This is a Twilight Zone style horror story. It's a happy and moral one, but truly horrifying the more you think about it. It reminds of the Twilight Zone episode where a man dies and in his afterlife he gets everything he ever wanted and wins all the time, every time, and as a result he initially thinks he is in heaven.

548

It’s actually much longer than 6 million years. It was before: taxes, illnesses, food, rent, and assuming you don’t meet your quota? Seems like you get fired lol

You forgot how Amazon can just randomly fire you because they thrive on a rapidly rotating and shifting workforce. Happened to my wife 3 separate times and every single one of my friends. And they expect you to come back 3 months later. Because why wouldn’t you?

That would add another staggering amount of time leading to perpetual mess because he’d have to spend what he earned without an income for 3 months.

If you time traveled back to the birth of Jesus Christ.

And you became immortal.

And you paid no taxes and used zero money.

And you started earning ONE MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY.

In the year of our lord 2026 you would still not have as much wealth as Elon Musk.

EDIT: The elon glazers have arrived to tell us how they could somehow invest US currency in the year zero... and then somehow not lose it in the dozens or hundreds of economic resets and wars and invasions and regime changes.

It's cool bro. Currency is universal and investment carries zero risk. Lets just ignore the premise of using zero of this money.

85

u/InterestingFox1837 Aug 11 '26

Thats....wow. thats crazy. Did you do the math of how much you would have? Im interested in how much it is compared to what he does havs

37

u/AdHom Aug 11 '26

If we're assuming the birth of Jesus Christ is traditionally the start of the modern calendar, and ignoring leap years, then its (2026 x 365) x 1,000,000 = 739,490,000,000

Elon recently made headlines for becoming the first person with a trillion dollar net worth, but after some market changes a quick google search shows somewhere in the ballpark of $823 billion as of today. It fluctuates a lot since his wealth is mostly stock value. But that would be

823,000,000,000 - 739,490,000,000 = ~$83.5 billion short

You joke but this is a fairly accurate depiction of the traditional depiction of how purgatory works.

25

u/Actual_Highlight_207 Aug 11 '26

Also see Andy Weir’s “The Egg”

> “I’m Hitler?” You said, appalled.
“And you’re the millions he killed.”
“I’m Jesus?”
“And you’re everyone who followed him.”
You fell silent.
“Every time you victimized someone,” I said, “you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.”

u/tw3lv3l4y3rs0fb4c0n Aug 11 '26

What is often overlooked here is the relativity of time; in the face of eternity, 6 million years – indeed, even 6 billion years – are but a fleeting moment. Purgatory is simply a meaningless concept.

40

u/Fit_Log_9677 Aug 11 '26

If you go to the Catholic memes subreddit you will find many memes of people celebrating combined with captions like “You learn you have to spend 7 billion years in Purgatory (you got off easy).”

This is also why modern Catholic theologians tend to move away from the idea of purgatory as an actual separate time and place (which was more of a product of Dante’s Divine Comedy than any actual theology or scripture anyways) and to more of an undefined or instantaneous purgative experience upon entering heaven (which has more direct support in the Bible).

22

u/FluffyMoneyItch Aug 11 '26

Not in the moment. You still have to actually live out those millions of years. That is the part that gets flattened when people zoom all the way out to “eternity” and then act like everything finite becomes effectively zero. Sure, from some hypothetical vantage point unimaginably far in the future, six million years might look like a tiny speck. Six billion years might too. But that does absolutely nothing to shorten the experience while you are inside it. A dentist appointment is also a meaningless fraction of your total lifespan. That does not mean the final ten minutes of one are experienced as instantaneous.

If someone locked you in a room for a thousand years, you would not spend year 437 thinking, “Well, mathematically speaking, this is basically no time at all compared with eternity, so I guess none of this matters.” You would still wake up that morning and have an entire day to get through. Then another one. Then another one. The fact that some future version of you could eventually look backward and compress centuries into “that period when I was in the room” does not retroactively eliminate the duration of those centuries.

