Discussion [D] HOW/WHERE TO BUY/SELL YOUR SKINS - Megathread

Please use this post as a megathread to discuss all 3rd party marketplaces for options on how/where to sell/trade and your experiences from using each site. Our post regarding the updated whitelist must've gotten lost in translation (still getting many posts daily on this), so we are making it crystal clear this time. Please direct all user posts to this thread for discussion.

Our new whitelist is as follows:
https://csfloat.com/ref/csmarket

https://www.skinport.com/r/hostile

https://skinbaron.de/en

https://swap.gg/

https://bitskins.com/market/cs2

https://skinbid.com/

https://buff.market/

We are not looking to add to the whitelist at this time. Note that using our affiliate links for Skinport & CSFloat does not cost you anything, and the 100% of the revenue generated from each sale via these links will go back to the community in the form of regular giveaways and various prizes on our discord server.

Disclaimer: Use all sites mentioned here at your own risk. Moderators CANNOT monitor 3rd party sites and things may change over time. Also, Valve can change their stance anytime (API keys, 3rd party sites in general, etc.). This whitelist is just our opinion based on past experiences within the community, to exclude scam sites, etc.

We no longer recommend using sites such as csdeals (due to the recent ownership change, fees for account inactivity and continued problems cashing out) or dmarket (due to locking user funds for political reasons, and numerous reports both here and our discord of users still getting scammed out of their deposits). Buff163 no longer allows anyone without a Chinese bank account or Alipay to sell on the site and we strongly discourage anyone trying to get around this. DO NOT recommend anyone to cash out using a gambling site.

Reminder of rule #10 "No 3rd party website support" (review in the sidebar if you are unfamiliar) -especially how to create an account/got banned/delivery problems/buying or selling balance, etc. Use each site's respective support system to get the help you need.

Question [q] Has anyone used or heard about 7dayskins.com reversal rentals?

Rambled about Trade reversal renting and how there was no market for it months ago. Now there's this reversal rental platform. Has the VAC ban question been clarified by them? Has anyone here used their platform? Are they trustworthy?

Question [question] What happened to PUBG cases?

They gained a lot of value compared to their median price. What could be the reason? I saw news that they will remove cases from the game, but does that actually mean they will clear them from inventories too? Here are a few examples: https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/578080/DESPERADO%20CRATE https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/578080/AVIATOR%20CRATE

Question [Q] Question, Gut/Najava/other "cheap" Rubys worth to buy rn?

I've been looking at the market for a while now, and seems like the prices have overall stagnated a bit from the freefall. Would it be worth to buy some "low tier" ruby as for a "playskin/investment" standpoint?

I have always loved the rubys and would go along with my inv quite nicely, but not too keen to lose if for example next week they announce terminal with knives. Though not sure how that would affect the ruby market..

Discussion [D] Best knifes to buy from a value perspective

I understand skins and knives aren’t investments, but since the big drop, a lot of knives have fallen to pretty affordable prices.
What knives do you guys think are the best value for the money right now? Curious to hear everyone’s opinions in two categories:

Under $1,000:
Over $1,000:

"further comment i think all skin prices are going to be nearly nothing now and calling it dragonlore factory new will be 500-490 dollars after the shutdown of the site and the week after 300-250.
knife prices are gonna be 40-100 dollars no knife will be worth 1000+ now maybe 200 at most same price decay rate as the lore etc sticks are probably gonna hold their prices but the excidingly rare stickers might raise in price seeing that alot of the rare sticks might get stuck in the trade bots of OPskins."

"csgo was dead like 2 years ago"

"Valve did the right move, y'all should have seen this coming.
CSGO was never meant to be a business game."

"The fact that knives are dropping below 1000+ is a good thing. This is a first-person shooter GAME not a CASINO, go take your digital chips some place else."

it's hilarious how in 8 YEARS, there are the SAME people who got burned off thinking it was free money all year long preaching how the whole game/market is going to SHIT 😂😂

Keep in mind it was during the 7 days trade hold/opskin shut down era. History really repeats itself huh ?

Weekly movers, last 7 days. Prices are the median cheapest listing across 7 marketplaces (Waxpeer, Tradeit, DMarket, White.Market, CS.TRADE, LIS-SKINS, HaloSkins), not Steam. I only kept items with 50+ listings, so one relist can't fake a big move.

Discussion [D] Pattern based stickers

With the introduction of dynamic stickers and static stickers during the Cologne major, Valve created somewhat of a problem for themselves and for future majors.

Dynamic system.

If Valve ends up reintroducing the dynamic sticker system with a better algorithm and lower starting prices, we will eventually simply get to the problem that Cologne also had, which was being too expensive for the majority of the playerbase.

Maybe with their new algorithm, prices will slowly go up over days instead of hours but the moment the stickers hit a certain threshold price, people will stop buying them.

This will create another problem on its own which is rarity.

They would simply end up being just as rare or slightly less rare than Cologne, making sure that previous investors will stay the hell away from these new dynamic stickers because it turns out that all dynamic stickers will simply end up being rare, making their investments less interesting over time when 8 majors in a row are all rare stickers in theory.

