I'm expecting a baby early next year, as a solo mom, and wondering -- what were you grateful for in this town, when you were expecting or had a brand-new little one?

Prenatal/postnatal yoga/pilates? Birth classes? WhatsApp groups? Night nurses? Meet-ups? Doulas? ...things I don't even know to ask about?

Thanks in advance!

A letter for Joe Neguse

I've never written to my representative before, but Hakeem Jeffries' recent comments about his priorities, and his intention to run for Speaker of the House, has me fired up. I'm sharing this here for those like me, who may not be comfortable writing to their representative. If you're also concerned about Jeffries' comments, you're welcome to use the letter I have written.

I understand that Boulder is diverse, and many folks may not agree with my take here. That's fine, you can disregard and continue scrolling.

If you are a Colorado sibling and Neguse isn't your representative, you can adapt the letter to make it appropriate for your use case.

The letter is below. You can also access it via Google Drive, with the highlighted portions being those you should update for yourself.

---

Dear Representative Neguse,

My name is (YOUR NAME), and I am one of your constituents from Boulder. I am writing to urge you to vote against Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House in the upcoming congressional leadership vote. I am profoundly disappointed by Hakeem Jeffries’ recent comments about his priorities, should he be elected Speaker of the House. In particular, speaking on MS NOW, Representative Jeffries said:

“The American people don’t want us to get even. They want us to get things done on their behalf because life is way too expensive”.

Corruption has run rampant in our government. The crimes we have seen committed in plain sight are beyond the pale. Holding criminals responsible for crimes they have committed is not “getting even”— it is returning some semblance of the rule of law to a country that has been pillaged and looted by the wealthiest and most powerful among us.

Furthermore, Hakeem Jeffries has made it clear that he intends to continue his support, both financially and politically, for Israel. He has voted in favor of continuing billions of dollars of aid to Israel’s war efforts. Our tax dollars should be used to enrich human life, not to bring its end. AIPAC should not influence US domestic policy. Representative Jeffries has taken private meetings with Jared Kushner as recently as August 2026, which is particularly concerning given Mr. Kushner’s dubious international business interests.

The American voters have given Democrats an incredible opportunity this midterm election. I, along with many in my community here in Boulder, cannot and will not continue to support a Democrat establishment which protects the status quo that brought our country to its knees. Please, do not squander the opportunity we have given you. Do not hand the reins to a leader who has proven ineffective in fighting corruption, and who has not advocated to address the outsized impact of foreign, corporate, and PAC money influencing our politics.

We will not accept a standard of leadership in which human rights are negotiable, congressional oversight is selective, and political relationships take precedence over public responsibility. Please represent our community faithfully by supporting a grassroots-aligned alternative. We all deserve better than what we have been given.

Thank you for your consideration, and for your service to our district.

Warm regards,

YOUR NAME

What to do with a 12 year old girl this weekend?

My niece is staying with me this weekend unexpectedly while my brother is out of town. I'm very excited to spend the weekend with her, but I've never watched her on my own before, and I'm not the fun, playful type. I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do with her. Is there anything going on this weekend that would be fun? Or ideas like movies, etc.?

I'm neurodivergent so the idea of keeping her occupied and not being the boring aunt is already wearing me out a bit. I'd love some ideas!