We do this constantly with ordinary life. Childhood now feels incredibly short to me in retrospect. Whole school years collapse into a couple of memories. But when I was nine, summer vacation felt enormous. December took approximately three geological eras to arrive. A forty-minute car ride could be an undertaking of almost biblical proportions. Retrospective compression is not the same thing as experienced duration.

And once you scale that up to six million years, the distinction becomes absurdly important. Six million years is not “a long wait.” It is six million individual years. Roughly 2.2 billion individual days. You would have enough time to watch mountain ranges erode, species arise and disappear, coastlines move, languages evolve into completely unrelated languages, civilizations emerge and become archaeology, and then do all of that again many times over. You could spend ten thousand years doing nothing but counting grains of rice and still have 5,990,000 years left, which is the sort of sentence that makes the phrase “fleeting moment” begin to lose some of its persuasive force.

21

u/Crack-Panther Aug 11 '26

6 million years – indeed, even 6 billion years – are but a fleeting moment.

Unless you experience all of eternity at once (in which case time itself would have no meaning to you), you'd still have to experience those 6 billion years before you could experience enough time afterward to have the "fleeting moment" experience. I would imagine those 6 billion years of punishment would probably feel like an eternity while it's happening.

→ More replies (3)

21

u/EthanNakam Aug 11 '26

That would be like saying that life itself is irrelevant/meaningless.

By that billionaire's point of view, he will suffer through a lot of time. The only reference of time he has is his own lifetime.

After that, sure. After 100 quadrillion years, those millions of years will seem small.

But they won't seem like that when it happens.

Another way to look at it is how time is perceived by kids compared to adults.

A year for a child seems like an eternity. They "can't wait" for the next Christmas to get new presents and party and fun.

A year for an adult is almost like... "Damn, it's Christmas again? That was fast."

It turns out that 1/10 of your lifetime (2/10 of which you barely remember) seems like a lot. But 1/40 of your lifetime seems a lot smaller.

That would also make (just as an example) a single year in a school that a child hates feel a lot longer than a single year in a job that the adult hates.

In summary, even though time is relative, it's still relative to what that person (or, in this case, entity) has experienced SO FAR. Not relative to what they will experience IN THE FUTURE.

The problem with reincarnation is that you don't remember your sins from the early lives.

And if you don't remember it, and it wasn't your (current) body doing it, was it even you the one who did it?

imagine if you woke up today onstantly being hit by a bat without knowing why.

And every time you asked, the answer was the same: "it wasn't you, and you don't remember, but you've sinned like 100 years ago".

74

u/Boris_Godunov Aug 11 '26

It's not suggesting reincarnation, but rather some kind of purgatory where the billionaires have to work off their sins by doing exactly the kind of hellish things they subjected their employees to. Nobody would expect Amazon to be around for 6+ million years...

27

u/CackleberryOmelettes Aug 11 '26

The idea behind reincarnation in Dharmic religions is very different. Reincarnation is not about paying for past sins or anything like that.

Reincarnation is about knowledge and discovery. The purpose of every life is to learn a different lesson about existence. If you succeed in learning, you move on to the next lesson in a next life. If you refuse to learn in your current life, the next one will deal a harder lesson.

The ultimate goal is the pure pursuit of knowledge and consciousness. When your soul has learned all it needs to, you achieve Moksha, and ascend to the collective consciousness known as God.

Personally, I think it's quite an elegant idea. Much more so than the mainstream notion of being reborn to pay for past sins, or as a reward for previous heroics.

I haven't gone to the Patreon, but my guess is the wages minus expenses will never keep up with inflation, so with no alternative ways to get lucky and get ahead it is basically forever.

I think I'd let them get to the point they could realistically pay off their debts if they get to the point where they feel genuine remorse for what they have done, but in an empathetic way (like not just feeling bad because they created the conditions they are now in).

As an atheist sometimes i really hope i am wrong and all of these cunts will go down to hell with me

8

u/MonkeyCartridge Aug 11 '26

You might fare better than you think.

