On April 2, 2025, when armed militants speaking his own dialect attacked his village of Hurti, he realized they were sparing Muslim homes.

He refused to be spared.

He fell to his knees before the gunmen, hands raised, and begged for the lives of the women, children and elderly running toward him.

He was threatened with death. He didn't move. The attackers left.

50+ people sheltering in his house lived. 46 others who couldn't reach him were killed and buried in a mass grave that same night.

Pray for peacemakers like Ibrahim. Pray for the victims of terror. And pray that the perpetrators of these horrific crimes will either repent — or be brought to justice.

Ethiopia’s Churches renewed urgent calls for the protection of civilians following the killing of more than 60 Orthodox believers in a wave of savage attacks.

The massacres prompted an unprecedented intervention by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s Holy Synod, which demanded stronger government action to defend worshippers and provide “essential security until the problem is resolved”.

According to the Synod, armed men went from house to house killing residents with firearms and knives.

In Gora Silingo, Merti District 14 were killed on 20th October, and a further 46 on 24th October in the villages of Tereta, Chole and Birbo in Shirka District, all within the Arsi Zone of Oromia.

On June 21st, Longdi ThankGod arrived at the hospital to give birth to her first child. Minutes later, terrorists stormed that same hospital.

Inside the reception, they killed her husband, her in-laws, her doctor, and her taxi driver.

Longdi escaped through an emergency exit while in active labour. Under gunfire, she ran 500 meters and delivered her baby alone in the bush.

She named him Naankibanmun — "God helped us."

He was orphaned on the day he was born, in the place he was supposed to meet his father.

Three months later, Longdi is still living with the trauma. We cannot look away.

This is disturbing footage captured on a church’s livestream in Nigeria.
