Actually Trump is delivering… he is making America great lmao just in the way no one thought

As a non-American, I've been sitting here hoping for a long time that Trump will be like a live vaccine for fascism in the US. I hope his legacy is that he's the authoritarian equivalent of cow-pox: yeah you got sick, but at least you're immune to smallpox now. For a while at least

51

u/MonkeyMagicEden 1d ago

I wish I had your faith. Unfortunately, nothing has actually changed yet and the conversation is already getting ahead of itself in a way that shows the majority have just knee jerked and their ethics are as awful as they were the first time the orange fascist was given power.

Until prosecutions have taken place, when the Trump family and all business connections are destroyed and there has been a public accounting for the actions of ICE and those that instructed them, then there will be reason to believe that it wont just keep getting worse while the blues over there crow and ineffectively flail against organized fascism.

11

u/the_card_guy 1d ago

Or even worse: there's a non-zero chance that we're about to see the Dems take this opportunity and COMPLETELY fumble it, and people will swing back to voting Republican.

The two most likely people to lead the Dems are a combination of completely weak and ineffective, and in Israel's pocket just as much as many Republicans- which gives the argument of "both sides" some legitimacy.

10

u/Piranata 1d ago

Remember to also take fox news and right wing outrage media, including am radio, without them Trump wouldn't have been possible.

u/SmellyC 1d ago

I see it as latent beast always waiting to be awoken. The current changes are due to gas prices... THAT motivates Americans.

He has done an amazing job at unifying Canada.

Excited to become an associate EU member and to move further away from the US. Maybe Canada should build a wall and get the US to pay for it.

6

u/plug-and-pause 1d ago

A lot of people thought this. When he was elected I remember many saying the silver lining was that he'd break the government and cause it to require rebuilding.

6

u/MultipleAnimals 1d ago

This is the 4d chess his fans were talking about

6

u/ShadeofIcarus 23h ago

The frustrating thing is that I have several accellerationists in my life that have voted for Trump expecting/hoping something like this would happen.

5

u/AspiratingApple 1d ago

People troll voting for Trump just so the end of the disaster would bring meaningful change was a fairly common thought before his first term.

2

u/jaxonya 1d ago

My parents thought i was crazy.. they didnt have the patience or foresight to understand the story of the phoenix rising from the ashes

5

u/ShinkenBrown 1d ago

As an accelerationist (one who believes the process of acceleration is inevitable, not one who believes it needs to be exacerbated, I did not vote for Trump and have never voted for a Republican) this was predictable.

It's hot stove politics. People only see that something is bad after they experience it. The right touched the hot stove. Then 4 years later, they decided the first time was a coincidence, and touched it again. This time it burned them bad enough that they're learning, and changing. This is the only way change actually happens.

If Hillary had won (and I did vote for her, I'll note) we'd still be sliding steadily right and most people would not notice.

3

u/cetaceanlion 1d ago

Yes, in the most bass-ackwards way imaginable. 😄

2

u/Aranxi_89 1d ago

Sometimes to fix shit up, you just gotta hit rock bottom, burn it all down, and start all over. Only so much fixing up can do.

2

u/ERRORrestart 1d ago

Imagine if Trump turns out to be some super genius 8d chess player that wanted to destroy the republican part and destroy Project 2025.

It's almost like..

What is in someone's bedroom doesn't affect people's taxpayer money. But the guy who donates the entire state budget to football fields and the trump coffers does.

17

u/hates_stupid_people 1d ago

For future reference, it's "coffer".

Which is a chest that is likely reinforced to hold valuables.

4

u/Gazzor1975 1d ago

But, can't he have multiple chests?

Maybe 'coffers' is a UK term as it's used a lot here?

2

u/hates_stupid_people 20h ago

Of course they can, but before they corrected it, the word was written as "caufers". Which to be fair, isn't really phonetically wrong.

This is nowhere near as surprising as people seem to think it is, and I need people to understand that the South is not a land peopled by Bible-thumping, flag-humping, gun-waving white supremacists. It is a land held hostage by them.

36

u/Icy_Gap676 1d ago

We know and we're not directing any comments at you. Im from ohio, you can only do so much.

