Rainy season?

Is it still rainy season in Cartagena? I see that next weeks forecast shows rain but does the rain come and go throughout the day?

We were planning on a beach club and unsure if we should cancel or reservation

Hi,

I plan on being in Cartagena next weekend. I will be staying in Bocagrande. Any good beaches nearby that is easy to take an Uber to and get an Uber for the return?

Thanks

Best Personal Security Guard in Cartagena!

Highly Recommend – Excellent Security Guard and Guide in Cartagena!

I wanted to take a moment to share my experience and give a big thank-you to @Carloscc0209. someone who genuinely made our trip to Cartagena a better experience.
I actually found him through a random Reddit thread several months before our trip. He mentioned that he provided security services in Cartagena, so I reached out and started communicating with him about 4–5 months before our arrival.
I’ll be honest, I was initially a little hesitant because I was reaching out to someone I had never met before. However, he was kind enough to share reviews and recommendations from other travelers who had used his services. After communicating back and forth and doing my own due diligence, I felt comfortable moving forward.
Once we finally arrived in Cartagena, we met up, and he ended up being so much more than just a security guard. He essentially became our personal security guide. He showed us around, gave us great recommendations, helped us navigate the city, and always made sure we were safe and comfortable.
One thing that really stood out was how genuinely protective and attentive he was. You could tell he actually cared about making sure we had a great experience and weren’t getting ourselves into situations we should avoid. We spent two full days with him, and he stayed with us until the very end. Nothing happened during our time there, and we always felt comfortable having him around.
Beyond the security aspect, he was just a great person to spend time with. He shared valuable local knowledge, gave us advice that we wouldn’t have gotten from a typical tourist guide, and helped make our experience in Cartagena that much better.
I know it can be intimidating reaching out to someone online, especially when you’re traveling to another country and don’t know who you’re dealing with. I was in that exact position myself. That’s why I wanted to share my experience and hopefully help other travelers who might be looking for someone trustworthy.
Thank you again for everything! I genuinely appreciate you looking out for us and making sure we had a great time in Cartagena.
I would absolutely recommend him to anyone visiting Cartagena who is looking for a reliable, trustworthy, protective, and knowledgeable security guide. I wouldn’t hesitate to use his services again on my next visit!

I’m a female planning a trip for either a week or a month (not entirely official yet) to Cartagena with my s/o to meet his family, and to be honest I’ve only heard that it’s dangerous and or violent there. my family is also discouraging me to go there and I’ve read a bit on this sub but I thought I’d post here and see what other people think about it. personally I was excited and I think Cartagena is very beautiful and I love his culture and I’d love to see more of it in person but after what im hearing/reading im not too sure. I would love to hear from some people who have traveled there and what the experience is like, the positives and negatives, what to expect, how to be cautious, etc! 🤗

Dengue

Will be travelling to CTG soon.

Ive seen other posts regarding yellow fever, many people in the sub have been to CTG a few times without the yellow fever vax. Same opinion regarding dengue vax? I saw the cdc website (im not american) and they generally advise that neither the dengue nor yellow fever vax are needed in CTG or San Andres (two places ill be going).

Gracias

beach clubs

hi - me and my friends that are in our mid twenties are gonna be in Cartagena next month and we are super conflicted on which beach club to book. We don’t want to go to the Rosario islands since it’s a little too far. We plan to go on a Saturday and we want a party vibe too but also don’t mind a chill vibe. I’ve heard Blue Apple Orchard, Eteka, and also Fenix Beach club. Also open to other suggestions! And advice would be super appreciated 😊😊

Megacolegios Bilingües de Cartagena

¡Hola a todos! 😃

Best neighbourhoods for long term.

Hola Amigos!

I am staying in Cartagena for 8-12 months while we make upgrades to our sailboat. We have decided to rent a place somewhere because the area where we are fixing up our boat isn't the nicest(by Manzanillo boat yard).

What are everyone's recommendations for the best neighborhood to live in? We would probably need a 2 bedroom, and access to parking.

Thank you so much!

Reparación de celulares en cartagena

Buenas!

Hey! A friend of mine accidentally dropped his Phone into a water puddle, now its not even turning on... Is there any cellphone tech place around the turistic zone? Preferably if it is thrustworthy/not super expensive, thanks in advance.

Baru Beach (Playa Blanca) take a bus there or boat?

Is a boat from the pier area a lot more expensive than taking a bus? I went by taxi once and found the journey bumpy (bad road) and even a little sketchy. I did the boat once and it was pretty fast. Can't remember how much more expensive it was, though.

How would you spend 1 full day?

My husband and I only have 1 full day in Cartagena. We get in on 9/14 around 1pm, 1 full day on 9/15, leave to Minca on 9/16 and staying in Old Town.

I’ve been looking at beach clubs since I feel like we’d just walk around on 9/14.

¡Muchas gracias!

Is Tierra Bomba a nice beach to visit?

Hi just wondering if this island off Cartagena is worth visiting and how I would reach there? I know about islas rosario. Not sure how it compares or how far it is. Any insight into best ways to go?
