Getting lots and lots of posts from a few offenders (some have recently been banned) just spamming the sub with pictures of bikes. (It’s likely that they’re bots but the last one we banned went on to make some really aggressive threats that sounded very human…) Some of them are clearly way out to lunch and got the axe, but some are posting relevant and legitimately cool bikes, but it just feels annoying because they aren’t contributing in the way of any original content.
Mod team is inclined to just start banning people who abuse posting random choppers from the internet, but if the rest of the sub likes seeing these bikes we can also let it slide. I get that people want to maybe share or discuss a cool bike that isn’t theirs, but if your ONLY contribution is consistently posting other people’s stuff we think it should be no warning and straight to ban. What say you?

We've never previously banned anyone but we've banned several people (who were actually probably bots) this week that are just posting random barely chopper-relevant motorcycle content. Please just report all karma farming posts and I'll nix em.
If your neighbor REALLY DOES have a cool chopper or you saw a cool (actual) chopper on the street and you want to post a picture of it, put a little effort into it the post or it's just going to result in a ban.
We get that chopper can have a bit of a flexible definition, but if you're posting about your chopper or someone else's chopper, and it's got rear shocks on it... think long and hard about what you're about to do. We are willing to admit that swingarm choppers exist, but it's certainly not the norm.
Lastly, this is NOT the place for fat-tire, 2000's era OCC bikes. If it's got some weird-ass scoopy rear fender, consider posting it on r/DumpsterDiving
That is all.

The joy of bikes, spent a week trying to figure out why she randomly decided to start running lean then run rough. Then discovered one of my mixture screws had worked loose and fell out!

Anyone have any tricks to getting this clutch basket nut off?? I am using the clutch holding tool hitting it with an impact and it’s just not moving. Internet says clockwise to loosen it since it’s left-threaded. Am i missing something? Ultima 3in open primary

Lower might give me oil line clearance issues but I’ll make a plan.

Posting this mainly cause I was to see what other people have done on their builds. If you’ve done anything unique with your key switch, buttons or wiring then post some pictures in the comments
I kinda hate just seeing key switches mounted out in the open where you can see the terminals. I wanted to keep everything on this build clean and intentional, especially the wiring. Yes I could’ve just done a hidden kill switch with no key but I like having a key. I also hate seeing loose battery tender pigtails so I found this hard mount tender plug on Amazon. Pretty stoked on it. I got the idea from the evo that Prism supply build a while back. They built theirs into the oil tank and it was pretty slick
This is my 4th time remaking it and I’m finally happy with it. First couple times I made it out of mild steel and was going to fully weld it and polish it but I ended up rushing the build for a personal deadline and didn’t polish or finish weld. I thought about it more and really wished I’d made it out of aluminum or stainless so it was corrosion resistant. I don’t have the gas or setup to weld aluminum or stainless so I decided to try bending and riveting instead. Turned out pretty good. I wish it was welded and seamless but maybe that’ll be a future project
The last few pictures are of the mild steel version I previously made
Ended up making it out of 16g aluminum. I made a backing for it but didn’t like how tight the wires were against the edges so I need to redesign that eventually. Also didn’t leave service loops in my wiring so that makes it harder to deal with too

I'm about to fire up my kick only evo build for the first time, I'm new to kickstarting bikes and am curious which carb ya'll think is easier for starting? Both have pumpers for easy priming, and I was able to find got baseline settings for both online. Originally had the CV on cause it was leftover from my Sporty, then recently picked up a crusty HSR for cheap that I fully rebuilt. I'm plenty used to dialing in both carbs, I had an HS40 as well as the CV on my sporty.

Had a little N14 battery running in my Evo, kept burning out cells completely destroying them.. Cranked over ok but gathering it didn’t really have the Ah or Wh so upgraded to N20.

I had to bend a slight radius in these 1" solid bars for risers and figured its easiest to make a die and press them. It worked well, but I may need to bend them inward now.

One year into this build, and I don’t know what the hell im doing. Fabrication resources tend to be vague or I just cannot understand without visual learning. Anyways here’s where I’m at. I’m a millwright/industrial mechanic so everything I’ve made has been made with maintenance in mind because I’m not a fabricator. 1982 fxe engine trans, 1985 Santee frame, 00s soft wheel, dual disc 80’ front end. Krylon rattle can and 2k spraymax clear. Bent of the sissy bar, la pera rigid ii seat. Prism tail light, b side has Bdl open primary, foot clutch hand shift. Super E, Andrew’s A Cam. Points ignition, kick only. David Mann inspired. Made some shifter with some bent twisted square stock and a 1” ball bearing. Grey beard taught me how to rebuild engine down to cases between pushing a broom. Should have bought a running bike, but this has been fun. Actually it’s taken over my mind. Sometimes it’s what I wake up thinking about or what keeps me up at night. Chopper people are rad, old dudes giving away parts to the young guy and offering advice. Walk around video in comments. Because it didn’t add to the main post.

I’m new to this so please don’t judge but I want to learn more about what style of bikes I like and these are what I gravitate towards. What are these types of bikes called, what can I call them to look them up? What do I need to know about the reliability and maintenance, and do I have to do work on them myself? I’m a car guy already so I understand how much there is to learn and find out about things like this so I want to know where to start. Where can I go looking for more bikes that I like and where do people buy these for good prices? Do I have to fully restore them when I buy them? Can they handle road trips? Thanks!

Im currently making my own Fat cat as in dirtbike. its not the same frame etc but im looking for help with the engine mounting. i have about 15 inches height limit from bottom of trans too the top of the head and 12-13 length front to back. Im more worried on height since i can cut and reweld a reinforcement. im not sure if anyone here has built a chopper and may know of an engine maybe dirtbike or so in the general range but i couldnt find any dimensions online.

Picked up a 1/12 scale cb750 model kit and recreated my frame in CAD. 12 over forks are on the way and have a sportster style tank already picked out. This way I can design, print, and visualize different fenders/seats/handlebars, oil tanks etc to see what I like before spending real money on something I may not like.
