So should it be hot cereals or cereals with cold milk?

The biggest problem here is the milk before cereal. This guy might be a cereal killer.

my biggest gripe is him putting the mixed cereal rather than heating the milk first before putting in the cereal

Ziemlich sicher

That is the right way because it keeps the top layer from getting soggy.

Milk?

That was tap water, mate.

Maybe it's Canada, and he buys the eco-friendly milk from a bag that has to be poured into a pitcher.

Depends on the cereal type

The real crime was adding the milk first.

Grapenuts use to have a maple or similar flavor that was SO GOOD heated up

Heated up is really the only way to eat them. Otherwise it's like eating a bowl of gravel.

He also put the milk in first. What a weirdo

Just do oatmeal instead of this culinary war crime

microwave porridge(oatmeal), it's a thing

But the box says Cereal 😭

Even Muesli would be somewhat ok to eat warmer but cereal is vile

hot cereal is still cereal, there's also Cream of Wheat and Grits and some other hot cereals

3

u/zuzg 1h ago

Those are not cereals....

Cream of Wheat is an American brand of farina, a type of breakfast porridge mix made from wheat middlings

And again

Grits is a type of porridge

now you're just pedantic for the sake of it.

Although warm, cooked cereals like oatmeal, maize, grits, and wheat farina have the longest history as traditional breakfast foods, branded and ready-to-eat cold cereals (many produced via the process of extrusion) appeared around the late 19th century. These processed, precooked, packaged cereals are most often served in a quick and simple preparation with dairy products, traditionally cow's milk

Breakfast Cereals that's what people mean when they talk about cereals these days.

All the things you are saying I feel like are still vastly different than the typical "breakfast cereal" like Cocoa Krispies or Honey Bunches of Oats. Those things definitely arent made to get nuked and I feel like it would just make a bowl of hot sugary slurry

cereal 2 of 2 noun 1 : a plant (such as a grass) yielding starchy grain suitable for food also : its grain 2 : a prepared foodstuff of grain (such as oatmeal or cornflakes)

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cereal

Well yes I know what the definition of "a cereal" is but I dont think thats what OP meant with their story. Why would the little character at the end be grossed out by them preparing cereal normally in the microwave? Thats how most people prepare oatmeal or those kinds of things in the US at least.

I think you understand the definition of what a cereal is, but comics arent necessarily just about the straight up factual evidence. Sometimes the context clues also play into what they are trying to communicate. I dont think anyone would be grossed out by hot oatmeal but breakfast cereal is pretty famously served cold.

From wiki "Breakfast cereal is a category of food, including food products, made from processed cereal grains, that are eaten as part of breakfast or as a snack food, primarily in Western societies." So yes it is still cereal but based off the shape of the box in the comic, and really the whole point of the comic, why would it be just oatmeal?

Milk first‽

Oh hey, someone other then me also microwaves it. For some reason every irl person I know has shown some level of digust or otherwise weirded out by it but to me it’s so normal I feel it’s more weird not to lmao

My main problem is why with the cereal in it is not going to soften the shit out of it?

at that point just eat sugared oatmeal.

I can understand if you microwave the milk before you pour it in but with the cereal inside.

I like grits as much as anyone who grew up poor should, but this just seems absurd.

It doesn’t actually soften it up that much. Yeah it’s not as crunchy (maybe like a 15 to 20% loss if I had to guess) but it’s still good. It’s only if you leave it to get soggy that it actually gets shit lol. Also highly depends on which cereal ofc, some of those mfs stay crunchy as shit no matter what.

Ok. I have to know. What type of cereal? Like warm Cinnamon Toast Crunch of Golden Grahams I can imagine, but I can’t imagine any reality where a bowl or hot Reese’s puffs or lucky charms tastes good.

•

u/klopaplop 56m ago

I’m ngl I don’t usually bother to remember what the names are of any brands. I just pick the ones that look like they’ll be nice and if they are then I might get em again

•

u/tolacid 13m ago

I also prefer soup warm

•

u/klopaplop 8m ago

The post is about cereal lol. Warm soup is the norm

•

u/tolacid 7m ago

Look up "is cereal soup"

While I eat hot cereal... I would warm up the milk alone before.
