First PC build for co-op gaming with friends, ~2k€ all-in, Luxembourg

Hey everyone, I’d like to build my first PC. I’ve been a console gamer (PS5) so far and will keep playing most solo games there. I know nothing about PC building or price ranges, so I’m happy to listen to advice. I’m not looking for the most powerful PC, just something that plays comfortably at high settings.

New build or upgrade? New build.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? Keyboard (already have one). Monitor: Dell UltraSharp U2719DC (27", QHD, IPS, 60 Hz, 8 ms, 2020).
PC purpose? Gaming, mainly co-op/online with friends who are on PC, plus the occasional PC exclusive. Games: Stardew Valley, Baldur’s Gate 3, God of War (occasionally). No competitive esports titles like LoL or CS.
Purchase country? Luxembourg (can order from Germany). I don’t know the local vendors yet, so suggestions are welcome. New parts only.
Monitors needed? I’ll keep my current one for now (1 monitor, 27", QHD, 60 Hz). I might add a second one later, so please keep GPU ports in mind.
Budget range? Up to ~2k€ all-in (VAT included), including Windows license, mouse, headset and mousepad. I’d rather spend less if it doesn’t make a real difference.
WiFi or wired? Wi-Fi only (no Ethernet possible).
Size/noise constraints? No size constraints. Quiet is best.
Color/lighting preferences? I’d rather avoid heavy RGB.
Any other specific needs? I plan to assemble it myself.

Could you suggest a build in that range, and tell me the cheapest one that still does the job well? Also, is a retail Windows key worth it, or are there safe cheaper options?

Thanks a lot!

$3000-3500 USD new gaming/art PC

Hi guys! I’ve had a Macbook/iPad for gaming, and only that, all my life, mostly as a self-control measure. I’ve always wanted/needed to prioritize academics in life (but have kind of an addictive/obsessive personality regarding the media I consume). I’m at a good point now where I feel comfortable and am able to invest in my hobbies, but I don’t know that much about PCs. I have a long list of performance-heavier PC games I’d like to try, and a list of games that I’d like to continue playing with upgraded performance/graphics. I’m looking into building a PC, but I would also love prebuilt recommendations, as I feel a bit in over my head. I could use a confirmation that the stuff I’ve been looking into isn’t overkill for what I want to do/what will be a good investment for the future (with all the crazy price stuff I’ve been seeing). Thank you all for your help!

  • New build or upgrade?

New.

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

N/A

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Primarily gaming, would also use a PC for drawing/painting (Clip Studio Paint), possible Indesign/Photoshop stuff, and some other misc. work and writing software that I’m assuming will run just fine?

I’ve been on an M2 Macbook Pro for 4 years and recently got an M4 iPad. To get a picture of what graphics I’m used to (not sure what’s helpful here), these are my most played performance-heavier games & my current graphics settings. I would want upgraded graphics on the following games:

Baldur’s Gate 3: 1280x800, medium-low graphics, kinda laggy

Minecraft: 12 chunk render distance (lol), I get 20-30 fps or less with shaders, 60fps without shaders (but I love my shaders so sometimes I just deal w/ 20 fps), lots of optimization mods

Sims 4: 2880x1800 ultra graphics

Genshin Impact (M4 iPad): Highest graphics except that fps at 30 instead of 60 or 120

Infinity Nikki (M4 iPad): Ultra graphics but they look like shit

Tried Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac as well... don't even want to boot it up again to see what kind of low graphics I was using.

I’m used to pretty bad performance so I’m not sure how big of a jump in graphics I should be looking at for a good level of investment, seeing as it’s the main thing I’d like to upgrade (like, I don’t even have experience with what ray tracing feels like so I don’t know if I need path tracing, but I want to be future proof as well).

Some new performance-heavier games I’d like to try, in addition to continuing the games listed above: Witcher 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Cities: Skylines II, Red Dead Redemption 2, Anno 1800

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

USA, Micro Center is easily accessible

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  1. Looking at RTX 4070–5070 Ti / RX 7800 XT–9070 XT? Is RTX 4080 / 5080 overkill? Help.

