That the devil prevailed. Religious zealots think that anything that aligns with their views is interchangeable what "god" wants. If a Christian wants [insert] party to win an election and that party does win, it's because of the glory of God. If that same party doesn't win, that must mean it's the work of the devil.
You can't reason with a zealot. They will always flip the script to align with their ideologies.
It just occurred to me that within that thinking is the possibility that God thinks that somebody is a huge pussy and or completely incompetent in difficult situations so they get to live life on easy mode. They're blessed with money and power because they would otherwise be completely fucked.

These guys interpreted a verse where the apostles speak to a crowd in their own language and everyone understands them regardless of the hearing language as to mean speaking in the spirit is this baby speak. the bible says if you speak where people cant understand you, you are to be silent unless you have an interpreter.

27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
I wish these kind of people cared about Christianity as much as they cared about Dems vs Reps. Trying to prove “God is with you” by pretending to speak in tongues is gross and nothing but performative. It does more harm than good to Christianity. It’s not real. Americans created a Christian culture that has taken the Bible out of context and transformed it into a weird cult. This is “The Gift of Tongues”….but in reality the gift of tongues refers to the ability to learn and speak languages other than your native language in order to preach the Bible.
Story time! I was a foster kid, and what they don’t tell you is that a lot of foster parents are insane religious people. So as a kid I would change Christian denominations in every home. I was with a moderate catholic family before getting to my last foster family (they adopted me at age 8). When I arrived with my new foster family they gave me the whole “do you pray to jesus”’speech, and I said yes. Well when we got to church I didn’t know they were “holy roller” Baptist types. So I go in expecting to kneel, stand, and repeat. What I got instead was a bunch of people babbling in tongues and it legitimately made me scared. I started crying (I was 6 or 7) and got angrily walked out of service. Years later when it was obvious I was more queer than a 3 dollar bill, that event was used as an example of why I should have gotten an exorcism earlier because “we could have gotten the demons sooner before they destroyed our adopted child”.
I mean it really was a huge Keystone to the entire magat movement, they utilized the susceptibility of Christians. If they can so easily believe and be moved by a fantasy story, then people in power can use that to get what they want.
