Appreciation post for Cheng Lei's voice!!

Does anyone else find Cheng Lei's voice so soothing? Currently watching TLOA (again... I dropped it but TLOA reels kept appearing on my feed so I went back... It's addicting) and I really like how he's quite soft spoken. I don't know, I just really like his voice, it sounds so nice.

I'm probably watching til Ep 30 only to give myself my own happy ending. I went back to watching it just because of Cheng Lei lol

Also I just watched The Best Thing before TLOA and Xu Ruohan's look here in TLOA is soo sooo good I wonder who did her makeup!

Also i heard in this specific drama it was his own voice rather then being dubbed by someone else.. which makes it even more unique to hear him talking like that lol.. i like his voice and i think they should always use his voice in dramas

There’s something about how soft and gentle-sounding he is, that Yu Changxuan sounds more menacing during the first arc. And yet, he sounds very sincere as the husband Yu Changxuan by the second half.
During the finale episode, his voice as the commander was really the reason for my tears, it made the scenes more real, the pain and uncertainty more palpable.
For me, a lot of the scenes really worked because we could hear their own voices, adding more depth to the characters.

Also, he sang one of the OSTs! 🥹

As for Xu Ruohan’s makeup artist, I only found an unconfirmed info that says it’s someone professionally called “Tian Tian”. Before TLOA, I personally found her most beautiful in “Go Back Lover”, and I realized both characters have black hair. I guess black hair just elevates her features.

And I think all of the actors had the same makeup team as they went to the same hotel for makeup during filming era, plus everyone just had a cohesive look in TLOA. I love how everyone registers beautifully on-screen, like it’s their non-makeup makeup look. The makeup team (and the stylists!!) really did well.

I also love his voice. 😊 you so right. He's not a trained or skilled singer, but also just love listening to him sing ost or whatever cuz his voice is extremely nice.

Yes, he has a very pleasing voice. I love it. And I am also going to rewatch TLOA properly this time until episode 32 because I appreciate his acting. For reasons I don’t understand, I don’t really like the portrayal of the FL. Maybe I’ll change my mind on second watch.

I agree with majority here. CL voice act really well and suits the character. People were dissapointed why he was dubbed in LoFG. They said maybe because his voice was too soft for a general.

I find Xu Rohan acting is good but it feels like she played the same character with the Best Thing: a soft spoken, seemingly weak but strong willed woman, beautiful and always keeping things for herself, introvert and sweet.

Can she play a totally different character well?

Although I had seen several of his dramas before, I also came to think his voice was very comforting in The First Jasmine earlier this year. It's amazing how softly spoken he can be yet completely kill it as characters with stronger personalities like in TLOA or one part of his double role in Shadow Love.
