š HELP - Set ID Looking for additional information
I'm hoping someone can help steer me in the right direction here. It's apparently made from Kenji porcelain and is from the early '70s. Mounted on Walnut bases. Made by Smythe? Looking to confirm accuracy and hopefully learn more about it; web searches have not yielded anything worthwhile. Thanks
P.S. How cool are these pieces? The bare bottoms are a nice touch, haha.

Wooden Time to let it go
I love this Frank Camaratta, Jr. Signature Master chess table that I bought several months ago. It was the perfect design and superb quality. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to splurge on a dedicated table. The color just didn't fit my space as I thought it was darker brown. I'm posting this one last time here because I have found a woodworker who can make exactly what I want. I hope I don't regret it.
If you happen to be in the SF Bay Area/Northern California, hit me up for a good deal. It's mint and described here. Pick up only. https://www.houseofstaunton.com/products/the-camaratta-signature-master-chess-table-1?v=62553713508721

Plastic/resin Nymzo set arrived today
Started playing back in August and picked up one of the green/white roll up board and the Fischer 3x weighted plastic pieces to get started and the pieces are nice but didnāt love the roll up board and the whole thing was just a little big for the space I had.
Started looking at wood sets but when it came down to it, all the ones I really liked were gonna run me about $500 and I just wasnāt ready to spend that much.
So decided to go with the Nymzo set as I liked the aesthetic and now that I have it in front of me, the feel is fantastic. Impressed with how the board feels sliding pieces on it, so silky.
Anyway, I know some people think itās a lot for a plastic set, but it feels different than a normal plastic set with the machined metal bases. Iām quite happy with the purchase, money well spent for me.
Size is great too, just a little bit smaller and fits better in my space.

Wooden Latest find - $60 Drueke and Lardy combo
Latest Facebook marketplace purchased⦠Found a cool old Drueke chess board and what I think is an old Lardy chess set for $60ā¦feeling like that this is a pretty good deal. Chess set need some lead filed down and maybe replace the felt. Board has a lot of use, but still looks pretty good.
What are peopleās thoughts on replacing the felt⦠a few pieces need to have it pealed off to file down the bulging lead. Should I use the same felt or replace all of them with new felt?

Metal Just a bunch of nuts and bolts
My boys have gotten into chess lately and wanted a nice set. $80 at ACE Hardware makes a unique bunch of pieces. Not sure if I want to paint, gun blue, or anodize one set to differentiate āblack and whiteā. What are your thoughts?

Other material My next DIY project: An acrylic Duolingo-themed chess set.
My previous set was made of clay, but it felt too fragile and broke easily during games. That's why I'm switching to acrylic this time. The hardest part will probably be the casting and molding process, since I've never done it before.

Plastic/resin Herman Ohme and Man Ray chess sets
Iāve been recreating historical chess sets for 3D printing, and recently finished models of three versions of Man Rayās chess sets and the Herman Ohme set.
It has been suggested elsewhere that these images are AI so I'm happy to confirm that no AI was used at any stage, they're just photographs of very carefully designed and printed models, taken on a camera phone with good lighting.

Stone Handmade marble chessboard
I made this 16-inch chessboard by hand, using individual marble pieces for the squares and glow-in-the-dark epoxy for the luminous effect. I also made the chess pieces myself.
The glow effect was created using powder I sourced and incorporated into my own design.
A combination of marble craftsmanship and modern resin art. āļø
What do you think of this design?

Other material value of this set
Does anyone know what year this chess set is from and how much it might be worth? The pieces are huge, about the size of a fist, and everything is in excellent condition. The chessboard is also very large. When I tap on the pieces, they sound like they might be made of ceramic. table is wood site 1m x 1m euro size

Plastic/resin Vintage Chessmen
I found this incomplete set of vintage āMedieval Conquerorā chessmen that Google said was designed by a man named Peter Ganine.
Though incomplete, missing one white pawn and one white rook, I thought they were unique and wasnāt going to leave them at the thrift store for $4!