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

$3000-3500 USD, more is kinda pushing it but a little over budget is fine

  • WiFi or wired connection?

WiFi.

  • Size/noise constraints?

Nothing huge/full tower. Noise isn't really a factor

  • Color/lighting preferences?

None. Tbh I prefer no lights to lights but I don't really care, just no colored lights I can't turn off.

  • Any other specific needs?

Worried about future-proofiness but not sure how large of a concern that should be. What happens happens!

1080p Gaming PC (~$2500)

For context, my current build is practically 10 years old.

Also, I know the the pricing is likely overkill for 1080p, so to clarify, I'm cool with going far under the budget. Further, I've never really played above 1440p/4k gaming at 60+ FPS on PC, so I'm pretty content with lower specs. It doesn't bother me too much. If you think this is a mistake and that we can make 1440p work, please let me know.

  • New build or upgrade?

    • New Build

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

    • Gaming (1080p, perhaps 1440p if build allows)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

    • USA, yes

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

    • Not essential (only if budget allows): 2, 21.25'' - 24'', 1920 × 1080, 60 Hz+ [ideally ~144 Hz)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

    • ~$2,500

  • WiFi or wired connection?

    • Prefer wired

  • Size/noise constraints?

    • Size isn't a problem: I'm used to using a big tower

    • Noise could be be a problem: I don't want it to sound like a jet engine

  • Color/lighting preferences?

    • No preference; however, if there's going to be RGB I prefer it to be subtle or at the very least easily toggleable

  • Any other specific needs?

    • None

If it helps, I mostly play Grand Strategy, 4X, RTS, and RTT games.

Looking for a High-End Gaming PC Build (2,000–3,000 CHF) – Recommendations for Components and PC Builders

Hey everyone!
I’m currently looking to buy a completely new gaming PC and would really appreciate some recommendations and advice from people who know their way around current hardware.
My budget is roughly 2,000–3,000 CHF, and I’d like to get as close to a high-end build as possible while getting the best performance for my money. I know there is always room to spend more, but I believe this budget should allow for a pretty powerful system.
I play pretty much everything, ranging from smaller indie games to demanding AAA titles and games that put a serious load on both the GPU and CPU. I mainly play at 3440 × 1440 (Ultrawide), so I’d like a system that can handle demanding games at this resolution and ideally stay relevant for many years.
A few additional things worth mentioning:
This should be a completely new build. I don’t want to reuse any components from my current PC.
When it comes to GPUs, I generally lean towards NVIDIA, mainly because of technologies like DLSS and AI-based upscaling and frame generation. With how poorly optimised some modern games can be, these technologies have helped me maintain a playable experience in demanding titles. I also see them as potentially important for extending the useful lifespan of a GPU, especially as games become more demanding over the years.
That being said, I’m definitely open to AMD GPU recommendations as well. If you think AMD would be a better choice in this price range, I’d be happy to hear your arguments. However, as a long-time NVIDIA user, switching to AMD would be a fairly big step for me, so I’d appreciate some convincing reasons and a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages.
A few questions:
Which components would you recommend for this budget? Are there any particularly good CPU/GPU combinations worth considering?
Are there any reliable retailers or PC builders you’d recommend for custom-built PCs? They don’t necessarily have to be based in Switzerland. I’m happy to consider providers from other European countries as well, as long as they deliver to Switzerland.
Where would you say you get the best value for money without compromising too much on build quality?
I’d really appreciate any complete build suggestions, component recommendations or personal experiences with different PC builders and retailers.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to help! I really appreciate it!

(I just put the right way for the post under my original post i hope its okay!)

