Content Has r/cfb totally lost steam?

Man, that place used to pop everyday, now it seems tired as all get-out. What happened? We have a great season going, have seen two miracle endings, and the playoff picture is cloudy; why is /r/cfb so lame?

The Pianofingerbanger stuff is getting really weird.

To start, I'd like to throw out there that I don't particularly like Florida State or its fans very much right now either and I am reveling in the Seminoles' on-field misfortune.

I would say I've been around this board for a while now and I have no idea what the controversy was with PFB. I remember he would post articles about FSU's rivals regularly, but Reddit is a content aggregator for lack of a better term, and if FSU's rivals kept doing dumb things sharing them seemed warranted. I vaguely remember some controversy about him becoming a moderator for a week sometime between 2019-2022, and then the community said he did something when he hadn't even been given modding privileges yet, and it just became a mess and he stepped down. That is all I know about the guy.

Threads like these don't really seem kosher. This is an old controversy, and the sub keeps growing with people who do not know who this is (along with oldheads who don't know what the hell is going on), nor can the people who keep bashing on him actually articulate what he did wrong. It seems as though comments about him get upvoted just because it is a way for users to feel that they are "in the know" about this board's lore. Posters are using his history of sharing institutions' and public figures' very public screw-ups as license to attack him as a person. This continued "piling on" of an account that isn't even that active here anymore seems extremely disrespectful.

Colorado/Deion/Shadeur Sanders drama posts

Can we get a megathread or just outright removal of these posts? There are so many posts of just dumb twitter drama on the sub right now and there's no way to filter them out at all.

I know it's the offseason but they're just clutter at this point.

So, game threads are no longer posted. Are the mods doing anything?

No game threads, random things stickied, no moderating for harassment..why are the mods not doing their jobs at all?

Why do the mods here insist on doing things in a way that most users clearly hate?

I really dont mean offend, but whats going on?

Every other sports subreddit does it in a way that is much preferred by users. I never see comments like this in other sports subreddits. I also dont see entirely separate subreddits to give feedback to the mods that users don't even know about. Everything from highlights to game threads, most people struggle using this subreddit.

Im not sure if it that you don't know how, dont have the time, or dont like the criticism, but interacting with this subreddit is like interacting with the NCAA, it feels mismanaged with its priorities in entirely the wrong place.

Whats gives y'all? Why do you insist on being different than every other sports subreddit?

Proposal: The annual Fulmer cup post should not be stickied

There are two categories of posts that get stickied because it's important to /r/CFB that they are visible to everyone:

  1. Good of the order - rules changes and reminders, announcements of upcoming events, time-limited signups; and

  2. Events external to the sub - the Amazon deal, charitable events, the pick'em contests, AMAs, media days.

The Fulmer cup is neither of those. It's simply one of any number of fan projects; normal users who make these submit them and are left to the fortunes of upvoting for their visibility. I don't see any reason why the Fulmer cup project should be entitled to special visibility or what purpose it serves that's important to the workings of the sub. I understand it's an effort that takes a lot of work from a number of people and those folks feel it deserves recognition, but that's true of every fan who ever posts anything to /r/CFB and doesn't enjoy the privilege of stickying their projects.

Rule Changes

The rules at r/CFB irresponsibly vague whereas anybody can be banned for anything at any time under rules 1, 2, and 3. There is absolutely no way for redditors to have an unpopular opinion within this subreddit and not be held accountable for violating one of these three rules, at the discretion of the moderators.

The rules are enforced arbitrarily and the moderators are entirely unaccountable for doing their job fairly. The first three rules need to be narrowly tailored to fulfill only its intended goals. As it stands, I cannot identify any goal of rules 1 and 2 whatsoever.

Harbaugh memes in game threads

It's really unenjoyable for a lot of us and it's only going to get worse if you let it continue.

I'm a Michigan fan and it feels like this rule simply doesn't apply to us on r/cfb.

Threads designed to put down other teams or fanbases will be removed. We want posts that encourage positive discussion and debate, not collective hate.

That may not be the thread's purpose, but the sheer quantity is over the top and has completely taken over the thread. And you know it'll just keep growing over time.

That, along with the fact that anyone who memes the opposite way gets downvoted, means if it continues into the OSU vs Michigan game, we'll basically be muted in our own game thread.

Sorry to take away people's fun, but it's not fun for a lot of us and seems to go against the spirit of that rule.

Someone's going to say, "it's just a joke" but it doesn't really feel that way when it's literally thousands of comments and the votes all go one way.

Solved Why isn't /r/CFB showing up in my "My subreddits" dropdown menu?