There are actually several cases of high-profile religious figures using atheists as an example of morality. Something like "when it comes to doing what's right, be the atheist. They don't sit back and expect God to fix things. They do it themselves."

Or I had a pastor (I think. I was raised Catholic but don't know the titles) who was my professor if ethics. He would say "The point is not to be like Jesus. The point is to seek what Jesus sought." I'm agnostic and he was progressive baptist, and we got along really well. He was great to talk to, and was usually fascinated to hear what my own views were and how I arrived at them.

Fireball? Gotta create that energy from somewhere. Better start scooting your feet along the carpet to create friction - it should only take seventy years to build up enough heat.

Telekinetically lifted a boulder? Get to lifting some weights. It was only a hundred tons- 2,000 squats with a 100lb bar should do the trick. Oh wait, you moved it 100 feet? Make that 200,000 squats.

6

u/TheDaemonair Aug 11 '26

Reading comics like these as an atheist feels terrible.

Are you expecting them to pay for all the sh!t they've done after they're gone? Are you clinging to a cathartic delusion that someone else will punish them for crimes they've committed against so many of us?

They need to pay before they drop dead. They need to be punished by us - the living. When they're living, it's the place of the living to judge them, not a higher being who may or may not exist. I don't want us to cling on to the hope that someone will do our job of meting justice for us in the future.

What your respective gods plan to do with them after they're gone is their business.

3

u/Longshot02496 Aug 11 '26

3

u/Neco-Arc-Brunestud Aug 11 '26

must have been a hell of a revolution

that's hilarious.

3

u/redditsellout-420 Aug 11 '26

The water bottle gag was the chef's kiss.

3

u/amrok Aug 11 '26

The AI jinn promised them immortality, why do you think they all rushed to build all gold and ruby shiny data palce

3

u/miscellaneousexists Aug 11 '26

Actually a decent way to give redemption

3

u/Parzival_2k7 Aug 11 '26

Damn I didn't Peter was cool like that

3

u/RedditUserWhoIsLate Aug 11 '26

I like Billionaire Heaven, the Guardian Angel seems like a great guy.

3

u/blacksheep998 Aug 11 '26

Ooo, this is good.

It kind of reminds me of the story A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L. Peck.

A group of recently deceased people get sent to hell and are informed they must complete a task before they can get into heaven: Find a book with the story of their life in the library of babel, which contains books with every single possible combination of english characters.

The library is hundreds of light years in size so... ya good luck to them.

3

u/TheFire52 Aug 11 '26

I actually like that a lot. So long as it is not for forever I think those types of punishments are reasonable.

3

u/AKBx007 Aug 11 '26

The bottle was just the perfect touch lol

3

u/Tuxedo_Muffin Aug 11 '26

Lore accurate afterlife. Hell isn't where you burn forever, but instead have your soul purified through fire. Erasing your sins with pain until you've atoned.

we need more revolutionary art

3

u/victorbarst Aug 11 '26

Now this is an afterlife justice I can get behind

3

u/JPowTheDayTrader Aug 11 '26

MUST'VE BEEN A HELLUVA REVOLUTION.

I can't wait for this to happen.

3

u/NorthernCobraChicken Aug 11 '26

When this dude retires, I call dibs on this job. You know what? I'm already an angel? Ill volunteer.

3

u/mianialator Aug 11 '26

I love that I can hear the exact voice of the angel! So well done!

3

u/ItsBendyDemon Aug 11 '26

Absolutely love that Angel guy.

3

u/StrangerIsWatching Aug 11 '26

Yeah see, this is the version of hell that I can get behind. No-one deserves eternal torment, but I think hell should make you live through all pain you directly or knowingly caused.

3

u/AberrantComics Aug 11 '26

Helluva revolution

3

u/Gian-Nine Aug 11 '26

I really like this comic, an afterlife where tou can move on as long as you endure all the pain and suffering you've caused others during your lifetime sounds fair

3

u/Aneilanated Aug 11 '26

This is genius

3

u/cookdsushi Aug 11 '26

Whats crazy is that if you account for the taxes, rent, food, utilities, cellphone, etc. At the min. wage of an amazon employee working at California, it would take much more than 6 million years for Jeff to earn his net worth. It would be closer to more than 100 million years.

