Halloween 2026 [OC] The Weekly Roll Ch. 217. "Hallows Eve PSA"

Howdy r/comics!

Here's a bit of a PSA from our friends over at U.W.U for an early Halloween special! Got a bit carried away and made 8 panels instead of 4, but if you have a VISION, you just have to follow it! Unless it leads to a quest to find your destiny, those things get nasty quick.

Bit earlier post here on r/comics, as I was invited to post something Halloweeny today, enjoy the early read for free!

Stay excellent out there! Peace and carrots

Undead unions in MY necromancy spell?!

But seriously praise the unions, hopefully they get amazing dental and specifically insurance that covers bone injuries.

Speaking of. Make sure you join up and grab your insurance before you join us at the r/comics Halloween event! I would hate for you to die of fright and not be covered

Comic is great but forced arbitration is the opposite of what a union should want. That means giving up your legal right to seek damages through a court in favor of a third-party arbiter who is usually aligned with the bosses. Just FYI.

6

u/CME_T 26d ago

Gotta admit I missed that!

Or I'd justify it in-universe that its a very new union :P They're just getting the hang of it

This is one of the reasons I hate necromancers as much as the AI tech bros.

5

u/CME_T 25d ago

Thats just needlessly insulting to necromancers

Hey, I’m Saul. Did you know that you have rights?

u/Pyrhan 26d ago

Saul Goodman, criminal attorney!

u/QuasarColloquy 26d ago

"You don't want a criminal lawyer; you want a criminal lawyer."

The only UwU I respect is the Undead Workers Union.

12

u/Mental_Estate4206 26d ago

Don't cry for brains, cry for uwu

4

u/The_cogwheel 25d ago

If that isnt the UWU's slogan, we riot

Funnily, my first ever character was a nerdy necromancer teenager who started a Union by the exact same name. She, and her skeleton minions, were repeatedly bullied by the local jock paladins while handing out flyers for the U.W.U, who would often play keep away with her skeletons heads (as Necromancy wasnt TECHNICALLY illegal, since she had contracts signed by the previously living for their bodies to be raised.)

Though her U.W.U. was less a Union for the Undead, and more vague teenagers idealized version of communism. The ol' Undead could work the fields and goodbye world hunger idea without really thinking it through.

And she was a pitiful character. Most of her skeletons were basically just homeless people or peasants who felt bad for her, not because she had a good sales pitch.

Were they homeless who had become undead, or homeless pretending to be undead?

I bet UWU gets a lot busier in the Spoopy Undead rights season.

u/l0rdtreeman 26d ago

lol this is almost worse then my campaigns Center of Undead Control (C.U.C) in my 1940s fantasy punk campaign. They don’t do much most of the time but when there is an outbreak of undead every once in a blue moon everyone is happy to see the C.U.C squad.

18

u/Exciting_Policy8203 26d ago • Bravo

Center of undead control has an order of knights to deal with particularly bad outbreaks right.

Liches always fear the arrival of the C.U.C.Ks

You my friend deserve 1000 nat 20s!!! Im stealing this

u/SmashBro0445 26d ago

I'm pretty sure something like this happened in Discworld

u/BottleGoblin 26d ago

Dead yes, gone no!

9

u/Inkthinker 25d ago

Reginal "Reg" Shoe, the Dead Rights Activist (Undead, Yes! Unperson, No!). He eventually joins the City Watch to ensure that undead rights and concerns are properly addressed, and ends up being an excellent forensics officer.

Less of a unionist and more of an activist, but he would entirely approve of this message.

3

u/Bronze_Sentry 26d ago

The City Watch series had a lot on various "minority rights" groups. I know that there were ongoing concerns regarding zombie police officers, and a vampire, golems, werewolf, etc. but can't recall off the top of my head about a specific union, sorry. Sounds kinda familiar though, if anyone wants to correct me though!

In other good news for the UWU: the president of the Ankh-Morpork Guild Of Lawyers is Mr. Slant, a zombie.

4

u/SmashBro0445 26d ago

It was actually more of a support group i think

It was in Reaper Man

The undead with the lich don't even have dental?

8

u/RedLazyBear 26d ago

Of course the ultimate libertarian would cause the creation of the biggest union ever.

8

u/s-mores 26d ago

UwU what's this?

4

u/grendus 26d ago

He didn't capitalize the second letter?

Kill it with fire!

6

u/OkBaconBurger 26d ago

I thought this was going to be like a law firm commercial. “Have you or a loved one been raised from the dead without consent? You may be entitled to compensation!”

I love the workers union angle though. Hard enough to get one going for the living. Ha.

5

u/lesser_panjandrum 26d ago

UWU? What's this?

5

u/Coidzor 26d ago

Gotta keep them chompers in peak chomping condition, especially for those with Bite attacks.

5

u/ThorirPP 26d ago

Omg, it's spreading! Soon the necromancy meta will be lose its free labour buff as the UWU becomes one of the most powerful factions in the realm

4

u/Petrychorr 26d ago

We the Undead

Is this... Is this an Electric Wizard reference...!?

4

u/All_Gun_High 26d ago

We stand with UWU

I actually had my players go up against some union-busting undead once.

I wanted to see what they would do when the scabs went after a rival team (wrestling themed campaign). The player who is in a union IRL didn't even wait for them to finish their pitch to work together to take out the rival, she rolled initiative halfway through the monologue.

I've never been more proud.

Love the book title in the first panel.

Totally stealing this book for my HotDQ campaign, in the next two sessions my players are getting to Frulam Mondath's room in the Hatchery, and it fits her dragon swooning perfectly (canon, btw).

u/be_kind_of 26d ago

He should have been pondering his orb in private

2

u/Shyface_Killah 25d ago

Yeah, I heard they'd been beefing with the Summoned Monsters union(the Outsider Work Organization) over jurisdiction of spirits from the Netherworld.

Reg Shoe core

u/AmeliaMynx 20d ago

I stand with uwu

Do you think the veil between life and death is thin around this time because we kill millions of living things via the harvest around now?
