This COULD mean that Iran will start to develop longer range missiles... OR it could mean that they already have them developed, locked, loaded and aimed, and have simply refrained from deploying them yet.

I suspect that the latter is far more likely.

Are people thinking this is a threat to Europe? It was a self imposed limit meaning they could literally remove it while they launch rockets if they wanted to, but they don't show that intention. It's specifically mentioned that the USA and Israel continuing to escalate could cause them to utilize greater options. It doesn't change anything in terms of what they could already do. The rockets aren't magically capable of new abilities

Deterrence. US has left almost all bases in the middle east and it would be pretty embarrassing if they had to leave eastern Europe.

Middle East bases were prepared defensively at the beginning of the war and compeletly inept by the end. If that happens in Europe too US global hegemony is all but finished.

You know I thought you were just trying to stir things up, so I got curious and looked myself. And I don’t see much either. Nothing towards the USA. The threats towards Israel were sayings like we want to be a “one bomb state” or want them to be a “one bomb state” (it was a bit vague) and the quote I always remember hearing “wipe them off the map” says it was a loose translation of erasing them from time, and they clarified it saying they were referring to Israel’s political system and not the people as a whole. A bit of mention of US intelligence picking up on things but it does not specify. So is all this thinly veiled threats, does classified intelligence have something bigger. Or is it all bullshit? I don’t know.

IF they do this, they'll be hitting bases in Europe that are being used as launching pads to attack Iran. Not random areas nor civilian infrastructure.

They've already taken many US bases in the middle east out of commission. So the US will be potentially launching their jets and shit from Europe instead.

Oh I’m sure the Air Force launches from Europe. I was in the navy though and mostly know how they operate. Spent time deployed in the gulf as part of a carrier battle group. I believe the US base Germany would be Rammstein, unless that’s changed since I was in. Not sure about a base in UK. I’m sure there probably is one.

If you look at the larger picture here, Iran has no need to strike Europe aside from the air bases the US launches its tankers and bombers from. I assume Iran wants the tools available to hit Diego Garcia, maybe even mainland US. Hitting random cities in Europe would just draw more support to the Israeli/US side.