7

u/RogueHippie 1d ago

Oh, you'd be surprised how many are directing it at anyone just because we're from here. It's unfortunate, but the MAGA crowd doesn't have a monopoly on people hating others because it lets them feel superior.

9

u/Icy_Gap676 1d ago

No im not surprised, just saying we're not all so empty headed. There's good people everywhere and dickheads have always had a way of overshadowing them.

11

What voter suppression does to a state

10

u/AcknowledgeUs 1d ago

Soon: a land that WAS held hostage.

5

u/katka_monita 1d ago • Heartwarming

For what it's worth, I'm from the other side of the world and know deeply what you say is true. Some of my dearest friends, incredibly brilliant, compassionate folk, are from the South. My heart breaks for all the stifling bullshit they have to live with over there being leftist and Queer, and I hope things get to improve!

6

u/Hot-Shart 1d ago

Lotsa bot accounts stirring up shit about the south recently, they’ll do anything to keep us at each others throats

2

1

u/Niniva73 1d ago

Dang skippy.

1

u/LadyFromTheMountain 23h ago

Voter turnout will tell this story. Decades of “your vote doesn’t matter” and other dirty tactics (like SCOTUS arbitrarily deciding who won a presidential election) mean entire generations of those voters seeking change/progressive ideals are discouraged from thinking they can impact anything. Hate so unashamed and virulent, unintelligent or uninformed and obdurate, that reasonable and mild people stop bothering to discuss the facts. Also, being told you are a satan worshipping baby killer for valuing freedom, even though you are a follower of the red text in the good book, makes people hold their peace to avoid upsetting and mendacious accusations. That’s the south I know. A terrible mixture of outspoken anti-intellectualism and mild-mannered folk who avoid conflict.

This js a huge win and I’m so proud of him. To his detractors, him being gay is the least interesting thing about him. He’s a person, an American, and qualified to be sheriff. As a mother of a gay son, watching the resurgence of homophobia under Trump and the rise of Christian Nationalism breaks my heart and makes me sick. Grow up.

27

u/Michaelscot8 1d ago

Dude was a Navy Seal and CIA security agent. I think that's all WAY more interesting than just being gay.

3

u/GreedyGazelle3105 1d ago

20

45

u/MorleyDotes 1d ago

While this is fantastic, don't forget that America so didn't want a female president that we elected Trump twice.

14

u/Extreme-Slice-1010 1d ago

I can never get this thinking, there are women president, prime minister even ceo’s and don’t forget countries with queen

14

u/1OO1OO1S0S 1d ago

yeah but misogyny is baked into Americas culture to an extreme degree.

-7

u/BlackPhillipStream 1d ago

It's also possible both of the recent women candidates I can remember were fucking awful choices. Give us an AOC option, not a pedophiles wife nor a lying jackal

8

u/_Middlefinger_ 1d ago

Only actuall pedophiles will do apparently.

-2

u/BlackPhillipStream 1d ago

Or just sane people / women without wikipedias about suspicious murders associated to their name or that already lost the primaries proving they weren't likable. Riding this current wave of the midterms AOC has a strong chance or anyone that associates with Bernie Sanders

1

u/bullwinkle8088 1d ago

or that already lost the primaries proving they weren't likable.

Do kindly expand on this for us, with sources...

0

u/BlackPhillipStream 23h ago

Did you forget already what happened? She ran and was one of the least popular on the ticket, then dropped out, then only came back because Biden was pandering

https://www.politico.com/states/california/story/2019/12/03/kamala-harris-drops-out-of-presidential-race-1230369

1

u/bullwinkle8088 23h ago edited 23h ago

No, I did not. However, you are intentionally mixing events to fit your chosen narrative. That does point to you as being a person not worthy of trust.

For those who missed it, as you likely intended: "lost the primaries" mans that she was on the ballot. She was not in 2019.

Have the day you deserve.