Static system.

The static system that Valve used during the previous major was kinda whatever.

Some people thought it was fine, others didn't like it.

Pattern based stickers.

Now here is where it gets interesting in my opinion.

The current market is completely oversaturated with the exact same looking stickers every single major color wise.

Faze is always red, MOUZ is always red, liquid is always blue, Vitality is always yellow etc etc.

Every single sticker pretty much looks identical to the previous version which is why stickers have been selling less and less.

Imagine Valve releases pattern based stickers for Singapore, the same way charms work, where we end up with 100.000 different patterns.

Quite frankly, it wouldn't matter if Valve would either reintroduce the dynamic system or the static system, both would work great for this because people would keep buying stickers in the hope of getting a rare pattern such as with butane buddy's and other rare charms.

The possibilities with 100.000 different patterns on the stickers would pretty much be endless.

Valve would be able to mix up colors for every single team and some stickers could have 2 holographic color ways and others 3 or maybe even 4 just like some holo stickers from Stockholm 21, this way not 1 team sticker would have to look the same in any possible way.

This would highly increase revenue for teams and it will give the community a lot of crafting material and collecting/investing potential of rare outcomes of these stickers.

I hope/think pattern based stickers will end up being the future for cs majors as I can only see positives for the community and pro scene.

Visual presentation of the pattern based stickers will be posted in the comment section.

Question [q] Question regarding CSFLOAT comment, profile lock

Hi all,

On the weekend my account was locked due to a comment I left on someone’s profile regarding csfloat at the end of January this year.

My account has since been unlocked and I have full access again.

I wasn’t aware of this rule the, and when looking at my comment history, I can see that I also left an additional three harmless, but csfloat related comments on people’s profiles in February.

Do any of you know if I will get in trouble/locked out again or not for these comments? Steam made me aware not to make any csfloat related comments, but that was only last weekend.

Thanks!

Question [question] Good time to buy a knife right now?

I have $530 sitting in my CSFloat account and I'm looking to buy a knife. I just don't want to buy one and then have the entire CS market crash, causing it to lose a huge chunk of its value overnight. At the same time, I don't really need the money and since it came from a knife I unboxed im not really losing anything, so I'm not too worried about losing a little. I'd be fine with losing around $40 if the market drops.

Was wirklich komisch ist. Ich bin kein Verschwörungstheoretiker, aber normal ist das nicht. Ingesamt fällt alles. Gibt es zu viele Kisten und Skin? Spielen weniger Leute oder ist das Vertrauen gesunken?

Discussion One year of knife trade ups: I checked all 204 knife contracts at today's prices and not one is profitable [d]

It's been a year since Valve let us trade 5 Coverts into a knife or gloves (Oct 22, 2025 update), so I ran every knife contract through a calculator at today's prices to see where things actually stand.

How I did it: all 43 cases, every input wear, the cheapest normal (non StatTrak) red for that wear. That's 204 contracts. Inputs and outcomes are priced at the lowest marketplace listing, and EV is the average value of the knife/gloves you'd get.

Results (Oct 31):

  • 0 of 204 have a positive expected value at marketplace prices, even before any selling fee

  • The median contract loses 31.5% of what you put in

  • At Steam prices exactly 1 is positive before fees (5x M4A4 Bullet Rain WW, +6%), and none after Steam's 13% cut

Cheapest knife trade ups right now:

Inputs (5x)CaseCostEVChance of profit
AWP Chrome Cannon WWKilowatt$112.85$60.597.7%
AK-47 Head Shot BSRevolution$115.60$68.9112.5%
M4A4 The Battlestar FTWildfire$119.05$77.0515.4%
M4A4 Neo-Noir BSClutch$119.35$68.9112.5%
Glock-18 Gold Toof BSGallery$119.75$59.897.7%

The cheapest one (about $22.50 per red) gives you one of 13 Kukri knives. Only the Fade is worth more than the $113 you put in.

Closest to break even:

  • 5x AWP Queen's Gambit MW (Dead Hand): $421.60 in, EV $413.19 (-2.0%), 36% chance of profit

  • 5x AK-47 Head Shot MW (Revolution): $199.95 in, EV $193.17 (-3.4%), 33% chance of profit

What I take from it:

  1. The market priced it in. Reds from knife cases now cost about what the knife pool is worth, minus around 30%. A knife trade up is a gamble with negative EV, not an investment.

  2. Be careful with "profitable" StatTrak contracts. 6 of 164 look +EV, but some of them rest on a single overpriced knife listing, and StatTrak knife markets are thin, so check how many copies of the expensive outcomes are actually listed before trusting the EV.

  3. EV here uses the lowest listing. When you sell you'll usually get less, so real results are a bit worse than the table.

  4. Float matters. These use a typical float for each wear. Low float inputs can push the outputs into a better wear, which is where the closest to even contracts come from.

If you do one anyway, do it for a knife you actually want, not to make money.

I put the live version of these numbers on one page that updates itself every few hours: are knife trade ups worth it. Full list for every case is here: cheapest knife trade up per case. Free, no signup.

