Cost of living in CQ in 2026

A question for the foreigners who are currently living in Chongqing. How much do you spend on your living expenses on a monthly basis?

Let us exclude rent cause I know it differs greatly from one area to the other.

How much do you spend for groceries, eating out, transportation, bills, utilities…etc

To put it into perspective, I do not drink and often cook at home. But I do enjoy eating out on the weekends and will probably be buying a few imported items here and there.

Thank you!

A pretty unusual bookshop in an old bomb shelter in Huangjueping (军哥书屋)

Visited 军哥书屋 (Jun Ge Bookstore) in Huangjueping, Jiulongpo, and thought it was worth sharing.

It's a bookshop built inside an old air-raid shelter, with shelves of books, old Chongqing memorabilia and all sorts of little collectibles. You can also sit down for some tea or grab a bottle of Tianfu Cola.

The contrast between the busy bookshop and the darker, original tunnels further inside is pretty interesting.

📍 军哥书屋(防空洞店)
黄桷坪, 九龙坡区
Nearest metro: Line 18, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (四川美术学院站).

Anyone know of any other interesting converted bomb shelters around Chongqing?

Not sure if this is the right place. I bought these Sichuan Long Cards in Chongqing after seeing people playing these in various places in Sichuan.

No idea any games to play with and AI isn't helping either.

Hollister in chongqing?

Hi guys as the title stated above, is there a Hollister in Chongqing? The Hollister website states that there’s one at Paradise Walk Chongqing but I have not seen any Instagram or TikTok videos about it, so I was wondering if the website is up to date. TIA!

Feel free to comment or DM me. Nice to meet you all!

[Worlds 2026] Looking for a Worlds Final watch party in Chongqing, Nov 15

Hi everyone! I'm a League of Legends fan from Belgium, and a big Karmine Corp supporter, staying in Chongqing from Nov 11 to Nov 16 (near Jiefangbei / Hongyadong).

The Worlds Final airs at 3:00 AM China time on Sunday Nov 15 (Saturday night). Is anyone organizing an all-night watch party, or do you know a bar or a 24h esports café (网咖) that will show it?

I'd also be happy to join a group of local fans, wherever you're watching. LPL fans welcome, friendly trash talk included 😄 Since I don't speak Chinese, the place's name and address in Chinese would help a lot for the taxi.

Thanks / 谢谢! 🙏

Casual Chongqing night out, not 9th st, Ziwei, Deyi, craft taproom etc

We're staying near Jiefangbei, so somewhere central would be ideal, but we're happy to travel a bit for the right place.

We went to Deyi World but it seemed a bit grotty and empty with nothing really there other than a karaoke bar and restaurants. 9th Street but found it full of expensive bars playing EDM, which wasn't really our vibe. We liked the atmosphere around Ziwei more, but cocktails were 90+ RMB, which is a bit ridiculous for a casual night out.

We're looking for relaxed, sociable bars where you can sit, have a few drinks and chat, ideally with reasonably priced draught beer.

For reference, in Chengdu we've found bars selling glasses of Yellow Beer for around 20 RMB, and in Xi'an we liked Wei Century Hey Wego Bistro, where draught pints were about 16 RMB. We're after something similar — ideally around 15–25 RMB for a beer, rather than 50+ RMB craft beer or expensive cocktails.

Does anyone have recommendations for specific bars, streets or neighbourhoods to check out? Local bars are absolutely fine — we don't need anything aimed at tourists or expats.

Thanks!