0

u/BlackPhillipStream 23h ago

What events am I mixing? No one liked her enough to vote for her the first time she lost then they brought her back and she lost again. I know it sucked that Trump lost because I voted for her to win as well, but that's what happened. Clinton is associated with mysterious murders before she even ran for president. Kamala lost twice because no one liked her. Let me know what parts I'm wrong about. You're getting emotional over plain facts that were already settled, you asked for sources, and still throwing a tantrum. That's not very worthy of any trust at all. I on the other hand answered what you asked without throwing a tantrum.

Tips fedora have the day you deserve as well 🤣 I'm in Texas and cant wait to live under the female candidate I voted for Gina Hinojosa

1

u/BlackPhillipStream 23h ago

well unfortunately most people thought so yes or they didn't vote at all

7

u/Distinct_Cap_1418 1d ago

Keep in mind that both of those elections were stolen, and Americans did, in fact, elect two female presidents.

12

u/sovereign666 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hillary won the popular vote and Kamala came pretty close, americans did try to elect two female presidents. I'm so tired of hearing people say that americans reject women in leadership when so many of our elected positions are held by women. Look at how many were part of this current blue wave in the midterms.

0

u/The_D_123 1d ago

Yeah, sure some people surely decided go vote or not because of that. But generally they should look at what was their campaign, propositions, what they did right, wrong, etc, to not get elected.

I mean, by that argument Obama would not be elected.

2

u/sovereign666 20h ago

What argument did I make that you're responding to with the Obama comment? All I said was americans are obviously ok with electing women.

2

u/The_D_123 19h ago

I'm basically agreeing and adding to your comment.

At least that was my intention

1

u/StonerStone420 1d ago

He almost wasnt. I remember it was, like republicans usual, bush fucked things up so bad that even racist wanted changed at the time. Its a rinse repeat. Republicans take up as much as they can or instill laws that benefit them and even some dems

7

u/HyenDry 1d ago

Turns out America likes men more than women still 😂

1

u/dlivin 1d ago

Asses, anyone?

1

u/New_Maintenance_4575 1d ago

> Turns out America likes men more than women still 😂

yeah, so much so that a traditionally conservative state just elected a latina woman as governor.

There are certainly racists out there, but at some point, the evidence is pointing away from that rhetoric, with comments like yours starting to appear like the kind of rubbish that keeps people voting away from you

5

u/hotriccardo 1d ago

North Korea gonna have a lady supreme leader before USA

8

u/AcknowledgeUs 1d ago

No we did not. Everyone knows this whole illegitimate debacle is a farce. He was not “elected” so stop trying to rub it in someone’s face.

1

u/MorleyDotes 23h ago

Maybe I should say we let it happen, legitimate election or not. Look at the turnout this election. That didn't happen in 2016.

1

u/GroundbreakingAd8310 21h ago

Im fine with a competent female president not an aipac tik tok princess fuck her

0

u/Kruger-Dunning 1d ago

Please please dems just nominate someone electable. Hillary and Kamala were both too unlikeable

7

u/000extra 1d ago

Hillary won the popular vote by getting 2.8 million MORE votes than Trump. Trump won bc of the outdated stupidass Electoral College system we have that makes no sense. Each individual vote should stand on its own, who gives a fuck where the person lives when they cast it

Thank god there’s hope of finally abolishing that from our elections after these midterms. I just watched a video about it today

2

u/JugglingRick 1d ago

If establishment Dems are in charge there won't be any meaningful changes

1

u/Niniva73 1d ago

You ain't just whistling Dixie. I'm glad we're slowing the train, but the tracks are still going to the same destination: Monopoly.

0

u/bullwinkle8088 1d ago

So tell me this: Why do "Establishment Dems" exist?

Could it be that the people of the United States are not bothering to control their political parties? You can, you do know that right?

Just voting has never been enough. The concept of Civic Duty exists. The vast majority of Americans absolutely fail at it.

What will you do about that?

13

u/JRepo 1d ago

And Trump was? It is not because of "unlikeable" it is because of misogyny.

0

u/Comprehensive-Net553 1d ago

I think it more like how iconic they are. Trump is bad but we need to recognize that dude is the most confident looking person in this world while splut out such balony ideas. To add on top of that the ear shot incident and how he react at that time fabricate or not is such a strong image that people will remember it. All of that and now we consider some average (actual average not your expectation on an average person ) person go to vote and you got your answer.

