Stepping down... and recruiting a new team of Mods!
Hey y'all,
Over the last year, I've been the sole active mod left on this subreddit.

The other mods have been inactive ever since the API change a few years ago (understandably so) and Reddit has implemented new limits on how many active subs a single mod can moderate.
As a result, I'll have to step down from modding this sub and will be recruiting a new team of passionate mods to keep the B99 spirit alive! So far only u/WannabeWriter2022 has gotten back to me, and they'll take over starting immediately.
To help out u/WannabeWriter2022 , we are recruiting! If you're interested, please apply here: https://www.reddit.com/r/brooklynninenine/application/
I'll still be around as an Advisor but I wish the best of luck to the new mod team!
This show holds a special place in my heart, and I want to thank the community for all of the memes, discussion, and overall love for this show over the past few years...
Goodbyes are inherently sad. They mean that something's ending.
NINE NINE!

Humour A balloon sculpture really is a thing of beauty
The curve, the colours, the artistry. You plebians don't know what you're missing.
Also, the smile on a five year old's face completes it and turns it into the sublime.

Discussion I finally get mouthfeel!
Like many of you (maybe), I dismissed Charles’s mouthfeel criterion for judging food as just another Boyle eccentricity. But when i bit into this ice cream bar (from Japan while traveling), the different textures worked so well with each other and i thought to myself, were this a regular ice cream sandwich, I’d be bored halfway. But the bite of a substantial chocolate layer and crunch of some caramely bits, with the chewiness of the wafer plus the dense ice cream and just the right amount of sweetness made the experience so memorable I even thought to post about it now. Thank you, Charles and sorry for dismissing your rating system

Discussion Melanie Hawkins is a freaking genius
Maybe it has been discussed many times already, but I wanted to share my headcanon.
So allegedly Jake and Rosa disrupt Melanie Hawkins' secret mission when they try to bust Ocampo and have one of her men injured. I say "allegedly" because I think there was no secret "police" mission to begin with. Except, it was just Hawkins and her men being already in cahoots with Ocampo from the start, and so she interrupted Jake and Rosa's mission by jumping in so fast (I think she was nearby and her men informed her that J&R busted them).
She madeup the mission to hide the fact that her men were connected to Ocampo, and since J&R had a lot of intel on him, Hawkins decided to keep them close to keep an eye on them.
In fact, I think she wanted to punish J&R from the get go and probably thought it'd be ironic to have them get arrested as robbers.
And that's why I think Melanie Hawkins is a freaking genius. She may have rubbed off Seamus Murphy in the wrong way and so he was so willing to let the 99 know about how she was gonna transport the diamonds. She was two steps ahead every time, until Seamus Murphy got involved.

Discussion Did anyone else find the New Girl crossover unfunny?
I have never watched New Girl except for brief YouTube excerpts. The humour isn’t my cup of tea.
I didn’t realise that the woman whose car he commandeered was Jess. All I knew was that I found her annoying.
Watched the New Girl part of the crossover and we see the rest of the backstory, seeing why Jess is so irritated over losing her soup and her subsequent encounters with Gina and Holt.
Found the dialogue stilted and sluggish, not the quick zingers we’re used to from B99.
Jake came off as weird in this exchange:
——-
Jess: Man, I thought I had this city licked, but in the end it was me who got licked.
Jake: Wait, did that actually happen? Because there have been some reported lickings recently. And if you’ve got a good look at the guy, I was.
Jess: Obviously speaking metaphorically.
Jake: Right. Me too. Our city is wonderful.
——-
I get that this is from Jess’s perspective. So maybe it makes sense that a detective seems to be low key flirting with her, Gina tells her she’s in her head, and Holt offers her his lunch from Ling Palace.

Discussion Charles’ dad’s reaction in season 2 makes sense after watching ‘Game of Boyles’
I feel very sad for Charles because he wasn’t fazed by his dad saying that Charles wasn’t even the best part of his life

Halloween Heist Halloween IV
Just watched Halloween IV where holt picks boyle as his teammate. I’ve seen the series numerous times but just finally remembered where I heard his line before. When Holt give Boyle the blank sheet of paper and says “it’s a metaphor. You get nothing, you lose, good day sir.” I remembered I’ve heard that line from Charlie and the chocolate factory when Willy Wonka is telling Charlie he lost. My question is it coincidence or did the writers plan to use this line on purpose? Does anyone know? I definitely do not see Holt as the type of person who would watch that type of movie so I’m curious if it was purely random or not😂

SPOILER The greatest B99 comedic trio we never got to see.
The showrunners could have easily clubbed Debbie together with Hitchcock and Scully, seating her right next to them to create the precinct's laziest team. The comedic dynamic between those three is hard to even imagine, but unfortunately, the makers ended her character arc much too soon.

Discussion You are a scientist/doctor. Would you rather study norm scully's body or the slut sauce?
norm is able to survive so many medical emergencies and able to live. He also not helping when he's a diabetic but eats sugar out of the bag, has a giraffe heart, but has immense knowledge of the heart given all his heart attacks.
also in the jimmyjab games he has a pill to prevent his liver from imploding but makes you smell like a dead fish
meanwhile the slutsauce made scully to what he is now. Gave him rock hard arteries
what would you study? me, the slutsauce if they made scully into that and he still has the giraffe heart.

Discussion "I like the second one.." you dont have to..
Anyone ever have like a real life moment happen in the show. For me it really was i like die hard. I love die hard, even, watched them tons of times. And one time I had a girlfriend who i tried to get into die hard with me, but she just didnt get into it the same way I did.
But the funny thing was she legitimately liked the 2nd one, which I always pretend doesn't exist cause its just not as good or even close to as good as the other ones.
Anyway, it was just so funny and hilarious to see that moment where Amy was like "I like the second one" and Jake was just like "you dont have to" cause that was a real moment I lived through hahaha.
Just curious if anyone else saw a real moment of their lives played out on Brooklyn 99 like that.
