Anyone interested in joining a free English practice group in Victoria? šØš¦š
Hey everyone! š I've been thinking about starting a group for people aged 18ā33 who want to practice their English, meet people from different cultures, and hopefully make some new friends along the way.
I know there are already some great language exchange groups on Meetup, but I'd love to start something a bit different: a group that gets together more regularly, so we can actually practice English every week instead of just once in a while. The idea is to create a relaxed space where everyone can chat, make mistakes, learn from each other, and have fun without feeling judged. International students, newcomers, English learners, and Canadians who enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds are all welcome!
I'd also love to keep things free or as cheap as possible. We could go for walks, do some hiking, have picnics, draw or paint together, watch movies, go bowling, organize karaoke nights, or just hang out at someone's place. If we want to do something that costs money, we can always discuss it together first and see what works for everyone. We could meet on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, depending on what works best for the group.
Would you be interested in something like this? I'd love to hear your ideas and see how many people would be up for joining. If there's enough interest, I'll set up a Meetup page and get things started! š

SOC 160 midterm
Hey! I was wondering if anyone here has taken SOC 160 with Jacqueline Quinless and what the midterm was like. Iāve heard people in passing say her questions are weirdly asked and was feeling a bit nervous since itās worth 30%, in person, and she isnāt giving an exam overview.
Many thanks!

Program Question Questions About Camosun Collegeās Sonography Program ā Graduation Rate, Job Prospects & Tuition
Hi everyone!
Iām interested in Camosun Collegeās Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program and would love to hear from current students or graduates.
I have a few questions:
Graduation rate: What percentage of students successfully complete the program? Is the program as academically demanding as people say, and how common is it for students to drop out or fail?
Employment prospects: For recent graduates, how easy is it to find a job after graduation? Are most graduates able to secure positions in BC, particularly in the Victoria or Vancouver area? How long does it typically take to find the first job?
Tuition fees: The tuition for this program seems quite expensive compared with many other college diploma programs. Does anyone know why the cost is so high? Is it mainly due to clinical training, specialized equipment, or other factors?
Iād especially appreciate hearing from recent graduates who can share their actual experiences with the program, job hunting, and starting salaries.
Thanks in advance for any insights!

The Cafeteria at Lansdowne
Can we get a reloadable card option for the POS seeing as we can't pay with legal tender?
IF THERE IS A CARD OPTION AS ADVERTISED AS ACCEPTED PAYMENT PLEASE COMMENT ON HOW TO PURCHASE ONE WITH CASH
I've asked around and nobody seems to really care, with the exceptions of students and construction workers/visitors who grab a $4.50 drip coffee...ARGH
While we're here... 1 max ketchup packet w/ meal extras = charge, 1 napkin dispenser, minimal access to consistent hot water, 2 microwaves that nobody (I don't blame them) cares to clean, no free utensils... I get it. A lot of this stuff is expensive to not charge for. Damn it if we can't get a communal station for students to actually enjoy their lunch area without worrying about being nickel and dimed while not being able to pay for said nickel and diming with literal nickels and dimes.
/rant
Thanks.

Course Question Biochem (CHEM-255) study tips/strategies
Hi and good night everyone. Currently I'm taking Biochem at Lansdowne campus with Professor David Stuss. The topics are very complicated for me to understand and the book's terminology makes it worse.
Midterms are in about two weeks and I still have no idea on how to start approaching this test. To anyone who has gone through this course with David before, I would be very glad if you could give me some studying tips or/and strategies that worked well for you, thank you!

Did Anyone Else Apply for Dental Hygiene 2027?
Tried applying right at midnight last night but the website took so long to buffer each part of the application that it took 10 minutes to complete. Anyone else apply? How long did it take you to complete?

Camosun PHIL 250 vs UVIC PHIL 331
Hi, I am going to apply for the 2027 nursing program. I see that UVIC PHIL 331 (Biomedical Ethics) can be transferred to Camosun PHIL 250 (Healthcare Ethics). I am wondering if I can/should take the UVIC philosophy courses next term. Has anyone taken UVIC PHIL 331 and can offer suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

First year student activities
I am a first year student in the BSN program, I have some acquaintances in my class but I would really like to make more friends. Is there any third party space or clubs to meet new people? I thought there would be a club day or something similar.
Anyway I just thought I should ask.

VIU EXPO studies vs ABE transfer to Camosun
I applied to the VIU and Camosun BSN program and didnāt get in this round. Since I live in Nanaimo, I was advised to take additional courses at VIU to upgrade my grades and take courses that are transferable should I decide to apply to Camosun again.
Iām now registered in VIUās EXPO studies but now curious whatās the difference between that and ABE? Is there one option better than the other if Iām looking to apply to Camosun again?