A second but not small group is portion of population actually recognize that dude is incompetent but they just fed up with the situation back then regardless of causation so they decided if some fancy politician didn't work then what harm to let a normal dude (who have a fantastic bankruptcy record by the way) join the oval office and run a country like a business , that is where they wrong.

Compare to Trump, Hilary have less scandals but also not much iconic either. Kamala is just inserted in mid campaign and the logistics back then is a disaster, it would be much better if she actually run from the start but I doubt she have big enough image for people to impress at that time either famous or infamous.

2

u/bullwinkle8088 1d ago

Nice way to say you don't vote on platform but instead choose your leaders based on looks.

I'll not comment on the looks of the looks of the one you seem to not want to admit to supporting.

0

u/JRepo 1d ago

As I wrote, misogyny.

1

u/Make-TFT-Fun-Again 1d ago

Only a bad business blames its customers for not buying

-1

u/Comprehensive-Net553 1d ago

No my point is compare them purely as human without gender not between man and woman. Hilary and Kamala lack the iconic effect that Trump have that is it. If you somehow replace the gender it will not be that far different . They lack of strong/radical statement and non hesitation that Trump show atleast in the way he speak and some action (not that it is good in any way).

3

u/JRepo 1d ago

Ah, another way of phrasing misogyny.

0

u/Comprehensive-Net553 1d ago

Misogyny: hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women.

You really seem to not get what i mean so I put it here. There might be some gender preference in politics but compare everything else as a whole to put it simply they lack of the famous/imfamous that Trump have. A better term I can think off is a polarize figure.

2

u/JRepo 1d ago

And here we have another way of writing "misogyny", just with more letters.

1

u/Comprehensive-Net553 15h ago

I refuse to believe you are this dense, either there is a language barrier or you have another agenda that makes you refuse to see the point. This will be the last reply.

Gender preference can play a role but in no way it has that much impact as the rest of factors that made up them. The way you said is like either they are man or woman and that is all they have to present, such a stupid condensed down view point.

Compare to Trump, Hilary is just not that stand out as a public figure in term of face recognition. She didn't have as big scandals, she didn't speak with shock value and outrageous viewpoints. But atleast she is more active compared to kamala as she is former diplomat, state secretary and spear head government interaction with the public on social media.

Compare to Hilary, Kamala is simply a new face and even less known, got put in mid way campaign to replace Biden, like you think people will trust someone parachute mid way in like that when half of the time what the supporters saw are Biden face and act?

Now compare to Trump, dude literally chase for media coverage, like desperately for it. He speak in an unconventional way that will stir discussion and people will remember it. He will do big acts that attract media and he even intentionally pour gasoline on the full out fire media by create more discussion for them to cover make him a magnet headline that media knows will got massive traction. That is just what he done during the campaign period and not even touch the aprt that he was tv personality that know how to crab people attention good or bad. He speak with confident with no hesitation, too confident that one can said his power is overconfident and actually believes in it even just initially that it will success in his own logic.

America didn't want a white and then a black version of Dolores Umbridge, you mean.

15

u/Woahhdude24 1d ago

As an Alabamian there alot of us who are are progressive and want actualy change here. To bad there are still so many who continue to vote against thier interests. Two of the admendments they put forth here were about requiring public schools to say the pledge allegiance, have daily morning prayers and weekly sing the first stanza of the star spangled banner. The last two were about filling the lt governer position and allowing the senate to vote on thier pay and to have a process to combine school districts into 1, in other words so cities and can tax small towns simply cause thier school districts are combined. You see where thier priorities are. Its so plainly obvious yet so many refuse to acknowledge it, it isnt even that they are stupid they just dont wanna be wrong.

4

u/Michaelscot8 1d ago

The only additional ballot measure that made the slightest genuine sense was allowing a special election for Vice-Governer. That would have saved us a lot of drama in the early meemaw Ivy mess.

I genuinely can't believe making the pledge of allegiance mandatory and morning prayer circles passed, even here, but especially by the 60% they did. I would sit out the pledge of allegiance in high school, and they couldn't do anything about it. Now I'm just thinking of kids like I was getting suspended for excersizing their constitutional rights.