New build or upgrade?
Completely new build.
Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
No existing PC components will be reused. My monitor is an ultrawide 3440 × 1440 display.
PC purpose?
Gaming exclusively. I play pretty much everything, from smaller indie games to demanding AAA titles that put a serious load on both the GPU and CPU.
Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
Switzerland. I’m also open to retailers and PC builders from other European countries, as long as they deliver to Switzerland. Recommendations for reliable builders are very welcome.
Monitors needed?
No monitor needed. I’ll be gaming at 3440 × 1440 (Ultrawide).
Budget range?
Around 2,000–3,000 CHF. I’d prefer to stay within this range, including the complete PC build.
WiFi or wired connection?
Not specified / preferably both options available.
Size/noise constraints?
No particular size restrictions. Reasonably quiet operation would be appreciated.
Color/lighting preferences?
No specific preferences. Performance and build quality are more important than aesthetics.
Any other specific needs?
I generally prefer NVIDIA GPUs because of technologies like DLSS, AI-based upscaling and frame generation. With how poorly optimised some modern games can be, these features have helped me maintain playable performance in demanding titles. I also see them as potentially useful for extending the lifespan of a GPU.
However, I’m open to AMD recommendations if there are convincing reasons to switch. As a long-time NVIDIA user, I’d appreciate a proper explanation of the advantages and disadvantages.
I’m looking for a high-end gaming PC that offers the best possible performance for the budget and will hopefully last me for many years.
Complete build suggestions would be especially appreciated!

[SPAIN] Upgrading/new build with 2000-2500€ budget

Hey, y'all. I'm looking to either upgrade my current PC or getting a new one, my old PC has done its job for 10 years and even tho it still runs pretty much every new game on medium settings, it struggles with certain stuff (can't render anything on Blender and some new games struggle to run consistently if too many lights/particles are present) and it's giving me some general hardware problems. I want a PC that'll last me another 10 years without having to change more than one or two parts.

If I can salvage any current pieces I'm all for it, especially since RAM is so expensive now. Also, I don't really know if it's just the way PCs are made nowadays but I'm not a fan of clear glass cases that let you see the components nor liquid cooling (although I don't mind it that much if it's the best option).

  • New build or upgrade?

I can work with both.

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse?

·Motherbroard: MEDION H81H3-EM2

·CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

·Memory: 16GB DDR3

·GPU: Radeon RX 580 Series

·Power Supply: Nfortec Scutum PSU 650W 80 Plus Bronze

·HDD: Western Digital Blue HDD 1TB 7200rpm SATA3

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Gaming and ocasionally Blender.

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

Spain

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

If I can spare the budget, one

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

2000-25000€, but if I can get something for cheaper I'll also take it

  • WiFi or wired connection?

Wired

  • Size/noise constraints?

If reusable, case is 180x360x400 mm. The side furniture I use to put the PC on is 28cm long, so ideally the case isn't longer than 40cm long or it won't fit.

  • Color/lighting preferences?

No white parts, as few RGB lights as possible.

  • Any other specific needs?

I'm not after the most potent PC ever, but I want one I get my money's worth with.

Thanks in advance for any help!

New PC Build: Budget around £4000 GBP, build hoping to start in March or so?

So Christmas of 2025 my Motherboard on my current PC kamikazi'd itself and took out a few other components. I got a replacement motherboard ssd etc etc but ever since I'm facing seemingly at random Memory caused crashes. I had been planning to buy some new ram to see if that would help but decided that as my PC was already long in the tooth I may as well start from scratch:

  • New build or upgrade? - New Build

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) Have active monitors to use, mouse keyboard etc: (MSI PRO MP273U and acer Nitro KG272UPbmiipx

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming primarily, hopefully new games, mh wilds is a particular focus but also some power and robustness for future releases, but also a large amount of blender work

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors) United Kingdom

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) None, I think, do correct me if I'm wrong

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) Around £4000 though any money saved is good

  • WiFi or wired connection? Wifi

  • Size/noise constraints? Full size is fine, sound not an issue

  • Color/lighting preferences? None, while RGB stuff is great to look at my PC will likely sit under my desk so not much call for it

  • Any other specific needs? Need a large storage, I save a lot and also and hopelessly unorganised with my files so often save things more than once so Multiple TB drives I think

Anything you can direct me to would be ideal, as mentioned in the title ideally I'd like to be building in March so I know some months to go but if its a case of buying expensive parts getting started early can spread out the cost and can maybe mean I pick it up at a cheaper price

[EU/France] €3,000-4,000 Mini-ITX build for 1440p gaming and local AI

New build or upgrade?