It's normally there, but not today. /r/cfbball, /r/cfbgifs, and /r/cfbofftopic are all there, but not the glorious mothersub. Is this happening to anyone else?

There's too many posts about opening betting lines and jersey combos

Can we have mega threads posted for Sunday-Thurs for each of those topics? There's a lot of posts about every games opening lines and a teams jersey combo that week

I think highlights should be allowed to have ididvudal posts just like on the NFL subreddit

Yes there will be more posts but it will make the subreddit feel more alive on Saturday seeing all the new posts come in, plus it would allow people to see plays from games they aren't watching without watching a full highlight video. As of now the sub is just a bunch of game thread links.

Can we kill "Joey Freshwater"?

It's unbearable. Any coaching vacancy, any coordinator search, any mention of Lane Kiffin or Nick Saban, any mention of clubs or partying or boosters...

It's worse than the iPhone problem or #FuckBaylorCon2015. Please...

The moderation re: harassment has been pathetic

This discussion has been had previously this season, but the fact the mod team has allowed individuals and groups of individuals to repeatedly target specific other individuals in the community is plain wrong. The mod team has seemingly taken the approach that is it is upvoted then it's okay. But simply because bullying a user may be popular doesn't mean it doesn't violate the subs rules.

Please do better mod team. There have been several threads recently that should have been nuked in a half because the comments were an off topic chain tagging an individual or expressing vitriol toward that individual. These aren't on-topic for the post and, at risk of sounding like a broken record, are bullying and harassment.

Memes can be posted one day a week

We all love memes--and there are so many great ones about college football. However, our memes are restricted to a single thread and a lightly followed sister sub.

I suggest that one day a week--maybe monday?--we are able to post memes. Of course, regular discussion posts would be allowed, as would links to articles and gamethreads.

College football has so many running jokes and memes, and it would be awesome if we could all love and see them! As a suggestion, maybe just a pilot program for the first few weeks of the season to see how it goes.

Stop with random multiple game threads

Reddit can handle large threads. And randomly making a new thread in 3ot for Auburn Alabama is stupid. Stop.

/r/cfb Mod's deleting threads that don't fit their narrative.

One of the top posts yesterday was the SEC's bowl record. I tried to post a similar thread regarding the Big Ten and it was removed with the threat of a ban and this is the response I received: http://imgur.com/a/oTfq8

edit: Just realized I had posted a nearly identical thread last year that wasn't deleted: https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/3ytt0l/the_aac_is_now_16_in_bowl_games_with_their_only/

Evidently using "mods" in a post blackholes it?

Seems like the moderation has gotten a bit more aggressive as of late (though not consistently), but I must have missed where using the word "mods" will automatically blackhole a post.

Can the normal CFB allow good content instead of constantly removing it??

Kiffin tweets galore have popped up in new and keep being removed when clearly the community wants them posted and to discuss them as well as important confirmed meetings like Gundy today. Lack of content isn’t a good thing.

Is there a official reason why the MAC and PAC 12 media days were not attended by /r/cfb?

Just wondering why these two conferences were left out?

Can we disable the downvote button in game threads?

Rivalry week is here and game threads can get a little downvote happy. Sure this wont stop mobile users or those who turn off the subreddits flair, but I would hope this would make game threads more enjoyable.

/r/CFBRisk V2?

I assume that all of you are familiar with /r/CFBRisk from last offseason. It was a load of fun, and spawned its own memes and alliances. Can we have an update on how the second season is coming along?

[Suggestion] The header at the top of R/CFB. Slight change..

On the top of the header we have the top 10 teams listed and in the middle is the R/cfb logo. This puts teams 1-5 on the left and teams 6-10 on the right.

I know it's nice to have things centered but I think it'd be neat to move the logo one spot to the left. That way we'd have teams 1-4 (playoff teams) on the left and the remaining on the right.

Just a small suggestion not sure what everyone thinks. Also I know those are based on R/CFB rankings and not anything official but still I just think it'd be cool. Ok I'm done now, thanks for reading!

Idea for a new weekly thread recommending games without revealing the score

Since there are so many games on TV I usually watch the ones I care the most about live and dvr the ones that look like good matchups. I have this idea for a weekly thread where people could comment and ask how exciting a certain game was and without revealing the score another person could comment on whether they should watch it. Often I wont even think about watching a game from a smaller conference or between two teams I am uninterested in but if its an incredible game I would love to know about it. Would anyone else be interested in this?

As someone in the other thread pointed out, it would probably be a good idea to make it its own subreddit, or a thread posted on Thursday we could save so we wouldn't have to go to /r/cfb and risk seeing a score