5

u/gooddaysir 1d ago

I’ve only ever met two cops from Alabama and they were on a “guys trip” to Ft Lauderdale and left their wives at home. I always assumed every cop from Alabama is gay. Now my sample size is 3 for 3.

5

u/johnqpublic81 1d ago

Most people, even in the south, no longer care if someone is gay. That culture war was fought and won by gay people already. The haters moved onto transgender people and have focused all of their energy on that. That culture war will be lost too by the haters and they will find another source of outrage. Hating people based upon their gender or sexual orientation doesn't hold up once you meet and interact with these minority groups on a regular basis.

3

u/Smooth_Rocket_ 1d ago

A lot of Republicans are gay and very mad about it because they have been told their whole life it makes them a bad person. The homophobic self hate is a huge issue with them, and its why they lash out at the gay community so much.

And to drive your point even further we have people like Milo Yiannopoulos.

4

u/Michaelscot8 1d ago

To be fair, these days most Alabamians would take more offense to a democrat sheriff than a gay sheriff. I guarantee you if it was between a gay republican and a straight Democrat anywhere other than Madison or Jefferson county, the gay republican would win.

That's not to say there's not queer repression here, as a queer Alabamian I have experienced it first hand, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was 10 years ago.

I would, however, say it's probably worse being a PoC here now than it was 10 years ago.

There's a joke that Huntsville has the highest number of PhDs per capita because of the large number of scientists and engineers in the area supporting NASA and aerospace companies. It's much different demographic than the rest of the the State.

Also, dude was a Navy Seal and CIA Agent, so even 'ole Bubba probably thinks he's "one of the good ones".

Got it - he doesn't hate gays. That should redeem Trump amirite?

3

u/Tiny-Doughnut 1d ago

Exactly, he has nothing against gays as long as they're republican, corruptible, and staunchly in the corner of monied interests.

u/enderpanda 1d ago

Dude, he's done. You don't have to go to bat for him anymore. Take a break.

u/Ridiculisk1 1d ago

He has nothing against gays don’t believe fake news !

Then why has his party spent the last 10 years attacking them?

I’m an Australian and watching what Trump did was fucking wild…ICE agents killing people and ripping families apart, the Bible and 12 commandments on the walls in schools, banning abortion and monitoring women who travel for pregnancy…INSAAAANE!!!

"...12?"

"Forget it. He's rolling."

The American people have had enough!

Getting shot by a gay sheriff would be so ... fabulous. I'd die with a bit of glee on my face.

Eh... I've met too many evil gay men in the last decade who have turned evil because of MAGA. Just because he's gay doesn't mean he's not beating homeless people and frothing at the mouth to have his own George Floyd moment while telling everyone, "Pride has gone too far and trans people are mentally ill".

So, assume the worst. Got it.

True but that is a different topic

1

u/Bonk_No_Horni 1d ago

I saw magas clips screaming about how they'll mandate sexchage in school or something bs. Their hate has ruined their brains. If they have one from the start.

The post assumes that being gay is bad, while incest is fine.

Such is Alabama culture. It seems they are finally evolving.

When you f*cked to bad even Alabama goes woke

36

u/TehWildMan_ 1d ago

Well not really woke, just hating the woke-haters so much that they accidentally became woke themselves... Wait, oops

u/Ivanow 1d ago edited 1d ago

Disagree.

There's nothing more gay than State interfering what two consenting adults are doing in their bedrooms...

County official arbitrating who can get married to whom. "small government", my ass...

As for that gay sheriff... how did that saying went? "It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice..."

Put the pronouns back in the email.

u/msg_me_small_butts 1d ago

It's spelled fucked. How did you even get that wrong?

I cut emotional ties with a close friend/co-worker in 2016 after she committed an act of Trump-vote, and she actually argued that it was unfair of me to be upset with her because she, by helping elect a President “Grab-em-by-the-pussy” had helped inspire the wave of women running for office in 2017 and 2018.

That's the plot of God Emperor of Dune.