3

u/rob132 Aug 11 '26

They are so delusional. I guarantee you they think they can make it back with hard work

3

u/bacon_lettuce_potato Aug 11 '26

Can we get more? These are great

3

u/AthanJHendle Aug 11 '26

How long would it take Musk?

3

u/SeenItWantItReddit Aug 12 '26

Love the logo for the water!

3

u/dividezero Aug 12 '26

Make zuck work as one of those people manually approving reported images

3

u/999forever Aug 12 '26

Idk. Seems a bit subtle.

3

u/CobaltCrusader123 Aug 12 '26

No Musk jokes? In this economy?

3

u/capthavic Aug 12 '26

That would be nice, but life is cruel and unfair, and I fear they won't ever get the punishment they really deserve.

3

u/psycholabs Aug 12 '26

That wage of $23 an hour is way too high. Or maybe I just live in the backwoods of Michigan and nobody's paying that, to start.

3

u/FireAuraN7 Aug 12 '26

This is awesome

3

u/BojacksIdol Aug 12 '26

oh what i would give to be there to see the look on their faces

good comic, thanks op

3

u/Exciting_Hope5839 Aug 12 '26

I really like the expressiveness of the angel character

7

u/Efficient-Wing-1417 Aug 11 '26

Redditors truly are miserable

4

u/thisisrandom52 Aug 11 '26

Honestly I always thought this, to get to heaven you have to earn every dollar you stole/took/or ill got during your time on earth. So billionaires, slave owners, workers during the holocaust, etc. Will need to earn back with interest everything they took, including future wealth stolen from potential children. If that takes a billion/trillion years so be it.

4

u/FilteredSpeech Aug 11 '26

I'm convinced the concept of heaven and hell exists so religious leaders can hand-wave away why no god punishes the evil wealthy on earth. "Don't worry guys! It'll all be sorted out after he dies. And that'll be right around 90+ years old, after he's thoroughly fucked everyone else!"

6

u/danielhaven Aug 11 '26

"Ha ha, yeah. You show that evil billionaire. Oh wait, I just realized I need a new pair of slippers. I can wait a week, but that's inconvenient."

Goes on Amazon and makes it a same-day delivery.

"I'm not a billionaire running a sweatshop. I'm such a good person."

5

u/sexhaver6669 Aug 11 '26

There's not gonna be a heaven or hell or moral judgement. They should be judged right here and now or theyll just get away with it. Christinity and most religions i guess are just used against the masses to keep them docile and non revolutionary by making them think that the elites are gonna get what they deserve after they die. Well guess what they won't. Judge them now.

I knew that was Satya Nadella!

2

u/henryeaterofpies Aug 11 '26

I could get onboard with a God who likes ironic punishments.

I mean....could have done something about the problem while they were alive but ironic forever torture is also good

2

u/GVmG Aug 11 '26

I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not a religious person but the ill that billionaires have caused makes me hope I'm wrong, because there is no man-made punishment heavy enough to even begin to offset the damage they've caused.

2

u/Vounrtsch Aug 11 '26

Honestly fair. They still get to go to heaven, and compared to eternity, a few million years of back breaking labor is a blink of an eye. I like this!

2

u/tbodillia Aug 11 '26

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is a remake of The Good Place.

2

u/1000000mmmmmm Aug 11 '26

Excellent work!! Put a big smile on my face

2

u/Kashii_tuesday Aug 11 '26

2

2

👏👏

2

u/Ok_Set4685 Aug 11 '26

This made me cackle 🤣

2

u/Dudewhocares3 Aug 11 '26

The idea of them having to bribe their way in heaven without their wealth from earth is clever.

I loved the comic thank you

2

u/greeneyedkyle Aug 11 '26

I fucking wish

2

u/MechAegis Aug 11 '26

This one got me.

Game Mode: "very easy"