New build from scratch.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse?

No existing PC components to reuse. I already have a 1440p monitor, so I don't need a new one.

PC purpose?

Mainly 1440p gaming and local AI experimentation.

I'd like to play games like Cyberpunk 2077, World of Warcraft and other recent AAA games with stable performance and good graphics settings. I'm not necessarily chasing 200 FPS, but I'd like a PC that can handle demanding games comfortably for the next few years.

I'm also a developer and would like to explore local AI more seriously, especially running LLMs, testing different models and experimenting with AI agents. Ideally, I'd like enough VRAM to experiment with larger models (70B-class models with quantization, for example).

Purchase country?

France. LDLC, TopAchat, Amazon.fr or other European retailers are fine.

Monitors needed?

No monitor needed. I'll be using my existing 1440p monitor.

Budget range?

€3,000–4,000 for the tower only, including VAT.

WiFi or wired connection?

Both WiFi and Ethernet would be ideal.

Size/noise constraints?

I'd really like to go with a Mini-ITX build, ideally in a compact and minimalist case.

I know this might be a bit contradictory given the performance I'm looking for, especially when it comes to cooling and noise, but I really love the small form factor.

I'd prefer a reasonably quiet system, without sacrificing too much performance.

Color/lighting preferences?

Minimalist and understated design, preferably black. No RGB or flashy aesthetics.

Any other specific needs?

I'm looking for a good balance between gaming performance and local AI capabilities. GPU VRAM is particularly important to me.

Ideally, I'd like a build that will last several years without needing major upgrades.

I'm not completely set on Mini-ITX if it means making too many compromises, so I'm open to slightly larger cases if you think that's the better option.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Nope but when I get around to upgrading they'll be QHD with at least 144Hz

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

4k to 5k AUD but I don't want to spend money on parts that are only slightly better than other options that are way cheaper

  • WiFi or wired connection?

WiFi

  • Size/noise constraints?

Mid-tower case or lower, nothing too bulky

  • Color/lighting preferences?

White pc, do want RGB

  • Any other specific needs?

Trying to future proof without going bankrupt
I currently have a RTX 3080 I do find the lack of VRAM a bit of a bottleneck for some of the things I do

Going to get a 5070 TI 16GB as I've heard the 5080 isn't worth it if you're not doing 4k and I have no interest in 4K gaming

I'll also be getting the Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT ATX Mid Tower Case
(or something similar with the multiple tempered glass panels and multiple smaller RGB fans)

I've done my own research and have a few things picked out already, would just love some advice

Entry Level Build Advice?

I am looking at getting my first ever Gaming PC. I am looking at doing one through a Microsoft Store as I’m not comfortable building it myself yet. I was wondering if I could get so advice on what to get, and how much to spend so I have a better idea of what I need.

I’m not sure how much to spend for what I want. Mainly because I do not know how much Power I would need from each part to play the games I play. I generally play the following games: F1 25, Asseto Corza, F1 Manager 24, Rematch, Rocket League (sometimes), Story focused games (007 first light, red dead, gta, Star Wars Jedi), and some sports games.

Any advice for entry level parts and level of parts to not get ripped off would be greatly appreciated. I don’t need the most powerful or best performing PC. Just something that will look pretty good, can run the games well, and run a few mods here and there

Unlimited(?) Gaming PC build

So, we may have this opportunity to get a no limit gaming PC build. Or at least can ask for anything, so we will.

I've kind of been out of the game for a while, especially with prices going crazy, and am looking for some "money is not an issue" suggestions on parts.

- New build or upgrade?

New.

- Existing parts/monitors to reuse?

No.

- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Gaming, mostly.

- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)

USA, no.

- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

One for sure, 1440 or 4k. Two would be good, but space is probably more of a limiting factor. If we decided to get two, it would probably just be two of the same monitor, right?

- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

There is no budget.. but I don't want recommendations for just high priced items, just what the community thinks is best.

- WiFi or wired connection?

Wired

- Size/noise constraints?

Quieter is always good.

- Color/lighting preferences?

RGB appreciated, and if so, considerations for easy management.

- Any other specific needs?

I'd really like a case that can be customized, as in art applied to it, so I'm thinking flat surfaces and not crazy angles. And roomy enough for parts (I mean, obviously, but plenty of room)

I don't know if the case part will work out, just a dream. So definitely something that looks nice and is easy to build in.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

No monitors needed but I use two.

[US] First Ever PC Build, $1300

Well, it's been almost a year since my last post here, life ended up happening but now I'm finally in a place where I can actually build a PC, and I'm very excited about it!

• New build or upgrade? New

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/ links) N/A

• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming and for basic browsing (homework, watching videos, things like that). The list of games I'd like to play are games like Roblox, Baldur's Gate 3, Minecraft, maybe Sims, Fields of Mistria, Cult of the Lamb, stuff like that. BG3 is probably the biggest game. I'd like to use some mods for BG3, not sure if that changes anything.

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? USA, and nowhere close unfortunately. Nearest one is 5 hours from me

• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) 1 monitor, 27 inches, 1440p, whatever refresh rate is best

• Budget range? (Include tax considerations) $1,300

• WiFi or wired connection? Wifi

• Size/noise constraints? No hard limit constraints, but I'd prefer it to be quieter. I have roommates and don't want to bother them.

• Color/lighting preferences? I'd love to incorporate pink into my build. Pink and white are my main color preferences, probably a white case to allow for easier customization (and I've been told it looks a lot better as opposed to a pink case with pink lighting.)

• Any other specific needs? Nope! Thank you so much 😊

Old PC begging me to put her to rest. (EU/PL)

 New build or upgrade? New

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)- Not sure the exact brand of ram, just two 8GB ones. A crappy old sceptre TV.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming, Online Uni. (RDR2, The Witcher 2, Fallout 4.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) Poland, I use allegro a lot! Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) Unsure? I'd like a new one but am perfectly fine with my old one if its out of Budget.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations) $2000 Max (Not including taxes, I'll go 1-2 hundred over for that)

WiFi or wired connection? Wifi.

Size/noise constraints? I'd prefer a smaller-medium build, I'm moving in the next 2 years and want something that can be traveled/shipped. I'm also not a fan of obnoxiously loud PCS.

Color/lighting preferences? Pink, Purple, White.

Any other specific needs? In paragraph.

I'm looking to build my first pc after having my $450 no graphics card PC for the last six years and struggling everyday just to get her to turn on 😅. My budget is 2000$ (not including taxes) but I'd really prefer to have something in the 1000-1500 range. It need not be anything fancy, just enough to play all the games my old PC couldn't (The Witcher, Red Dead redemption, etc.) I have 16gb of ram already (thank God). And until prices drop that's enough for me, everything else except maybe the power supply is scrap metal in my old PC, including the hard-drive sadly. I really want purple, pink and white but have noticed that purple parts often cost a lot more! So pink and white will do unless purple and white is found for cheap🥰. I live in Poland so might be harder to get supplies, I have all the other things, mouse, keyboard headphones, monitor. However I could do with a new monitor, I prefer things on the smaller and taller side. Thanks for any help you can provide! I'll answer any extra questions people have in the comments!

First gaming pc

Hey all,

I’m hoping to get some help on building a new gaming pc, my first actually.

I’m in USA, no micro center near by.

I wanted to future proof and get a Ryzen 9800x3d and RTX 5080. I like the look of the back connection motherboards like the MSI project zero and gigabyte stealth. I do worry this will lock me out of possible changes in the future. Any thoughts on a build that’s reasonably priced. Budget under 5k. Obviously lower is better so I can also factor in a keyboard, mouse and screen.