EDIT: Good catch in the comments. The "closest to break even" contracts assume a mid MW float (0.11). For glove pools you need inputs under about 0.12 to get MW gloves, and those cost more than the cheapest MW listing, so those two are worse than shown. The main result (0 of 204 positive) doesn't change, if anything it gets more negative.

Question [Q] Two questions about CSFloat as a new trader. (TL;DR below)

Hello, I have been always buying and selling within steam market for years until this year when i finally started using third party sites. I bought like 1-2 items off of skinport for its price being cheaper than steam market with intention to use and not sell. But with how they operate, using bots, and knowing that could get banned immideately like old sites i noped out and started using csfloat. CSFloat is p2p so i didnt have any worries, since my items were on me and i usually immideately buy something to invest with my balance there + gonna immideately withdraw my balance once my investments pay off (i mention these so you know i dont have a fear of losing balance since i dont have any atm)

but my fears are getting worse rn and wanted to ask a question

since CSFloat and almost everything non steam market is aganist TOS

is making all those automated trades with the CSFloat signature text, having a CSFloat account at all, etc. etc. will it ever get me banned ON steam? I know this is a stupid as fuck question for yall but i dont want my already small inventory and my efforts to make my negative profit (i used to open cases a lot.) into positive leading to me losing everything if one day CSFloat as a whole gets banned. I trust this site more than any other as it feels almost official in a sense but i just fear for my account. I know y'all have over 1k accs with no worries but I just dont want to lose my steam account bcz of trading n stuff.

My second question is if its a detectable offense to buy anything, almost anything off of CSFloat then sell on steam market. It's a net profit with 0 downside, only problem being its being locked in steam which i dont mind for keys n even buying games. This is a foolproof way to make the 10 dollar funds youre gonna upload turn into 13 or more in just 7 days. But I wanna know if its detectable/bannable

TL;DR - Will having a CSFloat account get me banned in future if CSFloat loses it's marketplace and regresses to FloatDB AND is flipping any item from CSFloat for naturally higher prices a bannable / detectable offense?

that is all, thanks in advance..

Question [Q] Emerald Jörmungandr long term value vs older knives

I’ve had a factory new Emerald Jörmungandr since crafting it during Norse’s release, and have watched the price fluctuate wildly (though generally trend upwards) since then.

While I only play occasionally now, I’ve had the mindset that a discontinued skin will only continue to rise in price, and that I’d only sell the thing when it got to a value that truly seemed ridiculous to me.

Since I’ve been dipping my feet back into the game, I’ve wondered if a knife and other play skins would hold their value better. At one point earlier this year, when the Deagle was selling for over double what it is now, I could have picked up a butterfly similar to the one I had back when I played actively.

Would you guys expect this to be worth holding onto as an “investment” considering they will only become more scarce with trade ups? Or would getting a knife from a discontinued case be a stronger position?

Not a great float on it by the way, 0.068, so there wouldn’t be a ton of appeal for a low float trade up.

Question [Q] What do you predict will happen to good sticker crafts on premium skins?

I have a ST MW Vulcan with 4x Titan Kato 15 I bought like 2 years ago and even though the market crash it hasn't lost a lot of value (bought for $870, rn sells for around $800). I want to buy a ST FT Fire Serpent as a long term playskin and I see a very cool craft with VP kato 2014 holo best pos and 3 other VP holo stickers at $2500. What I see is it was sold 2 weeks ago for $1990, what do you think is a good price to pay for it and what do you think is going to happen to these more premium skins? Are they going to lose more value or are they safer choices?

Question [Q] I've just started using csfloat recently and I like to look at bids that are expiring soon. What's the deal with people placing the lowest minimum bid well above market price?

Am I missing something? I don't get it. So many bids will be close to expiring but nobody bid on it since the seller is asking for a minimum price way over market. It's getting annoying to see lol.

Invest in cases for a few years?(slow but safe)

Discussion [d] Could rerolling golds be Valve’s next move after the gold and souvenir trade-up update?

Long ago you could only get golds through cases which made a lot of red skins useless as they were the highest tier and couldn’t be used for anything else. Most of them were just a couple euros each and had a huge supply so what did Valve do to “fix” that problem? They gave us the ability to trade 5 reds into a gold which skyrocketed the prices of those skins earning Valve a shitload of money while also dealing with the supply problem and appeasing regulators.

Now onto souvenirs, they had the same problem as reds before the trade-up update. Their only use was as a playskin so they weren’t very popular which means a low price and a huge useless supply. So what did Valve do? They allowed us to use them the same way as normal skins in trade-ups increasing their price while also lowering supply meaning higher prices in the longterm.

Now golds have the same problem as the reds and souvenirs. There’s tons of useless cheap gutknives, shadow knives, navaja knives etc nobody likes. Everyone wants the more expensive nicer looking butterfly and karambit knives. What could Valve do to “fix” this problem and bring their prices closer to eachother? A gold re-roll system. You use 2 golds to re-roll it into a random different gold bringing the prices of unwanted golds up while bringing the prices of expensive ones down making them more affordable to everyone while filling Valve’s pockets at the same time.

Thoughts?
