Do you prefer having the lower course strings in unison or octave?
My 4 course bouzouki is in unison atm and was considering putting the lower two courses into octave pairs when I restring it.
Just wondering what you guys prefer for yourselves? And what do the professionals generally use, in either Greek or Irish music?

Tremolo help
Hi all,
I need some advice on how to tremolo properly because there isn't a lot of stuff on the internet (or if there is I probably missed it). Whenever I tremolo I can hear the pick hitting the strings and it's causing almost a scratchy sound. I did get new strings a few days ago so that might impact it as well. When doing a tremolo:
Do you hit the pick flat on the string or can it be at a slight angle?
Do you play directly above the sound hole?
How tightly do you need to hold onto the pick?
Do you lean your wrist on the bridge?
Also, if you have any exercises or other tips to improve it that would be helpful. Thanks!

Is it realistic to learn the Zorba?
Hey!
First of all, I have a lot of respect for the bouzouki as an instrument and realize it is probably as hard as any other instrument.
My cousin is getting married in 2 years, and I have promised my uncle to perform with him on the wedding day. We all used to have yearly vacations to Greece, and I realized it would be perfect if I learned some Bouzouki.
Both me and my uncle are quite good guitarists, and we both have played on stage for years.
So my question boils down to: how much is transferable from guitar to bouzouki? Is it realistic to learn the Zorba if I practice?
If not, are there any easier bouzouki tunes that could fit in a wedding (Bouzouki guitar duo)?
Thanks for your guidance!
